As much as I disagree with Rosie being cast as Carrie, and the angst of not enough screen time for Gini and the writing not making sense at times…I do need to say I enjoyed the new series very much! I am so glad you asked about Gigi and Dani because I really felt like they are the couple that has the healthiest relationship that grew over a period of time or moments (let's be real, their scenes all together equate to max 10minutes). I am happy that they decided to pair up Dani and Gigi because Ari and Sepi have natural chemistry and I want more to learn and see more of Gigi and her family. Thank you for this interview with Marja! I want a season 3 now.
Ash, loved the interview! I think Marja truly appreciates your channel. She seemed very sincere with her answers and comfortable with you. You did a great job asking questions. How are they not seeing the chemistry between Dani & Gigi? I saw something the moment they first interact and I shipped GiBette that time! That explains why GiNi barely have screentime. Gotta say, as a TiBette fan, when Marja said the ending was open-ended...my stomach dropped. Sounds like more TiBette rollercoaster that I won't have the patience for...I just need to see them waking up together and going to bed together and anything in-between will be icing.

Don't get me wrong, Jacq T is a wonderful talented actor. Really think Marja is the reason Sophie n Finley got so much screen time in season 1 and 2. Not taking away from Jacq's or Rosy's acting talent. They both knocked it out of the ballpark, even with the poor writing, they both are talented actors!! Tibette really was assassinated by the writers in season 2, for sure! Spot On!

And we can see that Sepideh puts her everything to portray Gigi even in S1. Great interview Ash. I loved how Marja described Finley and Gigi as utility players. And having her write about side issues like Angie with her donor or Finley with addiction. You did a great job interviewing, but please don't give her any ideas of restraining orders. Bette and Tina need to be together.

Farsi and Spanish speaking viewers will definitely feel seen when hearing their languages spoken on the show but there's a way to do that and not leave the rest of us in the cold. Also, I'm not English. English was maybe the fourth/ fifth language I learned.
Ash, thank you so much for this! I ran across L-Word clips on UA-cam about 5 years ago and became really interested. Checked into getting the complete series DVD's and did. Watched a couple of times all the way through. I became so interested in the characters and their stories. I still watch my favorite episodes. I was concerned about dvd issues that within the next 2 years I bought 2 more sets, unopened to date!😊 When I heard that a reboot was possible, I subscribed to Showtime. Really like the characters of Bette, Tina, Dana, Kit, Shane , Carmen, Molly and some of the guest stars, but not the narcissist Jenny. Like Gen Q and am totally pulling a season 3 and more! Really love your work with so much passion and enthusiasm! Sorry for being so long winded as we say in the South!☺️♥️

Great job Ash! I think you covered the main bases with the limited time you had so well done! I loved hearing Marja describe her creative process and explaining why she left out subtitles…that was genius on her part and knows her community in la. Loved her energy and love of her characters. Well that made me a little sad. Even if we get a S03 I don't thing we are gonna get much more of Gigi. It sounds like the show runner doesn't really care for her. Sepideh Moafi deserves much much better... she gave her heart and soul for the show and they just don't deserve her. Every little scene, every common line.. she puts so much charm and depth to it. I don't think they get it. That's why I didn't watch s01 when came out and didn't intend to watch season 02.. all that change because of Gigi, her charecter is sooo compelling, so delicious and exciting to watch. When I was watching them it felt like a different show but like many other times they are gonna ruined 😔 I just don't get it.
I so agree with you. I don't feel like Marja really cares for Gini. She always seems more concerned about Sinley and other stories. Gini is gold not only as a couple, but separately. From Gen Q my favorite is Dani. from the first episode she is the one with the best story to develop. And Sepideh, well, I think we all agree that she is the great discovery. She is a great actress and what she does with Gigi is wonderful. They have to be very stupid not to notice. Sepideh must be promoted to main character. And Dani have more screen time. More than Micah, Sophie or Finley and her ridiculous stories. But I have little expectation that, if there is season 3, they will get it right. Most likely, they will turn to the same old things. 🤷

My dad is really overbearing and expects a lot from me and that was really exhausting growing up i feel deep what Dani feels like I have to be perfect to be worth of his love. But I also love him and he never bat an eye when I came out. That mad me even more determined to never do anything that he wouldn't approved. Anyway here is not my therapist session. Kkkkk. I love Dani and love to watch her journey.. and Ari kills it every scene too. But I talk specifically about sepideh (one, I'm in love.. kk) because what she did with the material she had is absolutely mind-blowing. She give so much life to Gigi, the way she delivers line, her body language, her micro expressions, everything. Like everything the woman is so much serving tea she makes us feel so much. Its incredible. And its sad that its not appreciated.
@@user-mx9uh2nk9v I feel related to Dani too, in many ways. I also have a "theme" with my dad and his particular way of doing and saying things 🙄. It is difficult to deal with someone you love but at the same time it makes things difficult for you. Dani has a story to develop from the beginning. Her relationship with Bette, how she has confronted her. Her situation with her father, her disappointment with her friends. Dani is Gen Q's Bette, in terms of her presence and her potential. Arienne is perfect for the role. But it seems that they gives more value to the others characters, who seem eternal teenagers. As for Sepideh, we are all in love. We discovered a treasure. I'm taking the time to see all of her work and frankly she is delicious. An incredible actress (and singer and dancer) captivating in every way. So smart and deep and funny at the same time. Besides, I am from Argentina and since I discovered that she often comes to my country and she dances Tango and drinks mate, I love her even more.🤣 We need more of her.

But I've got speak my truth about something though I feel like her story can be much better than Bette's because... to be perfectly honest Bette never felt human for me.. like down to earth. She feels like a characters on a tv show, Dani feels like us. Like a person. Maybe its because I was too young when I saw The L Word for the first time (to be honest the only character of the OG that felt real to me was Carmen). And yes the Sophie and Finley its a bad teen drama. Nobody cares. And yes I will most definitely go look for her other works (sad that it isn't gay though because my god she can handle a woman). Oh my the dancing Tango bit.. so hot, my head instantly flooding with a thousand fanfics. But wait I just realized if she goes to Argentina a lot, does she knows how to speak Spanish as well.. because that would be to much cuteness for me to handle tha Sepideh and Ari can talk secretly with each other in Farsi and Spanish. I dead. Kkkkkk. Anyway even if what we got is all that is im grateful they brought joy, love and softness to my heart. @@user-mx9uh2nk9v For me, Bette is the heart of the show. The best characters in a series don't necessarily have to be good people. In general, the most twisted and complex characters are the best. They are richer, they are the ones who trigger the drama. Bette for me is a range of things and I do not agree with those who "hate" her saying that she is a bad person. The series has not delved too deep into her, but what we do know is that she had a difficult relationship with her parents. Her father did not accept her honosexuality and she grew up without her mother. For that reason, it is easy to see that Bette is one of those people who put on a shell and decide to do things her way, so that no one else makes her suffer. Jennifer Beals is amazing. Bette has many qualities as well. She is upfront and consistent in what she stands for. She is a good friend and has courage. For that reason her scenes with Dani are the best. Dani is a younger version of her, and as you say, maybe a little more "human" than Bette. Dani can learn many things from Bette, for example not to allow anyone to pass her over. I hope that in a season 3, there is a reconnection between Bette and Dani, that helps Dani to no longer be under the influence of her father and she can finally stand alone. I never liked Carmen to be honest. Besides the main cast, I liked Paige. She was cool for Shane. I think Sepideh can speak some spanish. Al least she writes a bit in spanish in her IG. I want more evolution for Gigi and Dani amd to see Bette finally finding peace. I also love Alice. I don't care for Sophie and Fin. I love the actresses, they do a great job, but the characters are a pain for me. Maybe because I am too old to relate. I go more for mature drama (Bette, Dani, Gigi). I really hope they don't break the good things (for example Gini), but I don't trust the writers lol. Let's see what happens.

Great interview Ash. MLR sounded very excited more like a fan of the show than the actual showrunner. The only thing I’m concerned about the whole interview is the fact that she said that Tibette cliffhanger is “open-ended” I want to remain positive it hearing this makes me nervous. Marja having no idea what a great potential Gini has and how loved they would be , tells a lot. And that they came together by accident it's so funny it hurts. She just concentrates on only 2 or 3 characters mainly. We are not new fans. We also watched the OG also loved Tina and Bette. I was a die hard Shane fan, but it's time to move on to the Gen Q and give the new Characters a chance, develop them, bring them to the main stage, give them a backround, give them a story. The fill the show with to much broccolis, they don't have space for candys.

I am all about the younger GQ's being at forefront, eventually, when they have earned the right to represent TLW Saga and carry on the representation of the queer community. She seem to have no idea what she's doing or what the audience wants - if GiNi was by accident - I don't want to imagine what she originally had in mind. Now am skeptical about S3 bcoz she conveniently dodged GiNi and more focused on Shess and Sinley.
@@mini0777 honestly I wont be surprised if the show is not renewed. Unless they get a new showrunner and writers I’ll be fine if it’s cancelled - I wish someone would pitch a spin off for GINI only. L word has great potential but it is not in the hands of the right creative people - Maria’s approach is largely why the show has suffered - it’s just not interesting and numbers don’t lie. The best episode was written by Rose Troch. Season 2 writing overall was not good. The fact that she/they chose to give Sophie/Finley and Shane/Tess so much screen time and wasted so much time on useless things,...and she ‘didn’t know’ people would respond to GINI let’s you know the mindset of the people in charge - they are not tuned into the audience and quite frankly aren’t good writers.
@@TheAMW I read somewhere that Kate as executive producer wants Shess to be GenQ TiBette. I agree they have too many characters to appeal to every demographic but failing miserably because of no plot or thought process. We are represented on so many other mainstream series and 1 off shows these days, (Station 19, New Amsterdam, Gentleman Jack, Vigil, Feeling Good, even Good Morning) which appear to have much larger followings on social media. Marja’s new contract with Showtime gives her new project opportunities to replace her LWord commitment. GenQ season 2 end cliffhanger are open ended allowing fans to imagine positive on going stories for their favourite couples. It could well end this way.

She is such a compliment to the L word gen q. Loved your questions and the conversation. The question i would ask, is why when a couple is together why cant they enjoy each other more than an episode before all hell breaks loose. Bette hasn't done anything wrong. Carrie acts like a victim and people point fingers at bette because she is strong and knows what she wants.. Tina needs to grow up and stop being stuck in the past.. it would be nice to see Tina chasing bette for a change
You’re right. Bette hasn’t done anything wrong. She’s been alone & lonely for a long time. The relationships she has had were simply placeholders for Tina, whom she thought would never be coming back. She gave Tina & Carrie space, but it was Carrie that was always acting paranoid, jealous & insecure. And even downright rude. Shane did the right thing by telling Bette that Carrie was having doubts. That, combined with the questions she’d been getting from Tina, made it perfectly reasonable for Bette to ask Tina for clarification.

She was skipping the Tibette questions so fast, she talked about something else instead and never really answered to Ash.. but when it comes to other ships/couples she was veeery talkative, lol. I’d like to add that the chemistry between Bette & Tina is undeniable. This couple belongs together. Even though they are among the OGs, they’ve had to take time to figure things out & mature. I think they’re ready to settle down for good. Laurel’s (Tina’s) presence on the show is like a ray of sunshine. She & Jennifer (Bette) together are the rainbow after the storm.
I know this won’t be a popular comment, but the whole Persian scene and no subtitles explanation is just beyond ridiculous …. I am fine if they feel the whole episode should in Persian ...but the subtitles would be a decent and polite thing to do… for rest of the world …

Agree. I respect Rosie O'Donnell, but enough with Carrie. Let's have Season 3 where it's just Bette & Tina working their way back to each other, no other relationships for them now.

I think Bette is what seh is! When Tina comes back to her, she knows that. Dealing with bed strengthens and weaknesses means a stable partnership, because Bette does the same with Tina. I often realize that it's a drama series, but I don't understand why Bette and Tina can be a constant love in it. It gives the impression that gay people are incapable of loving on the road !!! That is not correct and should not be conveyed that way. I hope that are thr rigth woerds, for wath I wont to say.
I think I understand you: that there is no reason that Bette & Tina can’t be together in a successful relationship even though Tina has to travel for her work.

I absolutely love that they’re not translating foreign languages in this show, and this is coming from someone who doesn’t speak farsi. I think it’s inevitable that we compare her to Ilene Chaiken’s energy. I think Marja is very bright, and she seems to be more the type to sit back and soak things in. I do feel like she has a vision for the show and follows her viewpoint more than what fans want. To be honest, I’m not a director, nor am I a writer and I admit I am super-biased about what characters I like. I didn’t follow the Finley Sophia plot at times but I think they’re both talented actresses. I’d like Marja to show Maribel at work as a immigration lawyer. There was so many storylines and some just changed direction so suddenly. Gini definitely has the chemistry as a couple. Tom is hilarious and he keeps pace with Alice very well. Then again, just my opinions I’m not the Showrunner or Writer. Though I sometimes act like I am, LoL! Maybe I would have liked Carrie more as a character if her personality were more like Rosie’s in real life, and less like a very insecure person. Sorry, I’m allover the place with my 2 cents….
@Tibette Endgame Wow, I thought my words were really direct. I did agree with your take on Marja going with her preferences more than the audience. I then remembered this show was shot last year before everyone had a chance to fully experience the chemistry between Gini. I hope that we get “our” show renewed for many seasons, and much longer ones at that. I am really hoping for Tibette, Gini, Shane/Tess and Alice to find love. I really like the fire in Pippa and wonder how she would work with Alice? Just thought I’d throw that in there. They’re very different but I like to see the fun side of Pippa, and no one brings humor out in someone like Alice. If the show isn’t renewed I will be heartbroken, and pissed! If it comes back and Marja decides to break-up Gini and keep Tina and Bette forever broken up…I will stop watching. I read Ash’s reply to someone that Marja can’t tell us all of her plans….well maybe so, but if, she’s already decided that our feelings don’t matter…. then shame on her… and Tibette and Gini will have to just live on in minds. Either way, the writing needs to be refined, I’m being polite here. The plot is all over the place and a little bit of everything doesn’t make a good plot. Go with your strongest characters, the main ones, the people that have brought so much to the show. If she does this then the show will be even stronger. If we spend shows where people are rewriting the past season just to make it fit with the new one, good Lord help us!!!!
@@eileennardi You actually are making some valid points here. I especially agree with Rosie’s character, Carrie. Maybe it was by design - if so, it worked! But I cannot see Tina’s character being attracted to Carrie in a million years. Nothing fits. It is all completely awkward and very uncomfortable.
I don’t get why Marja has to shut out the English speaking audience in order to make Persians and Latinos feel included...this is an English speaking show. Thankfully I wasn’t interested in the Maribel/Micah story so I’m cool w what I missed at the table discussion.
Yeah I was going to comment about this, too! It's not just Americans that watch this show; lots of people whose first language is not English (myself included) from all over the world are already putting in effort to watch this show, expecting it to be in English and then there are no subtitles for the other languages? I don't agree with her reasoning. If I want to watch a show in Persian or Spanish I absolutely will, but with subtitles! How can we get to know each others cultures if we don't let each other in?! And in the scene with Maribel and her family I even get why there would be no subtitles: Micah doesn't understand, so it makes sense for us not to understand either. But for the scenes in Persian? I think they should have put subtitles.
I understand your perspective. Also, i think it’d be good for us to analyze that the conversations are very very short, and they’re not part of a major plot in the scene. With that being said, the subtitles would also apply to the english-talking-audience, because (and i’ve seen even kate mennig talking about this) of the lack of enunciation and *also* because people who are deaf are entitled to understand a scene not just by struggling to read lips. Anyway, what i’m trying to say is: first of all, i love the fact that marja let the people represented by a certain language take control of the narrative that’s being based on *them*, and second: the discussion about subtitles can be enriched in so many ways. And if i may add a third point: there are *many* shows that don’t put subtitles when a character is speaking in another language (jane the virgin, for example)

@@alessandraramos8704 I get what you are saying. However, I feel that this is just trying to be politically correct in the worse way. I even feel the show writing was a reflection of this. They are SO pressed to be inclusive that they have sacrificed story telling quality. Inclusion doesn’t have a be a zero sum game. I get what you’re saying - it makes compete sense - I just think the reasoning behind it is to make communities feel special by excluding the ‘majority’, and in my opinion this is counter productive.

and the second switcheroo could be that Carmen was actually switched at birth and her DNA test showed she's actually Persian! I'd pay big bucks to see Carmen, Gigi and Dani together.

Bette and Pippa were never going to work out anyways 🤷♀️ Let's be real here : Pippa does not stand a chance. Both Tina and Bette were moving on but the reality is that Bette’s relationships never work out because there’s always something "missing" for her, and that something is Tina. She’s probably in denial right now. Same for Tina. Bette was finally with her ideal type Pippa but this relationship was never going to work out, Bette likes Pippa’s ART more than she likes Pippa… ~ I personally think that it’s kind of a doomed and a losing battle for anyone who dates either Bette or Tina because these two will always have some unfinished business

Congratulations Ash. Good job. I have to say that I did not like your comment about the restraining order. I think you always say a lot of negative stuff about Bette. I didn't see Bette do anything wrong however Tina confronted her in her home while Shane and Alice are there, for me it was not okay for Tina to asked the question are you still in love with.me at the hospital, and then turn around and blame her for Carrie breaking up with her. About Tina getting called out for all the things she did to hurt Bette. Any way I hope there is a season 3. And I hope Bette tells Tina she can't because she has to get to the CAC maybe tomorrow and leave.

I am so glad you asked about Gigi and Dani because I really felt like they are the couple that has the healthiest relationship that grew over a period of time or moments (let's be real, their scenes all together equate to max 10minutes). I am happy that they decided to pair up Dani and Gigi because Ari and Sepi have natural chemistry and I want more to learn and see more of Gigi and her family. Thank you for this interview with Marja! I want a season 3 now.

Ash, thank you so much for this! I ran across L-Word clips on UA-cam about 5 years ago and became really interested. Checked into getting the complete series DVD's and did. Watched a couple of times all the way through. I became so interested in the characters and their stories. I still watch my favorite episodes. I was concerned about dvd issues that within the next 2 years I bought 2 more sets, unopened to date!😊 When I heard that a reboot was possible, I subscribed to Showtime. Really like the characters of Bette, Tina, Dana, Kit, Shane , Carmen, Molly and some of the guest stars, but not the narcissist Jenny. Like Gen Q and am totally pulling a season 3 and more! Really love your work with so much passion and enthusiasm! Sorry for being so long winded as we say in the South!☺️♥️

Well that made me a little sad. Even if we get a S03 I don't thing we are gonna get much more of Gigi. It sounds like the show runner doesn't really care for her. Sepideh Moafi deserves much much better... she gave her heart and soul for the show and they just don't deserve her. Every little scene, every common line.. she puts so much charm and depth to it. I don't think they get it. That's why I didn't watch s01 when came out and didn't intend to watch season 02.. all that change because of Gigi, her charecter is sooo compelling, so delicious and exciting to watch. When I was watching them it felt like a different show but like many other times they are gonna ruined 😔 I just don't get it.

Gini is gold not only as a couple, but separately.
From Gen Q my favorite is Dani. from the first episode she is the one with the best story to develop. And Sepideh, well, I think we all agree that she is the great discovery. She is a great actress and what she does with Gigi is wonderful. They have to be very stupid not to notice. Sepideh must be promoted to main character. And Dani have more screen time. More than Micah, Sophie or Finley and her ridiculous stories. But I have little expectation that, if there is season 3, they will get it right. Most likely, they will turn to the same old things. 🤷

My dad is really overbearing and expects a lot from me and that was really exhausting growing up i feel deep what Dani feels like I have to be perfect to be worth of his love. But I also love him and he never bat an eye when I came out. That mad me even more determined to never do anything that he wouldn't approved. Anyway here is not my therapist session. Kkkkk. I love Dani and love to watch her journey.. and Ari kills it every scene too. But I talk specifically about sepideh (one, I'm in love.. kk) because what she did with the material she had is absolutely mind-blowing. She give so much life to Gigi, the way she delivers line, her body language, her micro expressions, everything. Like everything the woman is so much serving tea she makes us feel so much. Its incredible. And its sad that its not appreciated.
@@user-mx9uh2nk9v I feel related to Dani too, in many ways. I also have a "theme" with my dad and his particular way of doing and saying things 🙄. It is difficult to deal with someone you love but at the same time it makes things difficult for you.
Dani has a story to develop from the beginning. Her relationship with Bette, how she has confronted her. Her situation with her father, her disappointment with her friends. Dani is Gen Q's Bette, in terms of her presence and her potential. Arienne is perfect for the role. But it seems that they gives more value to the others characters, who seem eternal teenagers.
As for Sepideh, we are all in love. We discovered a treasure. I'm taking the time to see all of her work and frankly she is delicious. An incredible actress (and singer and dancer) captivating in every way. So smart and deep and funny at the same time. Besides, I am from Argentina and since I discovered that she often comes to my country and she dances Tango and drinks mate, I love her even more.🤣
We need more of her.

She feels like a characters on a tv show, Dani feels like us. Like a person. Maybe its because I was too young when I saw The L Word for the first time (to be honest the only character of the OG that felt real to me was Carmen). And yes the Sophie and Finley its a bad teen drama. Nobody cares. And yes I will most definitely go look for her other works (sad that it isn't gay though because my god she can handle a woman). Oh my the dancing Tango bit.. so hot, my head instantly flooding with a thousand fanfics. But wait I just realized if she goes to Argentina a lot, does she knows how to speak Spanish as well.. because that would be to much cuteness for me to handle tha Sepideh and Ari can talk secretly with each other in Farsi and Spanish. I dead. Kkkkkk. Anyway even if what we got is all that is im grateful they brought joy, love and softness to my heart. @@user-mx9uh2nk9v For me, Bette is the heart of the show. The best characters in a series don't necessarily have to be good people. In general, the most twisted and complex characters are the best. They are richer, they are the ones who trigger the drama.
Bette for me is a range of things and I do not agree with those who "hate" her saying that she is a bad person.
The series has not delved too deep into her, but what we do know is that she had a difficult relationship with her parents. Her father did not accept her honosexuality and she grew up without her mother. For that reason, it is easy to see that Bette is one of those people who put on a shell and decide to do things her way, so that no one else makes her suffer. Jennifer Beals is amazing.
Bette has many qualities as well. She is upfront and consistent in what she stands for. She is a good friend and has courage.
For that reason her scenes with Dani are the best. Dani is a younger version of her, and as you say, maybe a little more "human" than Bette. Dani can learn many things from Bette, for example not to allow anyone to pass her over.
I hope that in a season 3, there is a reconnection between Bette and Dani, that helps Dani to no longer be under the influence of her father and she can finally stand alone.
I never liked Carmen to be honest. Besides the main cast, I liked Paige. She was cool for Shane.
I think Sepideh can speak some spanish. Al least she writes a bit in spanish in her IG.
I want more evolution for Gigi and Dani amd to see Bette finally finding peace. I also love Alice. I don't care for Sophie and Fin. I love the actresses, they do a great job, but the characters are a pain for me. Maybe because I am too old to relate. I go more for mature drama (Bette, Dani, Gigi).
I really hope they don't break the good things (for example Gini), but I don't trust the writers lol. Let's see what happens.

Marja having no idea what a great potential Gini has and how loved they would be , tells a lot. And that they came together by accident it's so funny it hurts. She just concentrates on only 2 or 3 characters mainly. We are not new fans. We also watched the OG also loved Tina and Bette. I was a die hard Shane fan, but it's time to move on to the Gen Q and give the new Characters a chance, develop them, bring them to the main stage, give them a backround, give them a story. The fill the show with to much broccolis, they don't have space for candys.

L word has great potential but it is not in the hands of the right creative people - Maria’s approach is largely why the show has suffered - it’s just not interesting and numbers don’t lie. The best episode was written by Rose Troch. Season 2 writing overall was not good.
The fact that she/they chose to give Sophie/Finley and Shane/Tess so much screen time and wasted so much time on useless things,...and she ‘didn’t know’ people would respond to GINI let’s you know the mindset of the people in charge - they are not tuned into the audience and quite frankly aren’t good writers.

I agree they have too many characters to appeal to every demographic but failing miserably because of no plot or thought process. Season 3 must be in doubt otherwise Showtime would have followed their usual habit of announcing the next season.by now. We are represented on so many other mainstream series and 1 off shows these days, (Station 19, New Amsterdam, Gentleman Jack, Vigil, Feeling Good, even Good Morning) which appear to have much larger followings on social media. GenQ season 2 end cliffhanger are open ended allowing fans to imagine positive on going stories for their favourite couples. It could well end this way.

Great interview Ash! I honestly think that if you didn't point out the time ,she would have kept talking with you. I can't imagine there not being a season 3. This show has just been so amazing with such a roller coaster of emotions. And all of the characters are family. The question i would ask, is why when a couple is together why cant they enjoy each other more than an episode before all hell breaks loose. Bette hasn't done anything wrong. Carrie acts like a victim and people point fingers at bette because she is strong and knows what she wants.. Tina needs to grow up and stop being stuck in the past.. it would be nice to see Tina chasing bette for a change

You’re right. Bette hasn’t done anything wrong. She’s been alone & lonely for a long time. The relationships she has had were simply placeholders for Tina, whom she thought would never be coming back. She gave Tina & Carrie space, but it was Carrie that was always acting paranoid, jealous & insecure. And even downright rude.
Shane did the right thing by telling Bette that Carrie was having doubts. That, combined with the questions she’d been getting from Tina, made it perfectly reasonable for Bette to ask Tina for clarification.
Oh wow, I don't think Marja Lewis Ryan likes Bette and Tina AT ALL...! wtf... She was skipping the Tibette questions so fast, she talked about something else instead and never really answered to Ash.. but when it comes to other ships/couples she was veeery talkative, lol.

I’d like to add that the chemistry between Bette & Tina is undeniable. This couple belongs together. Even though they are among the OGs, they’ve had to take time to figure things out & mature. I think they’re ready to settle down for good. Laurel’s (Tina’s) presence on the show is like a ray of sunshine. She & Jennifer (Bette) together are the rainbow after the storm.

I know this won’t be a popular comment, but the whole Persian scene and no subtitles explanation is just beyond ridiculous …. I am fine if they feel the whole episode should in Persian ...but the subtitles would be a decent and polite thing to do… for rest of the world …

I think Bette is what seh is! When Tina comes back to her, she knows that. Dealing with bed strengthens and weaknesses means a stable partnership, because Bette does the same with Tina. I often realize that it's a drama series, but I don't understand why Bette and Tina can be a constant love in it. It gives the impression that gay people are incapable of loving on the road !!! That is not correct and should not be conveyed that way. I hope that are thr rigth woerds, for wath I wont to say.
I think I understand you: that there is no reason that Bette & Tina can’t be together in a successful relationship even though Tina has to travel for her work.
For future would be nice to have had captions in English for people that didn't understand Farsi or Spanish.

I respect Marja’s work but there’s something off about her. I don’t like her energy!
I think it’s inevitable that we compare her to Ilene Chaiken’s energy. I think Marja is very bright, and she seems to be more the type to sit back and soak things in. I do feel like she has a vision for the show and follows her viewpoint more than what fans want. To be honest, I’m not a director, nor am I a writer and I admit I am super-biased about what characters I like.
I didn’t follow the Finley Sophia plot at times but I think they’re both talented actresses. I’d like Marja to show Maribel at work as a immigration lawyer. There was so many storylines and some just changed direction so suddenly. Gini definitely has the chemistry as a couple. Tom is hilarious and he keeps pace with Alice very well.
Then again, just my opinions I’m not the Showrunner or Writer.
Though I sometimes act like I am, LoL! Maybe I would have liked Carrie more as a character if her personality were more like Rosie’s in real life, and less like a very insecure person.

@Tibette Endgame Wow, I thought my words were really direct. I did agree with your take on Marja going with her preferences more than the audience. I then remembered this show was shot last year before everyone had a chance to fully experience the chemistry between Gini. I hope that we get “our” show renewed for many seasons, and much longer ones at that. I am really hoping for Tibette, Gini, Shane/Tess and Alice to find love. I really like the fire in Pippa and wonder how she would work with Alice? Just thought I’d throw that in there. They’re very different but I like to see the fun side of Pippa, and no one brings humor out in someone like Alice.
If the show isn’t renewed I will be heartbroken, and pissed! If it comes back and Marja decides to break-up Gini and keep Tina and Bette forever broken up…I will stop watching.
I read Ash’s reply to someone that Marja can’t tell us all of her plans….well maybe so, but if, she’s already decided that our feelings don’t matter…. then shame on her… and Tibette and Gini will have to just live on in minds.
Either way, the writing needs to be refined, I’m being polite here. The plot is all over the place and a little bit of everything doesn’t make a good plot.
Go with your strongest characters, the main ones, the people that have brought so much to the show.
If she does this then the show will be even stronger. If we spend shows where people are rewriting the past season just to make it fit with the new one, good Lord help us!!!!
@@eileennardi You actually are making some valid points here. I especially agree with Rosie’s character, Carrie. Maybe it was by design - if so, it worked! But I cannot see Tina’s character being attracted to Carrie in a million years. Nothing fits. It is all completely awkward and very uncomfortable.
I don’t get why Marja has to shut out the English speaking audience in order to make Persians and Latinos feel included...this is an English speaking show. Thankfully I wasn’t interested in the Maribel/Micah story so I’m cool w what I missed at the table discussion.
Yeah I was going to comment about this, too! It's not just Americans that watch this show; lots of people whose first language is not English (myself included) from all over the world are already putting in effort to watch this show, expecting it to be in English and then there are no subtitles for the other languages? I don't agree with her reasoning. If I want to watch a show in Persian or Spanish I absolutely will, but with subtitles! How can we get to know each others cultures if we don't let each other in?!
And in the scene with Maribel and her family I even get why there would be no subtitles: Micah doesn't understand, so it makes sense for us not to understand either. But for the scenes in Persian? I think they should have put subtitles.
I understand your perspective. Also, i think it’d be good for us to analyze that the conversations are very very short, and they’re not part of a major plot in the scene. With that being said, the subtitles would also apply to the english-talking-audience, because (and i’ve seen even kate mennig talking about this) of the lack of enunciation and *also* because people who are deaf are entitled to understand a scene not just by struggling to read lips. Anyway, what i’m trying to say is: first of all, i love the fact that marja let the people represented by a certain language take control of the narrative that’s being based on *them*, and second: the discussion about subtitles can be enriched in so many ways. And if i may add a third point: there are *many* shows that don’t put subtitles when a character is speaking in another language (jane the virgin, for example)
I’m not trying to discuss anything, i’m just trying to bring another points os view into this, because it’s necessary

@@alessandraramos8704 I get what you are saying. However, I feel that this is just trying to be politically correct in the worse way. I even feel the show writing was a reflection of this. They are SO pressed to be inclusive that they have sacrificed story telling quality. Inclusion doesn’t have a be a zero sum game. I get what you’re saying - it makes compete sense - I just think the reasoning behind it is to make communities feel special by excluding the ‘majority’, and in my opinion this is counter productive.

She’s probably in denial right now. Same for Tina. Bette was finally with her ideal type Pippa but this relationship was never going to work out, Bette likes Pippa’s ART more than she likes Pippa…

Congratulations Ash. Good job. I have to say that I did not like your comment about the restraining order. I think you always say a lot of negative stuff about Bette. I didn't see Bette do anything wrong however Tina confronted her in her home while Shane and Alice are there, for me it was not okay for Tina to asked the question are you still in love with.me at the hospital, and then turn around and blame her for Carrie breaking up with her. About Tina getting called out for all the things she did to hurt Bette. Any way I hope there is a season 3. And I hope Bette tells Tina she can't because she has to get to the CAC maybe tomorrow and leave.
