@@mrsansource5595 The bar is MUCh thicker. Even I can deadlift 150+ kg with a normal bar but I could probably not even nudge a 75kg bar with that thickness xD

@@SJohnTrombley the thicker bar makes it go from back to grip dominant im pretty sure the normal wr deadlifts are done with straps and they are on a normal bar. Those guys wouldn 't have the grip strength that these people train for

I can totally see why people enjoy watching you do these competitions. It’s fascinating to see someone of your size up against these huge guys and it’s nice to see the admiration they have for you.
I can't wait til Emil is an older man, long retired from competitive climbing, fully embracing his massive build, and winning these competitions as one of the big boys.
I doubt it. Like body type is a thing, you don't just go from his build to their builds. You can build up muscle but that doesn't give you the proportions, like shoulder width and whatnot. For the same reason but from the opposite side, I'm 5'11" but my goal weight is 240-250 lbs because I'd have to literally amputate a limb to go much below that.
That 170kg deadlift with the thick bar was crazy Emil. As much as you thought it was your weakest event, that's probably where you have the most potential considering how new you are to the movement. Your absolute grip strength is insane, nevermind for your bodyweght lol. Well done. If you wanted to go down that route, gaining maybe 10kg of bodymass and doing some basic compound movements might put you near the top of that podium in under a year.

It's wild the amount of mutual respect support that the competitors showed. And watching huge guys struggle against a lightweight in certain tests also goes to show how training and builds suit different tasks.
Great effort! That was beyond insane. Also, almost podium on your first comp, AGAINST THESE MEN, is impressive af. Hats off to you, man. Congrats to Kalle, Toni and Filip! 👏🏻👏🏻

That was a fun watch! I think with a litle deadlift training your grip strength will outshine others. Looked like in some cases that it would have been ok for the grip but legs were not on par. This made the lift take longer or be in akward angle.
@@Dave1507 There's a lot of climbers that come into gripsport and a lot of them are of course very good, but Emil is truly special when it comes to grip.

I thought I was going mad from falling too much, I swear I just watched the Grip Strength video like 3 days ago. Glad to see I'm not crazy and you're still kicking ass and taking names.
17:25 Yikes, that's a wrong lift if I ever saw one. The fact that it was allowed doesn't say much good about the event. And he did the exact same thing the lift after that, but this time even worse by pushing the dumbbell up with his right knee. I don't know the guy, so I don't know if he's cheating on purpose or if this is just a bad habit he taught himself without noticing, but you're obviously not supposed to use your legs to shove the dumbbell on the platform. It's kinda sad how he took a podium spot from Emil that way.
This was actually discussed before the event and was noted to be allowed to use your legs to push. Since it would be difficult to judge if a lifter is pushing with their legs or not because the size of the implement is quite large and it would be quite difficult for some of the smaller competitors to avoid leg contact. Filip took most advantage of this rule but everyone could if they wanted. Either way you still need to get the dumbbell handle above the edge of the box otherwise pushing it would only push it downwards.
@@err0n That is absolutely ridiculous. Come on, now. If you make up such a weird rule, at least think it over a bit more so it won't be abused/ You can clearly see he uses his right knee to not just push the dumbbell horizontally onto the platform, but he uses it to push it upwards. Just insane.
