Not sure what I’m impressed by more- this dude grunting the instructions so people can understand the process successfully or him doing it all one handed. 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks for the video. Never done soldering in my life before. Had to buy soldering tools and a capacitor. I must i was impressed with your simple fix. Now my sound bar is working again. Thanks again.
Awesome, Thank you. A $1.25 CAD (Digi-Key) repair saved me $250++ for a new sound bar and more importantly saved a bunch of plastic and stuff from the Garbage & Recycling processes. Capacitors appear to be the weak link in many electronics, as I have had to do this before on my hot tub motherboard, (Saved a $1,000 on that one). Someone smart needs to develop a longer life capacitor or a capacitor anyone can easily remove and replace (plug in??), would help save the planet from a lot of discarded electronics. Cheers!
For those asking about a REPLACEMENT REMOTE for the soundbar... You may be better off either buying a 3rd party replacement remote (usually cost about US$12-15), or buying/using a "refurbished" Logitech "My Harmony" remote like the My Harmony 650. I can confirm that the CT60 soundbar is included in their libary of remotes to add to the 650 (or whichever logitech My Harmony remote you might obtain). I use the My Harmony 650 to replace the original remote. Note: there are two 650 versions...one supports up to 8 remotes, and the other supports up to 10. I THINK th 8 remotes unit is silver and the 10 remotes one is black. They were the same price last time I looked (both refurbished) at about US$50. CAUTION: Using the logitech MY Harmony remotes REQUIRES a Windows computer (Win10 seems to work best) AND INTERNET connection to access Logitech's archive of datasets that support the various remote controls. There MAY be a Linux support version.
Thank you!!! It was the exact same capacitor. As others have mentioned, don't leave your soundbar on when it's not in use. Mine died after leaving it on over night, never again.
Thank you so much for this video. I had exactly the same symptoms with the same model and sure enough, after dismanting, the same capacitor had the bulge. Replaced and now working - a really cheap fix 🙂 I guess this suggests a weakness in the circuit design. Thanks again!
Thanks for the brilliant tip. For me too, it was the defective C914. Instead of 470µ the electrolytic capacitor measured only 150µ and was therefore outside the limits of +/-20% allowed for the circuit. I changed the capacitor and everything worked again!
This worked. About $6 for a bag of capacitors and some poor soldering skills on my part. I couldn't get the old capacitors wires to turn loose and ended up using a fine drill bit to open up the hole for the new one. That made me sweat! Also note you will have to pry the casing open and get some popping along the middle. Thanks
excellent video and easy guidance to repair the soundbar, i have an exact same model that the sound cuts off every now and then, sometimes i switch it on it works for a while then goes quiet, any ideas what could be wrong with it?
Hermoso cuando solo son cosas con estas. Pero cuando salen fallas que ni en Internet encuentras consejos o tips?.. jajaja Saludos desde Monterrey NL México.
It would have gone a lot smoother had my old one not broken off. It was very difficult getting those tiny ''legs'' out, but I did. I have yet to try it as it's my mother's. I am taking it to her house later. If it doesn't work it was worth trying. If it does, even better. Thanks for the detailed video. Updated: It didn't work. It wouldn't turn on. The batteries in the remote were new about a month ago so we'll try that. otherwise, I guess it goes in the garbage. It'll cost too much to have it looked at. I'd expected it to last longer than 4 years.
Thank you very much , I just fix my sound bar which is no reaction with the power button, there no light on the sound bar, I just brought 2 pounds of parts, it back to normal.
Hey there... mine is broken today... i can turn it on, but no Sound came out of the Speakers. RCA or BT, doesnt matter. Any Ideas what can be broken? :)
Hey man, this video already helped me. Unfortunately this issue keeps coming back. Do u by the chance know what's the cause of this problem. The same capacitor popped again. Thanks in advance
I got one of these soundbar, it starts OK plays few seconds then a sharp scratch sound and it switches off, could it be a capacitor? Visually nothing seems wrong on the board
I had the same problem. First it only turned on for 2 seconds and then it stopped turning on at all. Had change 2 capacitors one 470 16v and another one 470 35v when You open it, you will notice they are a little bit different then the others on top. Change both and it will work!
@@arturro911 mam ten sam problem jeden widzę że jest napuchniety u góry( ten co na filmiku jest wymieniany) a reszta wydaje się ok jak mam sprawdzić czy są sprawne?

Hi mate. Thanks for your help, but now I got a new situation. The barsouns stopped to work so I changed the capacitator and it turned on and works again but it has no sound. Someone can help me with this? Or somebody just happened the same? It turns on and sources (coxaial, bt..) just the sound doesnt work. It is like mute botton was pressed but it isnt. Someone knows about capacitator/s could be? Thanks for help. Regards from Spain
DELETED THIS COMMENT. I bit the bullet and ended up destroying one of the 3 capacitors I previously ID'd in order to 100% verify the specs and discovered they were in fact 35V 470uF...not 16V 470uF they appeared to be when covered by the yellow gunk. Old comment title="POSSIBLE DIFFERENT CAPACITOR(S) TO CHECK/REPLACE" Please disregard the prior content of this comment and an apology from me.
It's probably also a blown capacitor. There are other videos on youtube where this speaker won't turn on, they replace the same capacitor or another one close to it, and the speaker works again.

Brilliant. I’m no technical minded but took board out. Got a mate to solder new capacitor. Now working like new 👍

THX for the movie. I took the damaged capacitor from the old PC power supply. The cost is $0.00 👍👍

It worked, thanks a lot. I replaced mine yesterday :)
Just finished and it worked! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and the video! Excellent.
Just had the same issue on my CT60BT.... just a note that the failing cap is rated at 105 deg C - presumably part of the power supply
Hey there... mine is broken today... i can turn it on, but no Sound came out of the Speakers. RCA or BT, doesnt matter. Any Ideas what can be broken? :)
Thank you very much for video. My sound bar exactly same.issue . Blown resistor.
Thx you just fixed my Sony sound bar
I suspect the cap to get damaged by heat from the transformer right next to it. Found the exact same defect in my soundbar yesterday.
this worked for me! thank you for posting this video!!!!
Worked for me, although I had to completely reassemble the unit before it would power up.

Thank you very much, with a few euro I solved the problem...
How can you tell the capacitor is broken? Or is it always the same capacitor?
The top of it is swollen
Is there any 5v output ? I have the non bt variant and want to solder a bt board to it
Does one need to do soldering? Couldn’t see it in this video.
Worked for me also, had exactly the same problem 👍

Thank You!!!!! You are a star! Just fixed my sound bar ;)
I see you just pulled capacitors off, don't they need to be soldered?
Can you tell me about the remote universal code you used please .?!
Thank you, helps a lot 👍
Hello. Thanks for the video. Plz tel me how can I set up a universal remote to work with this soundbar
What kind of remote are you using?
Very good Video, i will fix mine too. 👍😊

On the bottom of the circuit board there's a plug for what
Hello, i replaced the part but it working but i have no sound, why ? :/
What else could it be. I know nothing and tried seeing if I saw a bad component.. but everything looks ok..obviously not.. power cord??.
Did you follow this repair and change out the capacitor?
You won't see anything visually broken
Jesus Christ, I have it ! 😮😅😂
Please for do no have that don't leave your soundbar on the power all the time 😔

Where's the power button if you don't have a remote
