If all of them have red, there's no way for Person 2 to figure out he has red even if he's a genius, it could be any. So the riddle needs to be reworded to something like this: They all get red. (let's follow your riddle and say the middle guy will win) They can see the others, not their own. The bag contains 3 red chips and 1 black chip. Guess your own chips colour. Now the Left and right guy have the same line of thinking: I see 2 reds, there's a 50/50 chance of me having a black one or a red one. The middle guy, being the smartest, knows that he sees 2 reds, so he has a 50/50 shot of guessing BUT he knows if he had a black, the other two would've guessed their colour so he MUST have a red. In your example, there's no limit to whats in the bag. Your riddle was mostly right, but you left out a few crucial details that made it impossible to work out! I liked the rest though.
In my version, any of the three guys could have figured it out (not just the guy in the middle). From the perspective of guy 1: If he had a black chip then guys 2 and 3 would have known they had red chips. Guy 2 would see guy 3 raising his hand. Guy 2 would see a black chip on guy 1, so he would know he had a red chip (otherwise guy 3 wouldn’t be raising his hand). Since they are all smart and guys 2 and 3 didn’t speak up, guy 1 knows he has to have a red chip.
@@HowToFunandGames But this is all on the assumption there's a limited amount of chips of each colour, in your video you said there's a bag of chips. When I think of a bag of poker chips I think of 50, maybe 70 chips. How would guy 2 and 3 know they had red chips if guy 1 had a black chip if the bag could give them anything? If there's only 4 chips in the bag, then it works, but you never said that.
It works with an unlimited number of chips. Pretend you are guy 2 and I’m guy 3. We both have red chips. You can see mine and I can see yours, but we can’t see our own chips. Guy 1 has a black chip. When you see me raising my hand, you know you have a red chip because I can only see you and guy 1 (who has a black chip).
