Jess, for a future video idea. Could you do a recipe using canned chicken or ham? I canned up chicken this year but other then chicken salad, I'm not too sure how to use it. I'd like to try a casserole or something but dont know where to start

I laugh a little when people say they don't have a store nearby that carries the good organic foods, and they are driving 30-45 mins to find them. I have to go 75 miles for a normal grocery, or over 200 miles for a reasonable bulk organic store. I'm so happy I found Azure a couple of years ago, they are my go-to for all my groceries now. I live about 250 miles from the company, so when we get a drop it's very fresh. The close drops have no delivery charges making it even more affordable. We do have a "health food" store in town, the majority of their stock is from Azure which says a lot. I continue to watch channels like yours to get ideas of what to buy and how to cook it, thank you for bringing back your kitchen and cooking content!

Oh let me tell you about canned salmon AND cream of mushroom soup!
    We LOVE making this!
Sauté onions in butter or healthy oil. Add your canned salmon to the onions when the onions are about half tender. Sauté just a few more minutes until the salmon is just starting to crisp a little, then add a can of cream of mushroom soup. To thin it down you can add milk or cream. Cook as the flavors blend and let it softly boil for a few minutes.
Add salt as needed and generously pepper it.
Ladle over a piece of toast. Garlic toast, thick toast, toast toasted in butter, any type of savory toast will do.
Cheese can now be sprinkled over the top if you like it that way.
So incredibly tasty! And it’s quick and easy. This can be done in about 10 minutes.
This can also be made by substituting the canned salmon with tuna steaks or salmon steaks, thin cut beef steaks or venison steaks as well.
It’s just really a good combination of flavors and you already have everything you need!😁

  • @doubles1545

I use canned salmon three ways. One is patties as you mentioned. The second is salmon salad (made just like tuna salad- drain, add mayo and whatever else you want.) The third is a dip- drain salmon, add 8 oz cream cheese, raw red onion, and Worcestershire sauce to taste. Great party dip.
Love radish sprouts. They are my favorite, and my husbands favorite too. They have a zesty spicy flavor instead of just bland green.

Jess- I hear you on convenience food without the junk. I thought I would share my favorite convenience food that all my whole family loves. I make huge amounts of taco meat and package them in my appropriate sizes for dinners and freeze it. When I forgotten to take something out of the freezer I just throw the frozen meat in a pot with water and slowly defrost. I always have some kind of cheese/sour cream, frozen peppers, rice or tortillas. No one complains and it takes probably 20 minutes to throw together.

We are leaving behind our 3 adult married children and each family has blessed us with 4 grand children in total of 12. I have enjoyed watching your channel The Farmer's Table. You share interesting topics and recipes, not to mention your food order hall. I love growing sprout myself! We favor alfalfa sprouts most, they are delicious on a salad or any sandwich. I look forward to seeing more of your ideas in the kitchen, Pantry and garden. Blessings to you and your peeps! 🥣💙

With canned salmon, but more often canned tuna or sardines, I sauté it in olive oil with minced garlic and onion (or granulated garlic and onion powder if too pressed for time), then I add in cut or smashed tomatoes (fresh tastes best, but I have used canned diced tomatoes). Toss in freshly boiled pasta, salt, pepper, spinach, basil, arugula, mushrooms, whatever you want. It makes a really fresh-tasting pasta dish. Sometimes I skip the fish, sometimes I skip the tomatoes if it’s winter.

I get many of the same items you just talked about 😊 We love to mix the canned salmon with the cream cheese, top with a little everything bagel seasoning, and dip our einkorn or gf crackers in it… 😋
Also another fav is using the cream cheese with eggs, some butter, and a little vanilla extract, to make a gluten free crepe, and my son likes to fill his with a little cream cheese and raspberries. We love our Azure drops! Thank you for showing us your haul. ✨

When my dad found out he had a heart problem, mom stopped frying most foods. Salmon patties turned into salmon loaf. Mix it however you normally would for patties. Put in a baking dish and cook like a meatloaf. Or put in a microwave dish, with a hole on the middle, so it cooks evenly, and microwave

That was the most honest advertisement I've ever seen in my life. I'm going to look into this company and see what products they have to offer because I'm pretty sure they'll have something that I need or like that I can't find anywhere else in our local area and I'll leave about 45 minutes from the nearest grocery store. I get so tired of seeing a product that I need but the local grocery stores don't offer.

One way I use to compare costs is by-the-meal: How much did it cost to produce that plate of food? Some friends were, for a time, into those meal delivery services, like Hello Fresh, where you get the prepackaged and mostly precut raw ingredients sufficient for one meal for two people. They were singing the service's praise, "only" $9.00 per meal. (It's much more now.) I told them the meals I make generally run maybe $3.00 per. If you're comparing the service to a restaurant: yes, it's cheaper. But compared to ordinary home cooking it's three times the price.

I know you're a Christian, so hopefully you don't mind this pagan heart enjoying your content, but mentioning wassail definitely caught my attention. I've never heard anyone outside pagan circles call it that, it's just 'mulled cider' to most everyone that I know. But wassailing is one of my favorite old traditions, and was used in the ancient days to try and ensure a good harvest the following year, so definitely would fit well with the farming/homesteading lifestyle! Any chance you'd share your wassail recipe? I like seeing the different spice blends people use.

Canned salmon..... salmon and peas with bowtie pasta. I either make a butter/wine sauce , a light white sauce or my unofficial version of cacio e pepe. Sprnk
E a little parm or Romano on top. It is yummy and way easier and more economical than poaching a salmon filet.

    SALMON CASSEROLE
    4 cups of rice precooked
    Canned salmon
    Cheddar Cheese
    Olives or mixed veggies (optional)
    Basically you just layer it
Rice/salmon/veggies/cheese I do two layers of this with a thin layer of rice with cheese sprinkled on top cook for 25min at 350F. 🤤
I cook mine in an enamel cast-iron and for a family of 6 we usually have leftovers.

Years ago I made a recipe that was delicious that was basically bagels and lox that used canned salmon. Its essentially a strata egg casserole that uses bagels as the bread. It was delightful with dill and chives on top. If you have capers, thats next level. It makes a good brunch dish for entertaining or a hearty breakfast as dinner option.

Thank you for that bit about if you're going to eat whole foods you'll need to make your own conscience. It's what I needed to hear and gave me the you can do it confidence! Thank you thank you!!!

Salmon Patties are great with canned salmon, I love using it for a salmon fried rice as well! I always make a bit of extra rice and freeze it for when I need a quick meal. The frozen rice crisps beautifully, add some frozen veg and an egg and you’re done!

We do homemade Ramen like that all the time for lunch when we work from home. A can of homemade broth, a couple cakes of noodles, a can of meat, some seasoning and dried vegetables. Takes like 5-10 min and is so satisfying

I tried some microgreen seed that were on sale at the end of the season for .50 as a cover crop in one of my beds. I love it!!! I have been having mixed green salads for a few weeks now! Lots of baby spinach and kale!

I'm loving these halls! So helpful. It is also helpful to hear what you usually get at Costco. I'm moving into healthier whole foods and find it very time consuming to try to find the best deals on the best products. I watched this while doing laundry and now know where to go for things like the rice noodles.

I like using canned salmon in a white sauce with peas added, and then you can serve it over mashed potatoes or homemade toast. It's something my grandmother next door would make each week and I'd try to squeak my way into the meal because it was one of my favorites. Good memories of a very simple meal. :)

Made my first Azure order this past November and I’m hooked! I’m already looking forward to my December order 😂
I grabbed a 50lb bag of flour now that we make our own bread (thanks to the sandwich bread recipe you shared! 🥳🙌🏽) and it’s soooo much cheaper buying it in bulk than at the store! Looking forward to trying more stuff from Azure 🤗 would love to see what you do with the dried citrus slices 🤩

Will you go over any canning stuff on this channel? Specifically canning meats for convenience, or other convenience foods to help those of us trying to move away from the grocery stores as much?

If you have ever tasted the dehydrated oranges, omw so yummy! Many people in my dh group suggested dipping them in chocolate... can't go wrong with chocolate.

Just found your channel and love it already-can you please do a video for making your own Greek yogurt? I’m wanting to learn how to make it since we buy so much every week, both fruity and plain full fat. This video is helpful for giving me a peek into bulk buying for my family…I’m by no means an expert cook, and being a late newlywed and with already 2 under 2, I’m having to budget and cook much more than I ever have! And thanks so much for the great content!
Wanted to add: The first video of yours I watched was the best sandwich bread recipe, I tried it (have made bread all of once in my life) and it turned out fantastic (even with adding an extra cup of flour)!

FYI I tried roasted radishes for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Holy smoke, how do they taste like potatoes? It's awesome. I just bought 5 more packs of radishes in different varieties from MI Gardener. Eeek thats over 1000 seeds. 😮😊

I wouldn’t so fixated on the sell dates. My Husband did extensive research on those dates and the food is still good when in proper a storage for way longer then the date stamped on the product.

I am so on the fence about Azure. I want to really work on less reliance on the grocery store in 2024 and cooking more from scratch so having a well stocked pantry is going to be a must and I believe Azure could help with that but I also think it might be a budget buster. I’m going to have to sit down and do an up front cost comparison between it and the 2 chain stores I use and see where they shake out. Thank you for sharing!! 😊

5 lb white chocolate 😂😂😂 Enjoy!
I have a lot of complex health issues and can’t eat canned anything currently because of MCAS but I am able to eat (tolerate) Azure’s frozen Salmon and it’s actually my quick Wednesday meal after running to town. Throw in a baked sweet potato and steamed broccoli and YUM.

I add a slice or two of dehydrated lemons into soups with a tomato base and it really brightens the soup.

Oooh. Loving this. I haven’t made salmon patties in a long time, because I don’t necessarily trust the sustainablity of grocery store salmon. I’ll look at azure’s salmon and tuna the next time I make an order.
A favorite fast meal in our house is fried cabbage and apples with some sort of sausage - bratwurst, usually. I can throw it on the table in about 15-20 minutes if the sausage is defrosted.
I know a thing or two about real convenience food in my house - with fewer boys at the moment. My youngest is Melia’s age and at home commuting to college. I buy dried bulk items from azure (and elsewhere) but a handful of dried mushrooms thrown into whatever stock you have on hand with some garlic, ginger, soy sauce, some spicy pepper and frozen puréed pumpkin and a handful of wontons that we make 2-3 times per year makes a delicious, nutritious, hearty meal in no time. We usually julienne some carrots, celery, spring onion greens (which I keep sprouting in a jar in my SW facing kitchen window pretty much year-round.)
But the real reason I got excited was the radish sprout content. A vendor at my regional farmer’s market had leek microgreens before thanksgiving. I bought a container and served them with a smoked very local oyster charcuterie board for thanksgiving and bought another container. Leek microgreens are the absolute bombdigity! Especially if you have the greenhouse you do have. I’m considering bringing my growlight shelf to the kitchen and putting in the window because I don’t have your greenhouse, but I wonder about my feline mischief makers. I’ve always put them in my elder son’s bedroom, because he’s 23 and largely on his own, but for some reason balks at sleeping in a room with intense lights that burn 16 hours per day.

The Costco close by me doesn’t carry and organic Parmesan cheese and I think Azure’s is a cleaner and healthier option. I hate to break the news to you but the white chocolate chips ingredients list brown rice maltodextrin and that was the reason I’d didn’t order them for my chocolate bark. I think I am going to try the Greek yogurt starter and the salmon 😊

Hi Jess! Would love to know your recipe for salmon cakes. I love them but I have never found a recipe I was crazy about.
