2007 RetroSkins Highlights: Washington Redskins vs New York Giants

- We go back to 2007 for this do-or-die contest for the Washington Redskins, who were facing an uphill battle to the post-season after a mid-season 4-game slump derailed a once promising year. Having regained their winning ways with a Thursday Night win vs the Bears 10-days prior, the Redskins went into the Meadowlands (of all places) desperate for a win to even their record at 7-7 and keep unlikely playoff hopes alive.
On a blustery cold night in New Jersey (weren't they all...?), with a journeyman back-up QB at the helm for his first start in 10 years, the Redskins steered into the wind and past the Giants to claim this upset victory.
It wasn't pretty on either side (unless you love defense). The Giants dropped a million Eli Manning passes, while Todd Collins did just enough (only 8 completions) to support a smothering defense and a hard-nosed rushing attack by the Redskins. Washington avenged a tough loss to New York from week 3, kept their hopes alive and set the stage for a memorable showdown in Minneapolis against the Vikings the following week for control of the final NFC Wild Card playoff spot.
The venerable Al Michaels and John Madden on the call for the first of two back-to-back Sunday Night win-or-go-home road victories for Joe Gibbs and the '07 Redskins.
PS This particular game (and others from this period of shift from analog to digital TV signal) has some baked in digital compression artifact (part of the TV signal) that was hard to remove without rendering the video too blurry. Really wanted it to look a little sharper but, alas...
Welcome back RetroSkins!!
For real. Thought he had abandoned us there for a moment
RetroSkins is still going strong. Just thought with so much football happening in the NFL season, a good time to take a break. Plenty more good stuff to share. 👊🏼
@@RetroSkins Awesome! I understand. Looking forward to it!
Santana Moss, Chris Cooley, Clinton Portis, Mike Sellers, and the great Sean Taylor. That was my squad. RIP Sean Taylor. I'll never forget that guy.
That graphic of Todd Collins going 10 years between starts is a nice reminder that it's been decades without consistency at QB. Hopefully we find it in the draft this year.
Love seeing these!! This is my favorite channel! Keep it up! HTTR
I miss the Redskins, nice road win against a division rival. Thanks for the upload btw.
Goddamn love the Redskins
This is one amazing channel and great to revisit these games
Windy one for sure and what a field goal !
Laron Landy used to piss me off so bad sometimes
Giants are the superbowl champs
Redskins beat the giants
Redskins are the superbowl champs by transative property
Besides the posse, Clark Monk and Sanders, we had Charlie Taylor and Bobby Mitchell. Don’t know if he would have been considered a wide receiver Bobby Mitchell that is I believe that Albert Connell and Santana Moss besides the posse Connell and Moss the best receivers we ever had.
Those were the days, Gibbs, Madden, Fletcher, Santana, Portis...
Missed these videos! More from Terry Allen days, Brad Johnson in 99-00, and the end of Darrell Greens career with the arrow helmets. Amazing work!
Oh hell yeah brother. Even tho we havent won a playoff game since 2005 lol
Lorenzo Alexander playing guard in this game 🤯
Man Todd Collins didn't have the strongest arm at all but the guys touch and precision was great. If the game wasn't so windy he would have had 2 to 3 more touchdowns
for a team that won a super bowl the giants looked terrible
Thanks for this videos !!!!
Rough weather indeed. I remember the players saying the flight back was white knuckling.
This season will always be remembered for losing Sean but what I remember was the Dallas game we won by 21 then I believe we lost in playoffs by 21 I was happy but sad at the same time
Excellent selection!! This brought back many fond memories of my childhood.
Easy to forget how good Coach Janky Spanky was back then.
I appreciate the videos as always, and I just noticed a small detail. The thumbnail is from a 2008 game (note the "GU" patch from that season).
You have a sharp eye! Surprised this wasn’t spotted before. We’ll have the graphics department sacked - after this gets fixed.
I remember this windy Sunday night game!!!
That was an exciting stretch at the end of that season!
great upload
I don’t like “slumps.” Slumps are for undisciplined football teams. They go on hot streaks, and then when the motivation wears off, they don’t force themselves to stay disciplined and they snooze for 3 or 4 before it catches up to them and then it’s a scramble to answer back before the press shows up with pitchforks and hanging ropes. Truly great teams win even when it’s a chore. Ever wonder why teams get into “slumps”? Wouldn’t you think it’s an underlying reason that correlates all those games together in a row instead of bad luck?? C’mon now… “slumps” 😏
Disappointing season just like 06😞
