@elvisvx1: I’m not sure what you’re trying to do but Rslinx is the software for communication. It’s not a communication protocol. You can use the software to configure the driver for your communication. But I don’t think you can setup a default driver/communication protocol. You can have multiple drivers added to your communication tree but you have to go to the right branch or the right driver to see your device. Thank you for subscribing to my channel.
Thank you for your video. My plant still has a few of the old Panelview Plus 600 that are connected to PLC over RS232. I would like to upgrade them to current model. Would you recommend Panelview Plus 7 as the modern equivalent? The other half of the problem is upgrading the old PLC! Ha!
@jkuebler89: Glad I could help. I know the Panelview Plus 600 probably was long discontinued. However, you should be careful on your pick on Panelview Plus 7 because I think most of them do not come with the 9 pin serial port. Upgrading SLC 5/03 or Micrologix with rslogix 500 to compactLogix/ControlLogix with studio5000 should not be a problem. Rockwell does have the converter tool for that but there still is a lot of work for us to do such as IO configuration, mapping, communication, etc. Thank you for your support to my channel.
Why did you use a mini gender changer and a null modem cable? It was not the same just to connect the db9 rs232 directly to the panelview? (The end of that one is female too).
@Jesús Raúl Rodríguez Higuera: It would be awesome if it can work directly the way you suggested. However, per Rockwell TechConnect "QA885" published on 02/29/2020, 1761-CBL-PM02 (with null-modem adapter) is required for "PanelView Plus Serial Communications with MicroLogix". I don't have a null modem cable that has male on one end and female on the other end. That's why I have to have a mini gender changer. FYI, if you want it to look nice with only 1 cable between Micrologix and HMI, you can use either 2711-NC21 (5m/16.4 ft) or 2711-NC22 (15m/49 ft). With those cables, you will not need a null modem. Thank you for your comment. Please let me know if my answer is good enough and just let me know if you have any further questions.
@Jesús Raúl Rodríguez Higuera: I think what you are working on is only a Panelview800 HMI which is much cheaper than a Panelview Plus HMI. You will only need a 1761-CBL-PM02 cable between your Micro830 and a Panelview 800 HMI. Check out the below video and let me know if it helps. ua-cam.com/video/JKhD3Xf2VZ0/v-deo.html

It is a pretty outdated setup but I am sure Allen Bradley products are pretty reliable and durable that can keep running for many more years. Thank you for your support to my channel.
I have reset fault in PLC through RS Logix, but after that communication with HMI is not working, what might be the problem? PLC is micrologix 1200 and HMI is panelview 1000
@vivekpv7496: It is very possible you have reset the communication protocol for all the ports on the PLC back to the default DF-1. Thank you for your support to my channel.
@vivekpv7496: RS linx is only the software to open the communication bridge between your PC and the HMI. Factorytalk software allow you setting up the communication between your PLC and the HMI. You might need to watch the below video for the ethernet configuration of the the HMI, you will need to do it on the HMI itself. Once again thank you for your support on my channel. ua-cam.com/video/ymdAcA2Nv6g/v-deo.html
@Edimar Santos: The reason is you cannot use only the PM02 cable to directly connect the PLC to the HMI. It will not communicate without the null modem. Of course, you can find a null modem cable with 1 male and 1 female to eliminate the mini gender changer in the video. The male of the null modem can go directly to the PM02 cable famle and the end (female) can go to the HMI. Hope this answers your question. Thank you for your comment and subscribing to my channel. Should you have any more questions, just let me know.
