I'm actually surprised they got a male singer to do the opening for this. Usually for romantic comedies they go straight for a light hearted girly song no matter what; so hearing this jazzy "there's going to be some drama" theme play with the dude singing like it's a 1980s night time drama is kind of a nice breath of fresh air.
This why I think people love this anime, making it unique and having a nostalgia theme song (especially the Japanese).
Well, this show is somewhat of a parody of other rom-coms.
hinamatsuri's first ending was 80s like as well. It really is a nice change from the high pitched op's/ed's.

I think it's because of the metaphore "Love is war", a male voice give a more serious tone to the opening and permit to emphasize on the seducting process (which is usually initiated by guys), the main theme of the serie. Well it's all speculation but that's what it made me think about

It seems like it's a standard release date for most albums, music producers have a unspoken deal or something so the sales are more fair and spread out between singers/bands.

2019 started with a bang. I watch mob psycho, promised Neverland, dororo, rise of shield hero and Kaguya Sama love is war. Heard domestic no Kanika is good but yet to start. I feel this year's anime will surpass last year's in just one season itself.
I agree with that considering that a many great anime are also getting new seasons this year like Boku no Hero Academia, One punch Man and (well new half of a season)Attack on Titan this year is really promising.
