Back when Topaz launched, i only pulled on her banner because of Guinaifen (DoT gang since 1.0) and got a Topaz early on.
Tbh, she feels good to use and Ratio did make her better for sure. That's why RRAT team is famous, tons of energy, tons of follow ups. BUT, as you pointed out, it's a ultra premium team.
But there isn't a be all end all team in HSR. You can play him with other debuffers, you can play him hypercarry, and so on.
This whole discussion is akin to Black Swan and Kafka. Yes, both are broken together, but there are good options like Sampo e4, Guinaifen and so on. Heck, some people use her on other comps just for the def shred and arcana alone.
Yup! that's why I also offered some alternatives. At the end of the day, there's so much RNG per account so here's really no definitive guide, unless you spend to get everything, which I personally don't encourage.
6:30 welt is also a great unit for dr ratio, applying slow and imprisonment, and many people might have him from the standard gacha
Welt is a wonderful unit!! He really should be used on your break team tho if you hab 1 as he can make the break mode last longer allowing to more super break damage

Great suggestion!! I’ve personally haven’t had the resources to build and test it properly. Is juggling their SP hard? I always feel like I’d need to keep on using Welt’s skill 😂
@@SeraGachas actually yeah it’s not the most sp neutral/positive combo that’s true 😅 I personally run those two with aventurine and clara though who both mostly do basic atks so it’s not been the biggest issue for me yet

For what it costs that team is not worth it. Just use Ratio on a normal hypercarry team with a debuffer+ a harmony unit

Just remove Aventurine from the team comp and you are left with the same damage and clearing potential for less resources.
While Topaz and Robin enable ALL other f2p friendly team comps besides Dr. Ratio. Herta, Himeko, Xueyi and Clara all love Topaz and Robin.
Also you only need Topaz’s light cone, Dr. Ratio can use the SU lc and Robin can use the free event lc.
If you want to save even more jade then skip topaz entirely and use pela/guinaifen instead. But if you are F2P and already have Acheron then pela and guini belong with Acheron. Which makes a stronger case for Topaz.
Also if you are a Clara main or plan to use Clara, Topaz is almost a must have for her when fighting enemies that can apply debuffs without triggering Clara’s counter attack because Topaz can focus that target while Clara deals with everything else. Since said enemies are all weak to fire thus far.

Thanks for reminding me of how Dr. Ratio works, since I kept playing on Auto-battle I never really bothered remembering each of my characters mechanics. No wonder in my FuA team Dr. R doesn't do much FuA, it was because I wasn't hitting the requirements enough.

@@underanimtions8782the problem with auto with ratio is when selecting enemies you can see how high your follow up attack percentage is but on auto you can‘t select the enemy, so it doesn’t show you the percentage and he might just be targeting an enemy with let‘s say 60% chance for follow up
No prob! tbh, I even forgot about his buffs from attacking enemies with more debuffs. It's normal, we just need a refresher once in a while XD
i had planned to pull Ratio in the beginning, him being free was great cause i could pull his LC. i pulled Robin, so i figured i might as well try for Topaz and her LC too. i think he's a good investment IF you got him for free.
that gave me time to save up on my NA account. i didn't pull alot, and had been saving since 1.3. pulled Ratio LC in 1.6, saved and then went for Sparkle. So i had tons saved up to invest more into Ratio.
but again, new players, it's a lot and the 4* debuffers work fine for him.

It is a good thing that he doesn't necessarily need both Topaz and Robin, and it's really just a matter of juggling resources (jades) to get what's best for your account (or your favorite characters).
I like the reverse hypercarry playstle (2 debuffers) so he's pretty much only going to get better as I continue to collect debuffers.
If you have both Topaz, Robin and Aventurine in Ratio team without Topaz & Aventurine LC: it is better to use ERR rope in Ratio so he wont rely too much on debuff while still being able to follow up more.
I appreciate this video since Dr. Ratio was my first and only DPS for a long while, so I had to build him, and used him with serval and Gepard for shock and freeze respectively (occasionally), and while I love my Adventurine, the lack of debuff outside of the ult makes it more difficult although I've had some luck with trend. I think if I'm going to do a FUA team for him, it may be without Topaz since I haven't had much luck (or jades) for her, although I did somehow manage to get Robin at early pity on 50/50, so... that was something. LOL Recently, I completed his trailblaze continuance with him, I've learned that I could probably get him to work with Robin, Herta for FUA, and Adventurine.

Tbh, if I were in your shoes, I’d get Robin instead of Topaz as well. And I think part of the fun of playing gacha games would be trying to make things work with what you have XD
I think fua team is more an argument of f2p vs p2w. FUA is a niche team. It is true that its best team is extremely unfriendly for f2p. But the same can be said for Acheron and Kafka. You can use 4 stars with them, but their best teams are super expensive as well. Kafka, BS, HH, and RM/Sparkle. Then there is Acheron E2, FX/Aventurine with market or e2 Aventurine + LC, RM, e4 Pela with pearl or SW. I understand his requirements make it so you need debuffs, but he can be strong with a pela/guin/sampo team. You don’t HAVE to get the fua team and it’s just being recommended a lot because of Robin who, in my opinion a niche support.
I wouldn’t say niche team, considering Dr. Ratio was free, but I do agree about how not ftp friendly a lot of the best versions of these teams are. But a Ratio team is more unfriendly imo than an Acheron team is coz of the amount of debuffs, needed which may need eidolons, a gacha LC or a 5* character for convenience/ consistency. (Aside from Acheron just being broken and everyone should have gotten her)
I would like to defend Robin’s honor though and say that she is not niche. A party-wide dmg, crit dmg, atk boost + action advance is pretty strong imo. The FUA dmg buff is just as niche as Ruan Mei’s break effect buff is i think, and no one calls her niche for that.
@@SeraGachas from my experience I’m using that FUA team…e2s1 aven, e1s1, topaz, e2s1 robin, + e0s0 ratio. Then I have a Acheron, RM, FX, Pela team. I’ve tried swapping Robin and RM and the difference comes with Robin ult uptime. Robin feels bad in the Acheron team because it can take 2 turns to get her ult back and dmg drops off heavily without…whereas RM feels good in the FUA team. I’ve also had some fun doing the new HMC + Ruan Mei. I do know you can put Robin in other teams like dot but she doesn’t feel as versatile as RM imo. I guess that’s why I’m saying is, I feel full fua team and Robin feels niche because I think you’re better off just slotting 2 debuffs or 1 multi debuffer + buffer teams with ratio and he still does well. Ideally we’ll get more fua chars in future that work well with ratio or maybe a 4 star fua with debuffs…who knows!
@@philupmycupp1 aah i see, i see. I guess Ruan Mei is a lot easier to use. What I like about Robin’s ult is that it’s like you’re getting an extra cycle. Specially in the harder content with cycle limits. Mostly though, I’m happy to have 2 decent harmony supports who can support my dual dps lifestyle 😂

As someone who runs this team you are probably better off running hypercarry with sw or Pela
When I first got Ratio, I was honestly really excited to get Topaz. As of currently, not so much anymore, I'm even skipping both her and Robin. I think its because I don't wanna hyperinvest into a single team but Ratio already feels complete just with Little Gui. Aventurine was a luxury pull for me but he feels like the last piece of the puzzle for my ratio. Probably not gonna bother getting other teammates unless its someone I really like or really broken for him.

I've been investing in FUA teams since the start, but I usually just run him with a sustain, Guinaifen and whichever harmony unit is free XD

Im glad how expensive his premium team was brought up but unfortunately I'm a slave to FuA so I do have Aven, Robin and Topaz. I actually don't regret it at all. Its extremely fun using them

Here's my thought, You can hyper carry anyone with 2 harmony character or Debuffer but it makes the game extremely boring and bland.
FUA Team, DOT team, Acheron debuffer team etc. are fun composition that makes the game more enjoyable than the usual 1 hypercarry x the same team comp.
You can run Dr.Ratio with the boring Harmony + Pela but it kills the enjoyment of the game for me.
Team building and team variation keeps the game fresh.
It's like not getting the entire exodia card set and only play with the head.
That’s true! I’m also not too big a fan of hypercarry, that’s why I got so excited and stopped pulling when Robin got announced during Sparkle’s banner. Having to adjust the whole team depending on what I need feels less brain dead for me.
Tingyun and Pela are far too underrated for Ratio, considering how reliant Ratio is with his Ult. It’s far cheaper, and on good relic Ratio with his LC it’s arguably better than E0S0 RAT team, the full FUA team starts to get a lot better when you get more golds on Robin and especially Topaz
Truue, Tingyun is pretty good on him since the Ultimate’s FUAs are guaranteed. At least getting an LC is cheaper than a character, I don’t think I’ll ever get an E1 Topaz though.

I pulled Topaz on first run with LC back when she had very few teammates (crit Kafka + Topaz scuffed comp was my go-to lmao), so I was VERY hyped for free Ratio. You can make the team work fairly well with just E1 or S1 on Topaz, I would just suggest using RM over Robin on that team bc RM's break delay is actually a debuff and it's running most, if not all, of the time if you have her built well. If you have e0s0 Topaz, you can run a debuffer instead of RM for Ratio. I ran that team with whatever sustainer and always full starred MoC without issues. That said I got Robin and e1 Topaz this time around, and now I have Aventurine with his LC and.... yeah it's completely cracked. Necessary? Not at all. Amazing QoL for my favorite team/characters? Absolutely. I can 0 cycle with Ratio on Cruising and Robin on the event LC. The perfect version is expensive, but you really don't need it.

I play the complete follow up team just because I got Topaz for… other reasons, when she came out, so when Aventurine arrived I already had half of the team plus I needed another sustain
We're lucky we were able to get her a while back. Recently it's just been raining FUA units and it's getting hard to keep up XD;

I disagree that you need e1s1 on topaz. I run e0s0 topaz and i always have 3 debuffs except for mayhe the first attack, since aventurines ult uptime is really consistent imo (but dr ratios technique can help in moc) also, i like using the 4 star lightcone mentioned in this video on aventurine (it does reduce damage and survivability but not enough to matter imo). I dont think its a whole lot stronger than just using sw and topaz instead but i mostly got the team because its fun to use

I currently have guaranteed pity and i'd love to get Robin tbh, but I have Ruan Mei, Sparkle, Bronya, not to mention all the 4 star harmony chars
Im honestly considering getting the new male fox nihility character coming in 2.4 tbh hoping I can use him in both my Acheron team and a Dr Ratio team , I have e0 s1 Topaz as well
That’s fine! You already have 2 strong harmony units, and Dr. Ratio doesnt absolutely need Robin. If you still want her later, there will always be a rerun.
The future nihility unit seems like a great pickup for both of them, i am hoping though that he can apply different kinds of debuffs instead of stacking the same one for more Dr. Ratio dmg (from his passive, more debuffs = more crit/dmg) since the only single character who can do that now is SW.
I fully agree its a premium team, but I think all teams will eventually have their premium version and that premium will always be updating. I got topaz and her lightcone on her first banner despite everyone saying she wasn't worth it back then because she wasn't a good main DPS. But I saw the writing on the wall, she was a sub dps that buffed my jing yuan, and any future follow up characters, then we got free ratio and people who took a chance on topaz were rewarded. Just like how people that took a chance on kafka were rewarded with black swan. in 2 years time do I think the BEST follow up team will be Action Economy (topaz, aventurine, ratio, robin) probably not. but sustains and supports last longer than dps, so my money is on ratio being replaced before topaz.
If you don't have the jades and you need to pick 1, pick robin, but if you missed out on free ratio and you're wondering should you get topaz or wait for ratio re-run I say either pick up topaz, or skip both of them, because the next era of follow up DPS will probably come within the year.
This is great input! I personally picked up Topaz for my Jing Yuan the first time as well, and yes, both her and Kafka are enablers / drivers for their own types of team so it’s a bit hard to replace them. And it is harder to replace a really good Harmony unit since they’re more versatile. Mostly I made this so people won’t have to feel like they need all these characters just to make their free character work.
@@SeraGachas that's absolutely correct, ratio is really selfish and while he is currently best dps for the follow up meta as you pointed out he himself actually works more like acherons debuff stacking meta.
My guess is the next big follow up dps won't care about debuffs at all for their own kit, and that's why robin has none, instead I think they will have everything to do with performing a ton of smaller follow ups over and over to better synergise with robin and topaz. That's just my guess though, since it seems the design team has moved to a direction where set teams best highlight the last "needed" piece of their puzzle, being robin at this point.
I bet the next big dot character will end up doing something that synergises with Blackswans kit in some way and so on and so forth for all team comps.

@@-ssamurafimswithdiveluv7179 no, honestly the wording of a lot of the stuff in this game starts to feel like trying to understand a Magic the gathering card. I start skimming. I get a basic understanding of the character, like “dude does attack and then does another one” and then mostly just learn the deeper mechanics of a character as I go.

Nah, he doesn't need Topaz or Robin to work properly. Just put him in a team with a debuffer like Pela or Silver Wolf and you're good to go

I got Robin in like 70 pulls then did 20 on topaz and got her lol so I really want to use this team already have all the members and the next few banners don't stick out to me but if the rerun houhou or run mei I would try to get them. I feel like one of them is running next batch and in worse case scenario they both run. So currently going for a second copy of topaz right now and wait for her sig
That’s great!! Congrats!! Personally as a rule of thumb, I go for the LC first since it takes less pulls to reach pity and you can switch it between characters. Alsoo, someone i knew had a dream that Ruan Mei might be coming with Firefly.

if you have the event Silver Wolf LC (Before the Tutorial Mission Starts) you can use that, other than that... I'm not sure actually

I'm sorry, that's the only 4 star LC that's able to apply a debuff. The other 3 that can are Kafka's, Silver Wolf's and Acheron's 5 Star LCs, so it's even more impractical. I suggest you add Gallagher to the team if you have him for his Ult's debuff, or add another character who can apply a DOT. I still highly suggest using Guinaifen instead of Pela if you have her (or both of them). Since she can already apply 2 debuffs at E0. Hope this has been helpful!
@@SeraGachas I have guinaifen but I use her on my acheron team pela is not useful on that team since she does not generate any petals for acheron , I have robin and aventurine and I'm out of pulls for topaz I guess I have to use her as it is
@@NoName-kg4ve for now just use whatever free Nihility LC you have and build her with high ERR(Energy Regeneration Rate) so she can ult consistently

When you talk about it, Dr. Ratio is indeed an expensive unit. I only realize it by now because i already have the best team comp for him (Ratio, aventurine, silver wolf, robin) as a f2p. Btw silver wolf is so much better than topaz for Dr. Ratio since you just need effect hit rate and level up her ultimate to multiply Dr. Ratio damage while topaz need to be well build to equal the total damage output offered by silver wolf

For my new ftp account though, I’ll probably pick up Silver Wolf for him as well since it’s just too convenient. Too bad I missed her there though.

@@SeraGachas Right! i had the funds and i got the whole premium team now Aventurine-ratio-topaz-robin with only monthly pass and savings.... Robin changed my account fr and since ratio was for free i was able to pull for Robin and Topaz LC ( topaz gotten back in 1.4) ..
