With all the experience I have with pulling out people from sand or just being in the sand. I have noticed that with my f150, when the 4x4 would not work. I would just shut the truck off for a few minutes and turn the truck back on. Then it works. I think it is a safety thing when it starts to overheat from towing or just a hot day . I could be wrong but I has worked for me multiple times! So if this happens to you with a Ford. Try it. It may work for you. :)
Damn! I live on the Texas Coast & I’ve made thousands from pulling folks out of the beach sand during holidays & weekends. We used to pull for Free until we started breaking & having to replace parts. I had a 97’ Jeep TJ 6 1/2” Long Arm Lift On 35’s w/ lockers front & rear & I cannot tell ya how many “New Trucks, Hummers, Ambulances, etc. that I’ve pulled because their “electronic 4x4” didn’t work or front hubs wouldn’t lock up. I pulled so many new 3/4 ton Chevy & Ford 4x4’s w/ my little 4 banger. You guys know how to pull, use soft straps & work em like a rubber band. I will never buy a new 4x4 unless it has a Manual 4 wheel drive selector on the floor. I’m 50yrs old & recommend you people do the same. Electronics fail when you need them the most.
3:25: "Oh, wow, man!~ What are those?" "Uh, those are called 'locking hubs'. I guess you're now going to ask me what that shift lever on the floor is for?"
It would have been a lot easier if they had lowered the air pressure of the tires down to 5 to 10 pounds and refilled them after the had gotten out of the soft sand.
Glad dude got out!!!! Those situations suck!!! Hey bottom line he had some help from his buds!!! It's all good!!! It's tough to be on top of it all!!!! Sometimes we get caught up in situations and things get over our heads!!! I'm one of those cats that's more prepared for stuff. You know what sometimes I wish I wasn't cause it prevents me from just going out and having some fun for the fear of not having my "t's" crossed or my "i's" dotted!!!!
The guy with the Orange 1.25” x 30’ Freedom Rope bought his Freedom Rope from us today and pretty sure he used it at least 10 times in one hour! Going to be a crazy Memorial Day Weekend...
Thank you because the comments are just so negative. Most folks don't know until they know. They just need to stop with the hateful discouraging comments. They act like they were birthed out as experts. Life lessons are necessary to learn and grow.
Great video ,you guys got a lot of patience, needed in include a 4WD education fee, like $50 bucks and 100 bucks for the real dum ones, nice work, these people are lucky to have you guys around to call and those ropes are the magic, they sure save your drivetrains, my buddy uses one to help people out and said to has paid for itself a couple of times already,
Looked the same as the dunes I go to in michigan I air down to 5 psi. You can always tell when someone didnt air down because they get stuck halfway up the first hill. It's usually guys in brand new trucks with more money than brains too. I love watching mall crawlers get stuck lmfao.
To bad he didn't pay a little extra for the common sense package that would have prevented the whole situation.and airing down the trailer would have helped instead of dragging a plow.
@@johnmine5609 your the idiot. Airing down the trailer helps immensely when pulling through sand. It lifts the trailer on top instead of slicing through. Know your shit before looking like a bumbass online.
yep airing down non drive tires are equall as important as drive wheels. Airing down not only increases the contact patch, the deformation of the tire allows the tire to not dig as sharpely into the sand. the rolling of the rubber helps a lot!!
Check your relay next to the master cylinder that operates your transfer case selector. They cost $10, go out and it won't engage your 4 wheel drive at the transfer case.
Why I like my 1972 3/4 Ton IH Travelall with manual locking hubs and regular mechanical shifter and a NP 205 TC. 16 inch wheels which give plenty of floatation when you air down.
That’s what happens when you put some ghetto ass rims and tires on your truck and aren’t smart enough to know how to use a 4x4. Probably the same people riding their quads with no helmets and in flip flops.
to be able to engage 4x4 on the f 250 you need to have the shift selector on neutral them turn the knob to 4x4 that how it works on this truck, you can have the high 4x4 engage on the movement but not the low setting
I swear every f250 diesel ive had has been a 4x4 problem. My first I had to get out, take a mallet to the box, the second just worked when it wanted to and the third never worked but two times in its life. For whatever reason the V10 f250 I have now, works everytime I need it. Going on 5 years. Maybe the weight in the front? Dunno.
Great vid mate👍 I am Aussie we don't run trucks like that here Much this is patrol and LandCruiser country I must say but those big trucks go better in the sand than I thought being so heavy and all...
You MUST air down the trailer tires as well, they will float on top instead of plowing the sand! I pull a 16K 5th wheel on the sand all the time because I drop them to 30lbs.
I broke the rear drive shaft in my f250 and I had no choice I had you still get to work so I locked it in 4-wheel drive and disconnect the drive shaft completely and drove for a month before I was finally able to afford all the u-joints and driveshaft
There are two styles of those hubs. Manual locking, and auto locking. Both you can turn off manually. If you have auto locking and and leave them in auto...they are supposed to lock when you switch onto 4 wheel in the cab. If they dont...you have a vacuum leak to them. Never had the auto bullshit...mine were manual and worked all the time.
That happened to me once in the mud at lake success, in the mud. Trying to show off my F250 4 door lariat. I engaged the 4x4 lite came on. And I was stuck for hours in the dark until a relative pulled me out. The next day I found out about the locking hubs. Being drunk off my ass didn’t help any😂
*Exactly why i love my AWD if it doesn't pull it's time for a transmission shop. that truck may not have had as much of an issue as it appears. could be a fuse or relay causing it not to work too. Plus that trailer was ENTIRELY too heavy to be out on the beach in the soft sand, he needed to be closer to the road with that thing or buy one of those feather lite campers. or maybe a Chevroet like the one that pulled him out*
Ford ESOF (Electronic Shift on the Fly) is famous for failing (vacuum operated). Ask me how I know.... The hubs can be locked in manually, however. The camping areas at Pismo are all pretty much all soft sand, so you can get plenty of entertainment watching people deal with being stuck to their axles.
Next time take the air out of the tires, because too much air keeps them spinning. When I used to ride mountain bikes, that is what we did. Same applies to the snow. You really have to deflate your tires! What does a girl know?
I can attest the 7 gallons of gas is probably true, I had to pull a dually ram out with my f150 multiple times and had to have it floored like that for a while, went from a quarter tank to 20 miles till empty real quick😂
Right about not using 4wd prior or hw would had known. Electric actuator is not relevant. He has manual locking hubs on the front axle. He either forgot or didn’t know about them. Good thing those homies pointed them out.
Marty B bro he has a bad ass truck...!!! I feel sad now that I got rid of my 2009 6.4, I miss it now. I should have kept it, love ur dads teuck , awesome
That white Ford was making all the Fords on the beach look bad lol
Maybe another couple light bars on that truck would've helped him through it

Manual hubs are better

Most underrated beach and sunset in the US, love me some Pismo!!!!
They have a good attitude and that's what the world needs.
I would never trust someone else enough to stand between the truck and trailer.
Nothing would happen even if he did back up into the hitch. Nothing! Get some common sense.
YOU CAN TELL BY THE WHEEL CHOICE HE DONT KNOW HOW TO OPERATE A 4X4.
die warlock nothing really.... they’re only for the truck to roll on.
Well he did buy wheels that cover the hubs...
Worst tire wheel combination possible for sand. The black truck was only slightly better.

Pull off the center cap of those fuel wheels to Manuel lock the front hubs also don’t forget to air down before coming in.
Common sense don’t apply in this situation 🤦🏽♂️

Your camry would have done better then this truck
It wouldn't if it was that same driver, he had no clue.
@@lancebangwell that is true and im pretty sure he had it in 2wd he is just dumb
Your camry would pull that trailer ,wow
That’s what you get for wheels that don’t allow access to the locking hubs
Don't you know? Trucks are meant to look cool now not be functional.
Chrome and low profile off road tires with the skinniest contact patch ever!
Hell Yeah they wanna look like there towing a invisible trailer with there loud ass exhaust
I bought a used f250 with the lockers covered first thing I did is throw the front covers in the trash!!

All you off-road experts should chill. Y’all been stuck before and if you haven’t then you haven’t been off-roading.
Been stuck before but always pulled out by myself. Floor mats are more than decorations.
Yep been stuck a few times but never in that little bit of sand.
Getting stuck happens to everyone... Staying stuck only happens to idiots.

Beautiful sounds of that powerstroke
All u got to do is air down. Pismos sand is different than all other dune areas. Air the trailer down as well. Very simple.
Yup it's as easy as that

Its funny seeing these biggo trucks get stuck :') i had no issues with my 06 Toyota Tundra. Probably because i wasnt a dumbass 🤔

Rich Mexicans from the valley.
Went to pismo a few weeks back with a 350 dually with a 40 foot trailer. We didn’t get stuck once. Air down to 15 on every tire and don’t stop.
15 seems high even on stock tires I ran 8 psi and never got stuck
Only real four-wheel-drive‘s cover their locking hubs with center cabs 😂 😂😂😂
What who could imagine that something would brake on a ford
Why I like my 1972 3/4 Ton IH Travelall with manual locking hubs and regular mechanical shifter and a NP 205 TC. 16 inch wheels which give plenty of floatation when you air down.
ADP not to mention; manual locking hubs work in any situation, if automatic locking hub tires get stuck and have no traction it won’t engage.
YEAH.. KINDA LIKE A PAPER CONTRACTOR
