Love all the blink covers. Been listening to them all. It's a trip down memory lane back to high school. Great job. On all these TOYPAJ covers, the tone is awesome. I had a quick question. Do you use a little more gain/saturation on certain parts through out most of these TOYPAJ covers? The riffs are spot on without sounding too distorted, yet there's enough saturation to still give a chunky tone for all the palm muting and choruses. Not sure if you're kicking on a little more gain on certain parts, rolling the volume back, or just finding the perfect amount of gain to use throughout the entirety of the song without sounding too distorted. I always felt Tom's tone was never as distorted as people think,......at least not on enema and TOYPAJ.

I usually just record my covers at the same gain settings throughout, unless there are parts of the original song where there is clearly a less overdriven part o clean, so I compensate that by either rolling off my volume or simply record that part separately and eq and set the gain accordingly. As far as TOYPAJ, I always thought Tom’s tone on that record was very open and without too much gain compared to older records. I think his tone was perfect, the best he’s ever sounded on a record IMO, plus the mix and production is probably their best to date. If you hear subtle differences in “gain” is probably the way I pick and strum on certain parts of the song, which makes a big difference in the overall tone and gain but yeah, I keep the same level of gain throughout.
