Here is the link for our ADV Boot Buyers Guide: www.rockymountainatvmc.com/Sales/599/Buyers-Guide-ADV-DualSport-Boots We do, on most boots have videos for each specific ADV Boot on their product page where we go into a lot more detail.
I currently own a pair of Sidi Adventure Gore-Tex boots..... Awesome boots I absolutely love them.. My only gripe is they squeak. I'm looking for a different pair of boots now. Why didn't the Rev-It Discovery OutDry make the list?
Saint Mart I have the same boots and live them to. Got rid of the annoying sound by spraying the hinges with my Teflon chain spray works like a charm (but easy does it, you only need a tiny amount)
Where is the alpine stars TOUCAN (gortex) Adventure Boots .., AFAIK they were at the top of the food chain, why have they been dropped from this review ?
Island Dreaming I’m not sure why they’re not in this review, but I can give you my opinion of the 2017 model Toucans that I have. I’ve always owned AS boots, so I bought the Toucan based on my previous boots. At the time I was riding a KTM 1190 Adv R and a 350EXC-F. The boots are very flexible, which helps with them being very comfortable off the bike. The problem with that, is that the protection is limited compared to a stiff MX boot...like dramatically different. The Toucans feel like tennis shoes compared to my MX boots. The biggest issue I had with this is that on my 5-6th ride with them, the boots tore apart. Specifically, at the top buckle the boot had a plastic strap that wrapped around the boot and it completely tore off. After contacting AS, they told me that the Toucan is not a “dirt bike boot” or an off road boot, but only a boot that’s recommended for dirt roads. I was blown away that that is what they told me. I raised a stink with them about it and they finally agreed to repair the broken boot. After I sent them in, I bought another set of boots...not AS and not an “adventure boot” but rather a full MX boot. Granted, depending on how everyone rides, they may not want that stiff of a boot. I get it. But, I was sorely disappointed with the Toucan for the money I spent on them. Just my two cents.
Oh man for the price of those boot , id be peeved also , thx for replying David P. I wonder if your boot failure was a one off as thats the first report I am aware of, and they are marketed as more tough than that.., unless the failures go unreported mostly on social media ? . General and roughly speaking, adventure "as a category" I guess calls call for an all round rugged but comfortable boot that is comfy for long hours (usually all day) and worn on and , but also off the saddle while allowing some movement which a MX boot would be too stiff for, and the gortex helps with the waterproofness and breathability over other designs also. I like the sound of those forma buts due to their softness and walkability , but wished they were gortex like the toucans are . The Sidi's are the only other gortex offerings AFAIK . Perhaps in your case a 2nd MX stiff pair might be the go for you on those days you plan to be going harder than usual ?

Alpinestars Tech 7 for dirt bike off-road, Toucan for road and off-road with dual sport. I’ve tried them all, astars has it right.
Thanks for your feedback *Jolly Green Biker!* Astars are great boots.
Would like links and pricing info. Also sole stiffness on each boot you review. Thanks.

Seems that GAERNE BALANCE OILED BOOT is a rebranded MSR Dual Sport boot. Identical design, stitching, materials...
I’d suggest the other way round...Gaerne is the manufacturer
What are the best boots for ankle and foot flex? Currently riding my boots but extremely uncomfortable and a pain in the ass the get through gears in
I wouldnt call the formas a "hiking" boot. comfy to walk in yes but your feet will get very hot in them if youre walking for any length of time.
That's good information. Thanks for sharing, FlyingCanuk!

All these boots are pretty similar in sole height. Not sure there is one specifically that will help with that.

Toucan is not an MX Boot. It’s a dual sport adv touring boot, think 50/50. Tech 7 is my fav MX or Dirt bike 100% offroad boot.
Sweet
Go sidi, AS are overpriced and poor performers in the boot category.
