Just wanna drop some help for you guys; 1. The crucifix only works by dropping in on the floor in the ghost's room. It should prevent it from hunting. 2. Smudge sticks give you an extra 8 seconds to run and hide if you use them during a hunt. 3. When you're being hunted turn off your flashlight, don't say anything, hide in a room or closet (not the ghost's room) and shut the door behind you. 4. If you are in possession of a torch (flashlight) and want to use something else, you can press "T" to turn it on. 5. The spirit box only works in the dark. You can still keep a flashlight on or other light sources like candles or glowsticks. 6. The voice recognition works best if you say their name at the end of a sentence, not the beginning. 7. Take a picture of any evidence that you find; it gives you extra money. This includes bones, fingerprints, writing in the book, things that get knocked over, your friend's dead body, footprints in salt, et cetera. 8. You can actually track the ghost's movement with a UV light. If it leaves fingerprints point your UV torch at the floor and you should also see footprints. 9. Turning on too many lights will trip the breaker. Only use the ones you need. 10. Not all ghosts trip the EMF, but all ghosts make the room cold so using a thermometer is my method of choice for finding the ghost room. 11. If you buy a tripod you can put a video camera on it for much easier angles. 12. Items still work when you put them down so you can use things like the EMF reader and spirit box totally hands-free. If you're feeling extra spicy you can even point a video camera at your various sweeping tools for remote monitoring. 13. If an objective calls for taking a picture of dirty sink water, you can turn on all the sinks and see if they're dirty. If they're not, the ghost can make them dirty or the ghost will sometimes even just turn on a sink by itself (making it dirty).
I do believe someone said that saying the ghosts name and a question together will cancel one of them out. Only use the name as a last resort as the name makes them mad and calling em a mother f**ker will make em even more mad than using their name.

Turn off ”push to talk” and just use the in-game voice chat because even if you are not in the same room the ghost listens to you all the time. So using VC in-game makes it a lot more intense.

You guys should use the ingame voice communication. Its 3D, so if you're close to each other you can talk normally, otherwise you have to use the walkie-talkie, which has a cool voice filter. Makes it more immersive. And be sure to turn off the local push to talk in game, so the ghosts can always hear you!

With some UV light you might be able to get footprints from it, but it doesn't happen with all ghosts. The crucifix does not protect you. When a hunt is going on (your flashlights flicker), you are done. Go hide in a closet/locker if possible, or as much out of view as you can. Close the door of course, even if you're in a regular room and not in some locker/closet. The crucifix is used to PREVENT the ghost from entering it’s hunting phase to attack you, and that's only when it's placed down in a room where the ghost is in at the time. Do note it has a fixed radius of effect so that implies people being outside its radius could still trigger the hunt, and then the ghost COULD enter its protection bubble after. The ghost reacts to what you say even if you don't use the ingame voice keys. Saying its name will anger it and increase the chances of high EMF activity in the location, which also means increasing your chances to be hunted down. I'd suggest looking up the recognizable voice commands to probe the ghost better. For example, when using the spirit box you can see "Nothing detected" when a valid voice command is recognized but the ghost won't speak or isn't in range. If it does speak and its in the same room as you or near the room, you will get a LOT of chatter from it usually, depending on the ghost type of course. Pay attention to what it says too. Sometimes it merely replies to generic questions (child, adult), sometimes it gives you clues to its location (far, near, behind), sometimes it expresses imminent aggression (death, die, leave). Non-vocal ghosts can make their presence known by interacting with the environment when asked for a sign, such as dropping something from a surface to the floor, flickering some light, filling a sink, ringing a phone, opening/closing a door and so on. Granted you need to be near or at the ghost room to get results, or at the very least near the ghost if its wandering outside of its room where it otherwise spends 80% of its time. The heartbeat implies that the ghost has manifested itself near you and is coming for you, though this doesn't necessarily happen only during a hunt. If you do get a heartbeat during a hunt, the ghost knows where you are, get away, break line of sight if possible and find a new hiding spot immediately, then crouch down and turn off your light. Keep as quiet as you can, the ghost hears anything you say without pressing voice keys. There have been cases where the heartbeat occurs without an active hunt and the ghost simply manifests itself -- unsure if this might be a bug. Don't bother for pictures during a hunt like you did in this video. If you're caught out trying to snap that shutter the ghost is most likely to snap your neck and you'll lose your mission items as a result. Unless it's already known to go after someone else and you have a good view, in which case might as well make the most out of it. When the whole house starts going mad with its lights, that also implies a hunting phase has started. You may not get your flicker on the flashlight when it happens. Hide as fast as you can and pray the ghost doesn't get you. These events are class 10 EMF so when you are in the van and see them on the reader, pray your team can get out in one piece. Strongly advised to not hide in the ghost room. In most cases you'll die regardless, but there's been exceptions -- potentially due to the ghost homing in to another teammate, i'm unclear on that. Also note that whenever a hunt is ongoing, the exits are ALWAYS locked and no one can open them. Don't expect someone on the outside to save you somehow, you can only count on yourself to hide well and survive. Sometimes you may be able to outmaneuver a ghost around a counter, or maybe outrun it long enough for it to give up on the hunt. Don't count on that possibility unless you have no other option. Some ghosts can change their speed when chasing, or outright blink near you to catch you. Don't wait near the exit doors during a hunt. You're asking for the ghost to murder you brutally. If you don't mind reading some tutorials to get better acquainted, the following page is a good starter. It also explains quite a few of the things I mentioned. Careful observation can help you figure out many of these things during regular gameplay but during your panic it's hard to focus. I looked into the crucifix and a few articles said the devs confirmed that the crucifix only works during the 5 minute prep phase. You have to find the ghosts room and drop the crucifix and it will prevent it from ever going into Hunt mode if it's in the area.

1. Fingerprints can sometimes be hidden on the light switch 2. Hide in locker/ closet or run around tables to hide unless it walks through walls 3. It helps to have a code phrase here to shout to your team when someone spots a hunt starting. If someone sees the lights start flickering rapidly, they should call something to everyone else, warning them that it’s time to get out or get hidden. Wait for the hunt to end before you make any more noise. 4. You might think you know the gist of crucifix use - wave it at the big mean spirit to get it to go away - but Phasmophobia does things a little differently. Rather than keeping it on your person, crucifixes are best tossed onto the ground when you think you’ve found the ghost room. If the ghost is nearby, this should stop it from starting a hunt, though these things are far less reliable than you’d really hope. If the hunt does kick-off, you’ll need to run, so forget about waving that thing in its face. 5. Snap photos of voodoo dolls, ouija boards, footprints, and bone DNA to get extra money on the side. Just make sure the rooms and items are lit and activated where possible before you snap a photo. 6. The simplest way to keep your sanity topped up is to spend time in well-lit spaces. However, if you turn too many lights on in the house, you’ll cause the breaker to trip and plunge the house into darkness. your welcome gamers

Just some tips to help Salt is for footsteps I think Crucifix works if you throw it on the ground Go in with a temperature gun and emf for fast detection of the ghost room Crouch running is faster than normal running
Greatest 20 dollar horror game ever, been loving it, just delt with a tricky phantom, with 3 random guys. It didn't want to set off the emf but it dissapeared twice when I took pictures of it helping us figure out it was indeed a phantom, no casualties.
This game is much better experienced with the in game chat system, if the reason you arent using it is you had trouble getting it to work (as a lot of people have) you can fix it by: -first of all making sure your default windows mic is the same as the in game mic you are using -make sure when you want to talk in game you press v(for local proximity based voice) or b(for global radio voice) you can turn off push to talk in settings however by navigating to pc settings in the options of the main menu -if you still cant hear each other then a trick is, when you are in a game, hit escape and go to options, there you will be able to turn everyones volume (of their voice) up and down, so turn everyone down to 0% hit apply and then turn everyone up again and hit apply once more -if all this fails the last thing you can do is restart your game with all these new settings and then you should be able to hear everything It adds to the experience especially with the global chat because when a hunt is on the radios go silent so if you have an alone player it makes it all the more scary as they can no longer communicate with you and dead people cant talk to the living

Hey Vladd, just a guide: when you are about to use the spirit box inside a potential ghost room, you should turn off the lights there first and then use the spirit box for asking... this was mentioned in the game training part too
You need to turn the lights off if you want to communicate with it using the Spirit Box. Also if you have a flashlight in your inventory you can activate it while holding another piece of equipment using “T”.
Crucifix is tricky. you need to find the room its in. then place the crucifix on the ground BEFORE A HUNT in the middle of the room. it will/can prevent it from hunting for up to 2 hunts, then it disappears. Holding it in the hand does nothing. having it on your belt (not in hand) or on the ground can scare certain ghosts away while hunting but its not guaranteed or 100%. how i use it: i usually have 2. find the room or area the ghost activity is in before the 5 min timer is out. place the crucifix in the room and by the door of the room. it only has about a 4-6ft radius around it. so it covers a normal sized bedroom.

1. Fingerprints can sometimes be hidden on the light switch
2. Hide in locker/ closet or run around tables to hide unless it walks through walls
3. It helps to have a code phrase here to shout to your team when someone spots a hunt starting. If someone sees the lights start flickering rapidly, they should call something to everyone else, warning them that it’s time to get out or get hidden. Wait for the hunt to end before you make any more noise.
4. You might think you know the gist of crucifix use - wave it at the big mean spirit to get it to go away - but Phasmophobia does things a little differently. Rather than keeping it on your person, crucifixes are best tossed onto the ground when you think you’ve found the ghost room. If the ghost is nearby, this should stop it from starting a hunt, though these things are far less reliable than you’d really hope. If the hunt does kick-off, you’ll need to run, so forget about waving that thing in its face.
5. Snap photos of voodoo dolls, ouija boards, footprints, and bone DNA to get extra money on the side. Just make sure the rooms and items are lit and activated where possible before you snap a photo.
6. The simplest way to keep your sanity topped up is to spend time in well-lit spaces. However, if you turn too many lights on in the house, you’ll cause the breaker to trip and plunge the house into darkness.

Salt is for footsteps I think
Crucifix works if you throw it on the ground
Go in with a temperature gun and emf for fast detection of the ghost room
Crouch running is faster than normal running

Greatest 20 dollar horror game ever, been loving it, just delt with a tricky phantom, with 3 random guys. It didn't want to set off the emf but it dissapeared twice when I took pictures of it helping us figure out it was indeed a phantom, no casualties.
I'm so happy I saw this on youtube this morning, you're videos always make my day.
This game is much better experienced with the in game chat system, if the reason you arent using it is you had trouble getting it to work (as a lot of people have) you can fix it by:
-first of all making sure your default windows mic is the same as the in game mic you are using
-make sure when you want to talk in game you press v(for local proximity based voice) or b(for global radio voice) you can turn off push to talk in settings however by navigating to pc settings in the options of the main menu
-if you still cant hear each other then a trick is, when you are in a game, hit escape and go to options, there you will be able to turn everyones volume (of their voice) up and down, so turn everyone down to 0% hit apply and then turn everyone up again and hit apply once more
-if all this fails the last thing you can do is restart your game with all these new settings and then you should be able to hear everything
It adds to the experience especially with the global chat because when a hunt is on the radios go silent so if you have an alone player it makes it all the more scary as they can no longer communicate with you and dead people cant talk to the living

Hey Vladd, just a guide: when you are about to use the spirit box inside a potential ghost room, you should turn off the lights there first and then use the spirit box for asking... this was mentioned in the game training part too

You need to turn the lights off if you want to communicate with it using the Spirit Box. Also if you have a flashlight in your inventory you can activate it while holding another piece of equipment using “T”.

Crucifix is tricky.
you need to find the room its in. then place the crucifix on the ground BEFORE A HUNT in the middle of the room. it will/can prevent it from hunting for up to 2 hunts, then it disappears.
Holding it in the hand does nothing.
having it on your belt (not in hand) or on the ground can scare certain ghosts away while hunting but its not guaranteed or 100%.
how i use it:
i usually have 2.
find the room or area the ghost activity is in before the 5 min timer is out. place the crucifix in the room and by the door of the room. it only has about a 4-6ft radius around it. so it covers a normal sized bedroom.
