Congratulation! And? What about him now? That wrote Ulli Heinke from Germany 26.4.2020 during hearing this wonderful perfect group. I am a conductor, journalist and theologist.
Brilliant musicianship! To dissect a fugue and then memorize each individual voice requires incredible concentration. Never mind playing such a work with only two hands and two feet. Of course, we owe great thanks to JS Bach himself for this incredible composition, and the thousands more that he penned.
Netflix Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities Episode 4 - The Outside brought me here. A magnificent find..enjoyed this so much 🥰. The talent on display is outstanding! 💯
The Swingle Singers soberbios como siempre, espectacular ejecucion.
I would say so. Judging from the width of the tuxedo lapels, I'd guess they're from the mid- to late-seventies. The original group, founded and led by Ward Swingle came to my campus to perform in the mid-sixties. It was Standing Room Only. I'll never forget it!
I love it.
Well thank god nobody's giving you that exchange offer, and neither do you have any capability to do so. We already have lots of stupid people in power. Thanking god that you don't matter.
OK that is a little far. Bach was the greatest, but Beethoven was revolutionary in his own right, definitely capable of measuring up to a single Bach fugue. Symphony 3 and 9 easily are greater and more significant than this fugue.
Rosie Morris, you have one heck of a talented dad. I heard Michel Legrand's sister interviewed on "St. Paul Sunday Morning" radio, and she was a member of the group. Same time as your dad?
@@vlnvlaclogbaerhpno That depends when the video was made. "A French vocal group famed for tackling all manner of classical material (Baroque, fugues, madrigals, orchestral overtures) and switching them to an a cappella swing setting, the Swingle Singers was formed in Paris during the early '60s by American expatriate Ward Swingle."
Titurel, I am sorry for my inadequate English. Walter Segal are right, and you Titurel are wrong. Many bars is missing in this performance of the fugue. 1:13, here they skip many measures, and they also skip many measures later on.
Alex Fishburn, I am sorry for my inadequate English. The original composition for the organ is about 6 minutes long, but Swingle Singers finish it all after less than 3 minutes. Hm. . . .something missing? Be sure - a lot of measures are missing!
I don't mind this version at all. I have an organ sheet so I can tell what they did to the original, yet this is so beautiful, full of joy and excitement. The thing I like most is that you can clearly see Bach's genius through this version in a different way that you don't usually see in an organ performance. The effect of the long notes performed by human voice is amazing. As if Bach knew that people someday would try to sing his instrumental pieces. (Now I remember that Helmut Walcha also mentioned that it is very important to sing each line to learn how to play Bach in keyboards.) Bach is like a gold mine that never runs out of gold and they caved quite a nice coin out of it. That's how I see this version. Of course it all depends on one's taste, and there is no right or wrong about it, but I enjoy this version very much to say the least, and have much respect for those singers.

This is the most amazing vocal arrangement of one of my favorite fugue's from Bach. Absolutely pristine!
High end of classical music. I love them all, and how 'robot man' on the right shakes out his notes... Pure fun altogether 👏😀

My Dad's second on the right!! :D
Awsome dad!
Awesome!
great
how wonderful to have such a gifted dad. Swingle Singers have been one of my most admired groups since I first heard them, as a kid in the '60s.

SUPER GENIALES....Y MAS CON ESTA OBRA DE FUGA BACHIANA.
Bach not only transcends instruments but genres also - - classical , romantic , jazz
Absolumente
Amazing how a bach fugue transcends all musical genres,,,,
Wow ❤ Bach would have loved it !
Johann Sebastian would certainly enjoy this rendition !
There are so few videos of them, this is precious and I love it.

Fantastic!!!!!
I'm not sure which It is but one of the sopranos has the sweetest voice I can remember hearing ever!
Thanks for sharing :-)

This version is better than the CD version and modern new swingle singers version!
It's great.
Bring me the complete works of Beethoven, I won't exchange them with this 3 minute piece. Thanking God that Bach existed.

Vi adoro !!!
Absolute incredibile!
This is perfect.
Not perfect. 1' 30'' one of the sopranos was out of tune on note G. Quite disturbing.
But anyway, it was a great performance.
Awesome
Fantastici!
Una parola, sublime
Not sure about the pitch of the sopranos but evenso, brilliant impact and testament to their memories - concert pianists?
I wonder if it ever cross any of these fine peoples’ minds that sum day a kid would be smoking weed to this song

Great work, but the cut made at around 1:11 took off my favorite part ;-;
They just wiped out the etire recording industry of the 20th century.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Do they do the background music for glee? I REALLY WANT TO FIND THAT ONE SONG that plays in the background a lot, the really fast frantic one...
The background music the Swingles sing in Glee is Flight of the Bumblebee.

Oh all of them..are great...
Crash Twinsanity memories
It's jazz with very little change - The Swingle Singers change not a note. Just give it a swing.

this is rad.
This sounds beautiful. Please could someone tell me what this type of music is called? Many thanks in advance :o)

Where can find score of this?
Look up any scores with this title in the organ works of Bach. There are plenty around.

most of these fine singers look way too young to be from the original swingle singers group, so is this a newly reformed version???!!!
The original group was French. After it disbanded, Ward Swingle reconstituted the group in London, and it's been going ever since.
Anyone here after Pennyworth season 2?
I like the brunette in the midddle...

The perfomance is about fifty years old. It is a pity they cut so much of the fugue. the fugue as performed on the organ is over six minutes long.
W.
what are you talking about??? None of the Fugue is cut here. The Fantasia is not sung but the Fugue is here entirely as described.

Walter, I suspect that the limit of audience attention is a little under three minutes. Most popular songs last about that long as well.
@@Titurel No !

I can't help it, but I find this "Jazz" version very annoying. Pipe organ sounds so much better.
Keskivertomies I agree, but it's a perfectly legitimate and valid interpretation

JS Bach never indicated how his music should be played, or at what tempo. That was a hallmark of his genius.
