I’ve never liked filmmaker mode right from the first time I tried it out. My thoughts were ‘why would anyone want to watch on this setting?’ For the Same reasons you’ve mentioned here. Looking forward to applying your settings when I get it this week. Any ETA on when you’ll be dropping them for members?
FMM looks like crap compared to your settings. I honestly dont think I would have kept my S90C if it was strictly locked on FMM. On samsungs qdoleds the difference between true colours and dull fmm image is even more drastic. Especially on anime is where you will see worlds of difference
Question, I’ve always loved the way film looks when you go to a good quality movie theater, and I’ve also always hated the way “dynamic mode” looks on TV’s, so my question is, with what you are talking about using “movie” mode & not “filmmaker” mode, do you feel like this looks more “movie theater like” and more “film accurate”? I grew up being told for years, “D6500 kelvin” “this what the director wants you to see…” etc… so are your settings still film accurate or what? I’m just trying to get a better understanding… thanks so much!
It truly amazes me that I ever managed to watch TV without your settings! As I’ve said 1000 times over by now thank you so much for everything that you do! I’m really hoping to pick one of these up and I want to upgrade my sound bar too because I only have a two channel one so even simulated Dolby Atmos I’m sure will sound better. I don’t have the space in my bedroom for proper surround sound though unfortunately. I was wondering if you have any suggestions? This would be my first personal TV even dating back to standard definition. That’s not an LG it just happened to work out that way I’m open to any of the best suggestions. For example, I also wasn’t sure if there’s any difference between using the optical port or HDMI ERC in terms of the sound quality? And if I should use HDMI, I would probably have to get a splitter because that would mean 5 devices would be hooked up to the TV so do you have any suggestions there? I use standalone streamers for obvious reasons. In my case ,an Apple TV 4K and a fire TV stick 4K max for one app in particular that I can’t get in 4K quality on the Apple TV 4K, PS5, and a standalone 4K blu-ray player because I don’t like wearing down my console from the disc drive spinning all the time.
I honestly want to believe you but where are the settings so I can try it out? Maybe I missed another video? I think I have significantly improved the image on my TV since its been out of the box but would be cool to see if your settings are any different.
The thing about this is that this is what the demon slayer creators want their content to look like. There's a specific ambience that the creators thirve for and lot of that is having a duller look. An important example is games such as Silent Hill. They have a grayer tone for a reason.
With your help I was able to tweak Standard mode (in particular set Peak Brightness to Medium, and adjusted Brightness/Contrast to taste) and the result is a very poppy and satisfying picture image.
@Quantum_TV bruh, when you go to the cinema what kind of picture you see? That's right, the "dead yellowish picture" that's what the director wanned you to see. Can't deny that common.
My s90d audio volume is getting auto increased based on scenes playing . This is when intelligent mode is on. What is the setting to disable sound auto increaee in intelligent mode ?
What is it about filmmaker mode that isnt allowing you to reproduce the same settings? Does it restrict certain options that movie mode doesnt? Genuine question.
... It's a snowy scene though? You ever go outside and see what colors look like with an overcast sky? Your settings turn it into a cheap oversaturated image and go directly against the authored colors of that scene. Max saturation in every scene does not equal a better image.. You completely lose the art direction that way
So, what are the settings for the movie mode you have set up? It isn't just out of the box movie mode. You had to have done some expert settings for it.
Maybe Samsung has listened to views like this. I just got a new 55" S90D, and Filmmaker mode definitely brightens and enhances colors vs all other modes except Dynamic. Doing as done in this video: toggling between Movie and Filmmaker modes, the result is opposite of what's depicted - though not as dramatically different, Filmmaker mode has brighter deeper colors. And that's with minimal tweaking of other settings. So something is definitely different with the latest S90D (2024).
I have the same settings in standard, movie and fmm and standard is still the brightess. Yes every settings is the same i checked the energy saving and display care settings
... i think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of what filmmaker mode is and what it is used for, when movies are filmed and rendered outside sunlight gives off an inherently yellow tinge due to blue light being refracted in our atmosphere, as such the filmmaker mode "white" is slightly yellow yet still very much so white, known as 6500k which is a type of white light meant to mimic daylight. Knowing this, filmmaker mode was made to help calibrate your tv as close to the 6500k as well as turning off artificial after-effects applied by tvs to display films as close to what the creator intended. Now why am I saying this? Well you are turning filmmaker mode on, on an anime.
Filmmaker Mode is the directors intent mode. It seems you have the biggest fundamental lack of understanding in what it's used for. Rather than give some insufferable d65w pitch, I'll simply say go to their website. They lay out what it is clearly.
Thanks for yor video, wish i can keep my custom settings especially while watching amazon it turns on filmmaker settings and I couldn't manage how to change it?
Does anyone know what mode gives you 24p on Blu-ray? I have movie mode set but it doesn’t say 24p is enabled on it. Do I have to put it on a different setting to get this? Thanks.
The last comparison with Millie shows exactly what's wrong with your 'calibrations' - crushed shadow details. For anime that might not matter as much, but guess what, anime is a niche genre. Acting like your settings are better for regular movie content is ignorant. You're losing a ton of detail.
Actually PLAY a UA-cam video of your face on this TV. I guarantee you that FILMMAKER MODE is the closest representation of how you intended it to look-not your custom settings. Make a UA-cam video of this. The still images you've put on this TV have been desaturated by you to make FILMMAKER MODE look bad.
Your settings bring a new dimension to the image. Conceptually accurate or not I prefer your settings.

I would go for the bose 900 or sony A7000 or higher as far as soundbars go.
Sony is really good about giving 2 extra hdmi ports on your soundbar, which much help eliminate the need for an avr or splitter.
@@Quantum_TV Ok thanks bud, appreciate you!
So sick of these old color standards limiting these tvs and the content. Same goes for how badly hdr is handled to.

Thank quantum, awesome video as always. I never liked filmmaking mode. It looks way too washed out.
I'm not a fan of the warm color, just makes at least my TV look too yellowish. I change mine to standard.
