    Bravo, bravo, bravo enjoy the togetherness and cultural differences. STOP hating one another, these cultures belong to all of us, whosoever wishes to capitalise and leave the other out commits lack of tolerance. Life is too precious and short to hate one another.

    Canim Cihan guclu...bu muzik 'sizin' degil, bu muzik bizim...this 'Greek boy' is one of the greatest lyra- (=kemence-)players of our time, and he is PONTIAN GREEK. The lyra is an ancient Greek instrument that has been developed in the Black Sea region by the Greek people that have lived there from +/- 8th century BC. Listen to what the guy says at approx. 3.30: the region that the instrument comes from, from PONTOS.

    this instrument has 3000 years history my friend. people of karadeniz play this instrument many years before cristians, muslims etc. think about it and read some history my friend.
    i love turkish musik, i like turkey people, but the history its history, i am sorry...

    That's Great. But i can not remember that lyra or Kemence a part is of culture from the kurdish people? Kemence or Lyra is a culture from greek or people from Black Sea (Turkey)

  • @zervasfan
    @zervasfan 16 років тому

    Just to add some things here for the player. Matthaios was the first globally to get a PhD degree dedicated to the instrument used here, the pontic lyra.

    This means 'sea' in Greek. So unless what the turkish government and army tried to let the turkish people believe, this is a greek instrument...and a greek player...a very talented one.

  • @Yanko14

    lyra kemence is from the black sea also PONTOS and in pontos the lived turkish people to, so the lyra kemence played off pontians and turkish peoples

    when you say that, you clearly are forgetting that the ONLY region where this instrument is common in turkey is the eastern black sea region, which happens to be the "pontus" area. Greeks and Turks always have discussions about what belongs to which culture, but this instrument should be credited to Greeks, unlike baklava or Karagöz or Turkish (not Greek) coffee.

    • @Hardie_Boi
      @Hardie_Boi 7 років тому

      i thought that turkish coffee was actually arabic?what about baklawa or bashturma?i think arabs claim them too...
