Two things: 1) I've been studying Spanish for 30 years, including college, and I live in a majority Spanish as a first language area and you both speak it better than me. 2) It is much easier for me to understand an indonesian - japanese conversation in Spanish than to understand any conversation between native Spanish speakers.

There are some big differences, not only in the vocabulary but also in the word pronunciation and the accent.

Hello Kazu, since you read all comments on your channel, please let me express my honest feelings about this video and the world of language learning these days: I can feel that Sonny is patronising you so strongly, but only because he can speak Spanish and French quite decently, maybe with a slightly better accent?! This is completely groundless and undesirable between two language lovers. Moreover, I didn't think that the conversation between both of you was very healthy either, as it mainly revolves around levels and time of learning, two things that do not really mean anything special. Some people might prove quite proficient at one language after only one year, but others take more time to learn depending on the language and their condition. I can relate to this with the Thai language in which I could read a book after 6 months of learning; nevertheless after the same amount of time spent learning Vietnamese, I am still unable to understand a story fully written in Vietnamese or speak that language well. The same reaction applies for Chinese, Korean, and Japanese; 9 years ago, I spent only three years learning Japanese before being able to express myself almost as freely as my native language, French; on the other hand it took me more than 6 years for the two others to attain such freedom of speech and writing. Last fact with English: I took 15 years to really understand this language well, when nowadays people do not even bother to "learn English" because it is ubiquitous. Frustrating but legitimate. This phenomenon seems to be a normal language lottery which occurs for every idiom we learn, but for some unknown reasons to me yet. Natural advantages and disadvantages seem however to be well distributed, which render this lottery rather fair: some will learn this or that language quickly and others not and vice versa. My comment includes all the respect that I feel to see someone as young as you already so much opened to the world, learning languages such as Arabic or Russian which are famous for being 'hard to learn'. When I was as young as you (I am 26 now) I was for sure not that open-minded, and I would never have thought of learning even a single word of Arabic. Since your audience seem quite young, I thus wish that you can keep on spreading positive vibes about the sheer fun of learning languages as you do, always smiling and enjoying everything, but not the number or the level of these languages, which are two unimportant and oft-times meaningless matters. :)
