Thanks for the video! I definitely needed a visual for a lot of these changes. Just one small correction-it actually was possible in the previous patch to hit standing opponents with OD air legs. I found this out after messing around with Falling Crane. Basically, after landing a DR Falling Crane on punish counter, you're actually plus enough to combo into OD instant air legs. It's probably the stupidest combo ever, but it's pretty good for trolling purposes + it's fun knowing I'm the only Chun on the planet who does it, lmao
Sadly there's no buff I wished for, extended range on the second half of Lvl2 super, sometimes when you try to punish fireballs with that, first couple of hits hit, and other whiff.
The day before the patch dropped, i finally landed her st. Hk aa dr into lvl 3 combo in a match and they nerf it the next day. Well at least st. Hp is useful again.
I used to do a lot of HK combos so I gotta reprogram myself lol. 5500-6000 down to 3500-4000 is still pretty rough. I still feel the damage scaling pretty hard, but the update is forcing me to think new, and this vid gave me a little more hope so there we go.
Yea muscle memory can be a real problem after nerfs to certain routes, but it definitely doesn't affect much of her optimal stuff, as it's scaled relatively hard when you use them anyway.
I'm pretty sure you can't press anything/nothing works if you get perfect parried. That's sort of why it's a very strong mechanic. Allowing her to press afterwards would make her the only character to have a OS(option select) for perfect parries.
Idk if the hitbox viewer mod is outdated due to the patch or not, but the disjoint it shows for 5HP is kinda insane. The hurtbox essentially stops at her head/sleeve.
Hey, I've been trying to start playing this game online. Do you have any tips for beginners chun li? How a beginner should approach learning her in this game?
I have a few tutorials for chun li tech on my channel. If it's basic stuff that you need, there is a dedicated tutorial section within the game for each character that does a pretty good job at explaining the basics. I personally would start with learning how to do basic combos with her charge moves and Anti Airing. I might make a video on these topics in the close future.
Can you please do a step by step tutorial on how to use Chun-li in classic I've been having a hard time learning how to connect the stance into a combo
I have a few tutorials on chun already, they still pretty much work in season 2. Execution is something you just have to practice no one can help you with that one. I would suggest start with a leverless controller/keyboard because it's much easier for chun because she's partially a charge character.
@@GamingFreak-yj4mxI’ve used a ps4/ps5 controller this whole time and it’s worked fine. Tho I will recommend if you can afford it to invest in a hitbox
I learn combos by doing each move individually several times, repeat this, adding moves 1 by one until I can do the full combo. Do them slow make sure you can consistently do each part of the combo individually before you put them all together and gradually pick up speed until it connects (set practice dummy to block after hit). While waiting to play in ranked be in training practicing. If a combo is 4 moves. I make sure 1 connects then 12 then 123 etc. I use an Xbox controller.
up forward into down mk, it's much easier if you play on a keyboard/ leverless controller since you can hover over all the directional inputs at the same time + charge characters are much easier to play in general on leverless/keyboard.
@@lordronn472 idk if you can rebind directional inputs on ps5, but you could technically emulate a leverless experience. instead of using the up direction just set it to L1 or L2. That way you could still use a controller but have the adventages of a leverless.
Chuns buttons are nearly useless though, the entire cast pretty much outrages her normals, and the one decent poke is 5HP, it unfortunately doesn't combo and is too slow on both startup and recovery to mean anything. She loses neutral to almost the entire cast.
So Stupid that they got rid of her walk speed it was fine. The CA2 nerf was also a dumb one. If they wanted to change something change the overhead water lotus fist to start up faster as well as lotus fist stance. Stand HP is great and ex air lightning legs is a plus. The standing light punch was also stupid move. Strongest woman in the world more like let’s take everything that made her great and make her weak. She deserves more respect. As a chun player disappointed with the nerfs. It’s just give and take ATP. But Manon gets everything right capcom 🙄🙄🙄
Chun Li was considered a really good character in Season 1 and Manon was considered really bad once people stopped whining and learned the match up. Even with Manon buffs and Chun Li nerfs Manon is still likely a noticeable worse character
Yea it's one of the worst versions of this normal, but I'm pretty sure no human can react to a move that starts in 13 frames, so that DI theory flies out of the window. And if they are trying to guess with DI I'm pretty sure they are taking a way bigger risk. You can just randomly neutral jump and kill them for trying to DI your HP. My only real problem with this normal is that the start up is too slow for it to work as a whiff punish tool. So it's kind of stuck as hit confirm if you get a counterhit into combo damage.
Even though your comment sounds like response bait I have to disagree with you. Chun is a all round character with possibly 1 or 2 bad match ups only. There is no way she's not top 10.
@king_lvr No, it's not bait. She never won a major tourney from the beginning. A lot of characters that she malls over now has a lot of buffs and bit of a challenge. Her scaling should have been -10, not -20. Need to revert some of the hurt box in St. jab, cr mk., hazanshu should have bigger hitbox or 1 frame earlier start before landing to prevent cr short derb.
You must have not played chun in any other fighting game then 6. It is by far the worst iteration of the move and it's not even close. Especially the pre patched st.hp
Hard Punch, my beloved

That does happen way too often tbh.
wow, might start raw drive rush st hp now instead of cr mk
Don't it's too slow, you can't use it for anything

Holup.... I thought she was nerfed to the ground but... she's actually better than season 1 ?
Dayum gotta hit the lab
Nah, she wasn't nerfed that bad. She's still very good and top tier, just got a slaps of nerfs with a really good buff
hell no shes not better than season 1
Reddit removed her from top tier when the changes happened sooo 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks for the breakdown!
That cammy setup is actually nasty thanks for the tip!
I'm glad you watched to the end.👍
when someone perfect parry your stomps you couldnt do anything after in the air. I guess now you can even if its perfect parried.

Man give a shot to ⬇️ HP>DR>St. HP>serenity stream>attack of your choice.
She seems like she’s back to how she was on the last season of SF5 lol 😂
Thank fucking God that game is dead. Worst street fighter ever created. Id rather play capcom fighting and play the Dino.
Thank you for this great review of the Chun changes! A+ nerf downplay too ;)
Idk if the hitbox viewer mod is outdated due to the patch or not, but the disjoint it shows for 5HP is kinda insane. The hurtbox essentially stops at her head/sleeve.
If that's true then it might be really good and hard to whiff punish when spaced out.

yea my bad😅, I've been in the RPG/single player games spiral for the last 2 months. Doing some Lidia stuff and SF stuff very soon.
@@king_lvr awesome! No rush, was just wondering if stuff was still in the pipeline!
Thinking of playing modern Chun this is season
10:23 for me later.
Had its uses but I think other buttons were more worth it.

The HK damage nerf is huge. That's my go to big damage starter and anti air. RIP Chun
nerfing chun while leaving ken untouched, nice
something off about her. I think her torso is too long. SFV made her look better.
Btw how do you do the instant stomp kick after the EX SBK
