What a mess. Whole match was a scramble from the get go. The maps, while very cool and novel, was was too small.
Graphics and music/sounds are the best things about this.
This is a wait for sale for me
I tried coming back again and again. It always leaves a bitter taste in your mouth and is more frustratingly dull than a successor to Homeworld.
you mentioned wanting to know what weapons each ship has. If you select a single ship, in the unit info window in the lower left, hover over the red box and it will tell you how many weapons it has and what they are. There's a short description of what they are good against, but no numbers or stats to compare different weapons.
i dont know if they sad anything but it would for sure be awesome if the game would work with mods like the old game wuld be awesome if the star wars mod or trek mod returned
they are using a fundamentally different game engine, so not even vaguely possible
They are wanting to add mods support day one.
@@TheEngineeringTacticianSure. The old mods can't be poured over, but that doesn't mean that new ones can't be made.
@@CharaSomtaaw of course, but this guy was saying he wanted HW:RM mods to be ported over. I fully get HW3 will have mod support

I would certainly like some actual Aliens. And if not that the Faction from the Garden of Khadesh from Homeworld 1.

God imagine the maps were bigger with plethoras of open space with regions like the ice shelf somewhere on the map.
- and resources were more scarce
- and construction was the 2nd game
- and combat was like the 2nd game
- and movement was like the 2nd game
- and this game was mostly just the 2nd game with better graphics
i love how the top of the battlecruisers looks like the homeworld 2 battlecruisers but then you look at the underside and it has some chunk to it

Gotta say, I was so excited for this game... but as I was ready to buy it, i saw the mixed review score. Decided to check it out and found alot of issue with the EULA. They essentially give themselves the authority to collect all of your data... home address, name, other personal identifiers, IP and MAC address, credit card/payment and background monitoring... and do just about whatever they want with it... Now I know this is not an unusual occurrence in this day and age, but this coupled with the blatant threat levied in the EULA of them revoking your game access for what they seem to list as "reasons" and giving no recourse (depending on where you live) isnt something I can get behind.... Sad to say that I'll be avoiding it and will have to make due watching youtubers play it I guess, cause its not gonna change

Frankly never paid more than £25 for a game (that was actually HW remastered at launch), so I've got a bit of a wait ahead of me. Would love to watch a full Shack playthrough.

there is no time to even get a strategy going, the com was on top of your resource spawn within a minute
Maybe the third faction will be taidani loyalists who are still loyal to the mad emperor even after his death
I think the Kalen pirates are suppose to be a cultural mix of Taiidan and Turanic Raiders
Would be nice to see the return of the Vaygr and that Taiidan.
Roadmap mentions they will add three new factions, so I'm hopping for the Taidani republic or remnants
I would think the Taidani Republic would be more likely to appear. After all the loyalists have been taking nothing but Ls for a while. Add in the century of dominance from the Hiigaran empire I doubt much is left of the loyalists.
My guess Is the 3rd faction will ether be the Taiidan or Vagyr
Hey Shack!!! A thought popped into my mind while watching a recorded stream for Homeworld 3. Maybe at some point when you've finished your UA-cam campaign of Homewold 3, you could make a playlist including all Homeworld games in chronological order.
Yo, it would be pretty cool to see you check out another space RTS called Nebulous Fleet Command. It's quickly become my favorite strategy game of all time, although just a warning it is multiplayer focused as opposed to single player. I'd recommend you grab a buddy who's familiar with the game if you do decide to try it as there's a lot to learn. I promise though it's worth it, no other game can compete once it clicks.
I think the key point is to always be building ships. At the start you should have just queued up like 50 interceptors and recons and at some point you were so focused on frigates that you had no fighter class or corvette ships at all.
I wonder what the Complex equivalent will be in this sequel.
Physical barriers are something I always wanted utilized in homeworld.
id love to see Turanic raiders return maybe using modifed old ships together with more modern ships mixed together that would be fun to see and play
I know how that growling feels. Was playing Deserts of Kharak. Got to...mission 5. Easiest difficulty. All research and Artifacts I could have had at that point (as far as I know). Nothing went to plan. Went bankrupt. Had to try and fight with all my utility vehicles and the main carrier. Decided to just rage quit and come back when I'm not angry. Probably not gonna use the persistent forces feature. I do _not_ know what I'm doing.

I hope they add more giant ships, like the big ones in the tutorial mission background, the Titan is my favorite ship in the game at the moment, something about massive ships blasting massive ships with smaller ships amidst massive space battles, just sounds cool

I want larger maps, and give us more variety. I would even like a HW1 or HW2 style map without the mega structures, or at least with more empty space. This battle was way too fast.

No, you can even play skirmish and war games offline

oh my god, the exploding of big ships, used to be the best part of homeworld, and then you don['t show it at the end... DOH homer simpson ! LOL.
I am enjoying this game, but I am mostly waiting for the halo mods
i would love for them to bring back the vaygr i loved there ships in HW2 the vaygr Destroyer was my fav ship in the game

my computer is too outdated to support this game, so this video is perfect for me.
Have a i5-3600 series, 10 gens behind, and a gts1080. It's running fine for me.
Have a i7 7k and 1060 with 16gb ram and I am running the game really well on medium settings

That battlecruiser spawning after the construction bay opens up kind of destroys immersion...why did they program it like this? Homeworld 1s launch sequence was better.
The bigger ships seem to have animation trouble across the board - turrets not tracking etc..
As long as this is not tied to SBI though.....

The torpedo frigate is still a thing. See the build menu. The equivalent to the pulsar gunship should be the railgun corvette.
@@KajiTetsushi well I haven’t see anyone build the torpedo frigate yet and railgun corvette is nothing like hw2 pulsar corvette also I just realize that there’s no more modules build / destruction anymore 😤
Looks nice but yea i'm not paying $100 for a game like this, i'll beat the campaign and probably never play it again like Homeworld 2.
i think this map too smell for 4 players it seems more for 2 and i know it says 2 - 4 but still
very very fun game, heres a tip for war games....use swarm tactics, queue like 50+ inters, recon, some plasma corvettes and make sure youre using formations...best one for swarm is the circle, youll need to be fast btw or get swarmed by destroyers which are nigh impossible to deal with
im only lvl 10 also after 100 or so matches only getting 1k xp each time cause i keep failing
First. Also, Homeworld 3 lookin' fine, though. Wish I had the cash to buy it. (Or the rig to run it)
Additional factions are likely gonna be derivatives of Incarnate and Hiigaran fleets with specific bonuses like some "factions" in command and conquer. lol, no way they add unique factions with the mess this game is compared to its predecessors. Let alone the fact there is NO campaign room for real aliens.

It's only the way of modern gaming because players are putting up with it. There are plenty of (much better) games out there when you stop putting up with junk.
Even once players start waking up, it will take the AAA industry a long time to change, because the higher ups would LOVE to abuse planned obsolescence to make more (short term) profits.
@@r3dp9 I'm hoping the recent drama with Helldivers has made people realise they can actually say no, even if Sony has pulled a fast one in that case. Still tanked their stocks by 10%.
I see far too much grumbling about things like the Halo Infinite microtransactions, but the same people still paying hundreds of $$$ into that system.
I really dislike how few resources there are on the maps. And how small they are. This is also the only actually interesting map and even then it's way too small.
Capital ships are too small in HW3 compared to the huge battlecruiser and destroyer in HW2, meh.
the capital ships in HW2 are made in the shipyard, this is harkened back towards HW1 scale capitals with the destroyer and heavy cruiser directly out of the mothership (thus cant make battlecruisers since no shipyard). Though I would like to see the heavy cruiser in hw3 better armed than it is currently.
unfortunately was not at all impressed by the release. the campaign was mid and the writing of it was heinous. the cinematics looked weird and clunky and the multiplayer only has two factions as of right now. i even had issues with ui scaling. the only things that i was interested in was the improved graphics and the new cover system. super disappointed since im a huge HW fan and i've been looking forward to the title for six or seven years, or however long it has been since they announced development. i dont know if anyone else feels the same way but it feels like a fourth-rate RTS wearing homeworld's skin.
I actually agree in part with this. Huge HW fan and there is a lot of little things this game misses out on tbh. The camera control feels clunky, zoom out is weird. And you can't even lock onto missiles with the camera anymore. I know small things.
But it feels less like a big open space RTS now and more an E sports thing ...
Gameplay is also super fast paced too.
This engine with Homeworld 2. Yeah. I'd take that.
Also I'm not a huge fan of individual units. I liked building a squadron in one go.

I do want to play this, but I am pretty sure it will be high seas for this one after seeing the amount of coming paid DLCs. I can barely make myself chuck money and TW3, I don't need another money sink.

Of all the sins HW3 commits, having your single player skirmish session stopping due to loss of connection to gearboxes servers is an unforgivable design choice. I'm glad I didn't pre-order or day 1 purchase this.
It seem to be a crappy rts wearing a homeworld skin suit. Tragic.
Be nice if the third faction was in the campaign ... and the campaign was longer. And the ending was different. And the writing. Ugh
$60 for single player game is too much imo if it was fully fledged multiplayer I might consider it

There are plenty of single player games worth 60$... but they are usually much cheaper than that. Often in the 20$ range. Some of the best ones, like Cataclysm Bright Nights, are completely free.

I have yet to have a performance issue on max graphics with a relatively old PC, have yet to dip under 110 fps even in big 3v3 fights.
The game does have directional armor, appearing to be both rear and frontal armor arcs.
Ballistics are simulated for rockets, missiles, large guns, and even the smaller ciwis guns. (though in terms of balance, the ranging of all weapons is incredibly strange)
The pathfinding could use work you are correct particularly when in formation around megastructures, and especially in tunnels, though given that HW1 and HW2 lacked any major terrain features I put this as a net neutral.
Brain dead plot is spot on, though I did find the campaign gameplay enjoyable.
EULA is also a big concern.
