Michael's carries these Artists' Loft Paint-by-numbers kits of a bunch of Van Gogh paintings. I've done 4 out of 5 I think, making a little collection. It's perfect because it gives you the feeling of painting but with zero brain power lol
Try looking through gardening catalogs for new flower varieties. As a gardener, I find tons of inspiration that way. Also, now that we are getting into spring, take a field trip to a botanical garden, or a florist shop.
Sunflowers and Daisy are my favorite flowers. I call them happy flowers. Love the video Emma.
I just finished listening to the audiobook “Vincent and Theo.” Sunflowers were Van Gogh’s favorite flower. Thank you for sharing your watercolor process.
Soooo cheerful. Just prop it up and you will smile every time you spy it.
One more comment. This video is giving me the courage to just let go and have fun! Isn’t that what it’s all about? Fun, joy, fulfillment and confidence 😊
Lovely, I might try this with one of his wobbly landscapes!
Neocolor II are my favorite media for studies because they make a very convincing "oil paint" texture, but are completely mess-free. Just did a series of tiny moody Monet studies a few weeks ago with them, and I had a blast.
I'm in a similar funk right now, and I hope we'll both be over it soon 🌹
I too am stuck. It’s been almost a month now and I blame the weather but today was beautiful and I still did nothing 😟Just watching you and listening to you helped. Maybe tomorrow???
This was so fun! I love the Caran D' Ache crayons. I bought a small set and wish I would have bought the big one. I hope you will do more lessons using them. Thank you so much Emma Jane for sharing your wonderful talent with us.
Very good likeness. Love when artists take on a challenge like this. You are an inspiring artist.
You did an amazing job recreating this sunflower piece Emma! I really enjoyed it!🥰
This was so cool! I’m a Van Gogh fan & would love to see you do something similar with his still life of white roses in green vase & green background; as well as his iris still life in white jug on green table/surface… 💚🤍💜
Thank you that turned out lovely , I have been in a rut myself , so thank you again for all your tips and tutorials . You do beautiful work !
Love this! Thank you for this video…….great ideas for finding different inspiration. And loved the w.c. Crayons……..will definitely try them out.
Thanks Emma, I love Van Gogh, my favorite.
Thanks Emma! I do love being inspired to do a copy of famous artists work. You can learn so much doing this. I do love Van Gogh. And Monet. And the thing I love about them was they did the same thing over and over and over again. We always think that we have to look for something new when we could just concentrate on one thing and see it in a different way each time we painted. Thank you for always inspiring us.
This a great picture Emma thank you for sharing with us ,loved the crayons xx
What impressed me the most about this video is how your mood completely changed Emma. You started a bit on the gloomy side but at the end you were ready to take another one on. Good for you Emma, the crayons seem to do it for you!!.❤
I did it years ago when I was teaching my kindergarten Art class in French and I used flowers catalogs where my class would cut out their flowers and we watercolored the background and the vase a la Van Gogh
Dude- perfect timing… I literally just decided to search UA-cam for Van Gogh tutorials this morning! 🤩 that’s just freaky! ❤❤❤
so pretty and fun!
That turned out so well. I think you could definitely sell it! Glad to hear that you are feeling more inspired!
So fun great job. I’m inspired.❤️
fwiw I’d happily watch you recreate the masters in watercolour for hours. I love how this turned out! I’d love to see you take on the Impressionists.
wow, this looks so beautiful, great idea!
Very very inspiring! Fantastic recreation. Thank you!
That actually turned out really, really well, Emma! I love it!
Your inspiration has inspired me!! I'm off to look at famous paintings right now to see if there's any i maybe able to paint a 'version of' in watercolour.
Thank you so much for this video!
Love, Mel in Devon, UK 🍰🌻
Monet’s water lilies would be fun in watercolors
That was fun! Thanks for another great idea. I need to get a set of those crayons soon!
Oh wow I am really enjoying how your version of Van Gogh’s 12 Sunflowers 🌻 looks, especially with the watercolor crayons textured background. You have managed to get some wonderful textures & the colors of the sunflowers very much like his. I am definitely inspired by both your version & his painting to give this a try. Thanks for sharing this wonderful fun video! Hope you’re are over your art block soon 💕🥰🌻🌻🎨
That was really fun to watch and now I am inspired to try those crayons.. I love that Van Gogh painting too.
Stunning!!! Thanks for sharing your expertise!!
Looks like you're having so much fun with this! That's what inspires me. ( love your pep talks!) ❤️
Thank you Emma! I loved it and very inspired now!! 😊
Very Cool Emma!
This was great!
That just makes me smile!!!
This is so lovely! I have an idea……use your gouache and paint something using Maude Lewis’ work for inspiration. Not long ago, I saw another artist on UA-cam use Lisa Solomon’s Colour Meditation Deck prompts to create an interesting abstract creation….another idea. Oooooooh….use some of your old practice works to create a collage or something…..we all have loads of practice stuff kicking around that we don’t really like, but can’t seem to part with….show us how to chop them up!
I also use Van Gogh for inspiration.
I'm a huge Van Gogh fan and this was fun to do. Maybe next one should be Money or Renoir. They might ;end themselves to watercolor because their art is blurrier and not so detailed.
Try Van Gough’s Irises
I bought your brushes and I love it so much and I hope u making same brush number 0
Bonjour, je voudrais savoir comment faire pour vous comprendre, je ne parle pas anglais 😞 pourriez-vous faire le nécessaire pour qu’il y ai des sous-titres en français car je voudrais bien m’abonner !! Merci
Did you see the painting a guy did reimagining Starry Night as a Waffle House?
I haven’t
This looks fantastic. I’m inspired to give this technique a try 🫶🏾
