Great video Chris. I've been waiting for eBay to do something like this for months... it was only a matter of time before they took action. I think the next thing they need to sort out is the feedback system, as Vinted automatically leave positive feedback if the buyer leaves none - which I think is a brilliant model. I've sold more on my eBay biz account than on vinted, but my feedback score on vinted is higher 🤔
Absolutely loved this announcement as I pay between 3-6k per month in fees on clothing sales. I really don't see how they go back after this, theyre basically giving vinted pro and depop 3 months to make changes and if they bring the fees back in for clothing sellers they will all jump ship after noticing just how much of a hit it is for businesses. We sell about 1000 items per month so the switch would be a pain but id do it for an extra 50k a year.
An advantage for business sellers would be more of a restriction on private sellers in terms of listings. Make it 30 items a month. That is more than enough for a casual seller. Then it would be free for very low use and paid for by high volume sellers.
Unless ebay can do something more permanent for all business sellers this appears to be a gimmick to appease the growing disgruntled amoung us, I personally don't sell clothes so it doesn't have any benefit to me. I'd personally like to see ebay apply a rule where business resellers don't add the new buyer fee that is coming early next year, this would make it more attractive to buy from business sellers and then we can compete more fairly with private sellers.
I don’t think it’s a gimmick, I think it’s a test. A few months ago private sellers were given the same offer and now it’s been expanded. I think we are gonna see big changes in the new year.
Just had a conversation with eBay and it’s not all business sellers just some selected sellers and I haven’t been included because up till now I have not sold used clothing it’s a shame as I have quite a bit so Vinted win for me at the moment.
That’s a shame, maybe if you get some listed on eBay you might get the offer. I’ve seen a few sellers who don’t sell clothing not get the offer. I would list some stuff and then get onto eBay for business Facebook page and see if they can offer it you.
Maybe they be looking at the data and come the new year bring in a buyers fee for all items and just scrap the FVF all together, They of course could increase the shop subscriptions by 25% or so to get some money back from us.
Since hearing about the eBay no fees announcement its prompted me to start using eBay again. I’ve listed a couple of items and on the flip side I’ve spent £80 on the platform in the last week.
Great news. The wallet system is like how it used to be with paypal. Its ebay spending money. Do you know if already listed clothing will sell fee free or is it just newly listed ?
It’s 300 listings each month it’s not 300 listings full stop, what that means is it gets reset every month. I think EBay are going to give business sellers the same because they are going to work on the same way that Vinted are doing.
@@CarBoot_Chris ok sorry I am a business seller it great about the clothes for us my next door neighbour has a private account but I don’t care about they’re doing because we sell different stuff people have got to stop worrying about other people just worry about your self
Still not as good an offer as Vinted Pro you can only sell for free in clothing if "used"... Where as Vinted are offering it in... Women’s, men’s, and children’s clothing, footwear, and accessories, Tech accessories (e.g. headphones, smart watches, phone cases), Homeware (e.g. textiles, tableware, home accessories, seasonal & party decorations), Entertainment goods (e.g. books, video game consoles and games, board games and puzzles, music, and video items), and Pet care items (e.g. pets’ clothing, accessories, bedding, and toys). AND its not limited till 31st Decemeber. Ebay need to step up or they wont be able to compete with Vinted. Ebay daily unique account visits 18 million, Vinted have 16 million. Ebay have some serious competition atlast :)

I doubt they will do much with the feedback. eBay has always been very proud of their feedback system no matter how flawed we think it is.

I think it’s a test just like they tested it for private sellers a few months ago

Can’t see it. If anything it’s going to be free for us all and the buyer pays.
Thanks Chris was waiting on your take ......... jeez its all happening !
Crazy crazy week of updates.
EBay used to use the wallet system years ago. Like you not bothered if business sellers use a private account

I don't sell any clothing on my business account but got the offer. Thank you for your thoughts on this, very interesting.
Glad it was helpful!

Already listed qualifies immediately no need to relist.
@@CarBoot_Chris that's great news. You're gonna save loads with all your clothing. 💥 💥

I meant per month, we work in months I just took that for granted. And yes I think it will all be the same eventually.

@@propsandcosplayabsolutely no point is worrying what other people are doing when you can’t have any affect on it.
