Statistically, I don't know if black men are being raised to be providers. But I will say personally and subjectively I will agree because I am a black man. lol. Keep in mind that she said the child/children needed to be able to catch an Uber by themselves. That said to me that she didn’t even want to drive that older kids around. Yes, she doesn’t want to change diapers, but she came across as, “I’m done with kids all together, so they better be self sufficient.” Which is much much different than saying you’re ok with older kids. To make such a generalized statement about men in her ethnic group was ignorant. I feel the same way about any black individual making a generalize statement about black men/women. I've met Hispanic/Latin men who are industrious, go getters, working, ambitious, etc, and not "mama boys."
I understand we can't generalized but I understood what she meant. As a Latina myself, I grew up seeing how many Latino man are taken care of by their moms to the point they grow up and can't cook or clean or do their own laundry. Expect the woman to do it all plus work. However, not all and they are hard workers. This might be her experience and not her preference.
