It's been great to watch this again. Mick and I watched this together from his apartment. He hadn't been playing much by that point but after watching these performances, especially Tim Miller's recorded solo pieces, he was moved. The next day his coffee table was sprawled with numerical and symbolic sketches with arrows and more arrows. He had found the love expressed here energizing and his wheels were spinning again.

I assume based on the tone (and, in some cases, the word choice) of the tributes that despite this being prior to Mick Goodrick’s death and prior to his gofundme page creation, people knew he was terminally ill.

No, actually at the time of this tribute, Mick was in seclusion and had been since the school closed for the pandemic, which was when he closed his office door for the last time. Nobody knew he was sick, he wanted it that way. He was a very private person and the idea of people looking at him differently or being concerned about his health was his nightmare.
They just knew he was watching remotely and they also knew he didn't like being lauded in public, and so it was assumed it was due to this that he didn't attend.
