It's really stunning the way this studio merges organic forms with some influences of their original culture. It's like a step forward of the work of Zaha Hadid. For me, it's really insteresting the approach to express human desire for the future and dreams through architecture.
The way this studio blends organic forms with cultural influences is incredible. I love how they push beyond traditional boundaries, a bit like how Zaha Hadid did but in their own unique way. Their designs feel like a bridge between our aspirations and the future we envision. Architecture that reflects human dreams really speaks to me too!
It really is! Seeing American projects embrace Chinese architects shows how design is becoming more global and collaborative. Using architects like Ma Yansong for projects in the U.S., especially a museum in California, reflects a growing appreciation for diverse perspectives in architecture. It’ll be fascinating to see how these cross-cultural collaborations shape future landmarks!
The brilliance of Architecture as that displayed is only executable into reality with the hands of the equally talented, diverse compliment of Craftsmanship to shape the composition of materiel into the envisaged form design to endure over its time and space.
Their work for me resembles a lot of Oscar Niemeyer in the use of curves in an otherwise rigid environment. You can always spot his work here because he was kind of an antidote to the brutalist style more commonly implemented during our military dictatorship from the mid-60's to the mid-80's.
Thanks for sharing that insight! It's fascinating how MAD Architects' use of curves can evoke Niemeyer's style, especially as a counterpoint to rigid or brutalist environments. Just like Niemeyer, they seem to embrace fluidity and organic forms that stand out in contrast, creating a sense of movement and softness. It’s amazing to see how architecture can serve as both a creative expression and a response to the times!
It's difficult to see if this kind of architecture is too avangarde or not. For many, it is for sure. What for the intention depicted by Ma Yansong, it is not. Under no doubt, it drives to reflection and leaves no one indifferent.
Ma Yansong’s work definitely pushes the boundaries of what we consider 'normal' architecture. While it may seem avant-garde to some, his intentions are so thoughtfully rooted in storytelling and reflection that it goes beyond just being futuristic. I think that’s what makes it so impactful, it challenges us while inviting us to look at the world differently
Zaha Hadid’s influence on architecture has been profound! her visionary work reshaped how we view form and space, inspiring countless architects around the world. MAD Architects is one of many firms that appreciates her bold approach but channels it into designs that reflect China's natural landscapes and cultural spirit. It’s amazing to see how global inspirations evolve into unique expressions, each rooted in its own context. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

Zaha hadid is not from the west, she’s asian. She was born in iraq, was schooled in lebanon than she moved to london to study architecture at the age of 22. Zaha hadid was never a western in her culture, heritage, design philosophy or self identify as anything but a women from west asia with high ambitions and a desire for a better future.

It's interesting to see USA using Engineers (Architects) from China, especially for a museum in California.

Another cheap chinese rip-off of the West, here from Zaha Hadid. You can literally see them using her signature Rhino 3D designs.
