I love PDFs-especially when you can print just the size(s) you want. I always end up tracing off paper patterns anyway, in case I want to do a different size later, or I misplace it, so printing and taping isn’t a big deal-PDFs are basically an infinitely uncut pattern forever, and I love that.
I just thought I would share my experience with your saltwater shorts that I recently printed out and made……went to my cute town’s antique library….with pro printer….it was air printed …so no problem with download….I logged into the libraries WiFi……I printed the pages within a minute…said hi to the librarians and fellow towns people….which I would put as a plus…..sewing can be very isolating….checked out the books…the first 10 pages are free…..so approx 40 pages…can’t remember how many yours is…is 10 cents x 30= $3.00. Then I think your pages are no cut…so I liked that pattern program you are using….and taped them together with no magic tape…it’s expensive and you use a lot…..I use scotch box lock packing tape which is 1.88 inches wide and 22 yards long. Use 1” bits of tape to stick things together also works if you stick and need to remove and move it….I get it at the grocery store……I can’t deal with a projector set-up….I get in a sewing mood and sew…then into a knitting mood and knit and then into a leather making mood and do that….then into furniture painting…..etc….you have to be a dedicated Sewist to set it up to my mind….love your patterns…and we share the same love of linen fabric.
yay! I'm so glad you had a good experience printing my pattern at the library! That's pretty inexpensive, too. I agree about the projector method... I think it's best for someone who sews a LOT!
This was a fun and interesting video with great explanations! I love printed patterns in envelopes. I have not had great luck in matching up and taping pdf patterns. Must be an old school thing. ☺️ Or, maybe it’s just an old lady thing! 😂
I went to a local town to me in the UK and 2 different printers had no idea what I was asking them to do... Print off my pattern at A0... Luckily the second one did agree to it but it cost £30 ($40 USD) for the 2 pages without the instructions the concept is obviously still new here... And the cost including the pattern and drive to town adds up..

I've made a right old mess taping patterns up before now... I agree about the envelopes....
Haha you're not alone! I think printing and taping pdf patterns can be a bit confusing, too!
