This is how you make sci-fi weapons. You make them as believable as you can, building "the futuristic look" around them. You can't just take a futuristic looking real world gun like the FN P-90, and say "Here's a laser rifle!" because all you did was take a real world gun and add pew-pew effects. This film still has the coolest sci-fi weapons, and in fact, vehicles and all around sci-fi military ever in my opinion. Read the Colonial Marines technical manual and see how it all works.
I think you mean sci-fi military weapons, but I gotta partly disagree with you. James Cameron team did a pretty good job creating the plasma rifle for Terminator 1984. They took a Valmet bullpup AK and added a sci-fi looking scope on it to create the plasma rifle, since the rifle itself is already sci-fi looking. You can take a P90 and turn it into a laser rifle by installing the PS90 barrel. To make it a believable sci-fi laser rifle in the movie, you could film those gun props in some dark action scenes with little lighting so the connoisseurs like us wouldn't notice right they are P90 away. Low-budget style! I also think that you missed the part in this documentary where they showed the H&K VP70 used in Aliens. The pistol was unmodified and was used because it looks sci-fi.
The only movie that has come close to the badass coolness of the weapons in James Cameron's Aliens was District 9. The Arc Generator gun is in league with the Pulse Rifle and Smartgun, IMO!
@something12211 In fact this is "Aliens". "Alien" is the first movie of the franchise. If you are interested, watch Alien, Aliens, and Alien 3. The fourth movie sucked so hard compared to the others that it isn't worth watching. In fact it not only sucks, but kinda ruins an excellent franchise.
@bartsim76 I don't think we can qualify a "better" movie between the three of them, as they are different from each other, they have different perspectives. They are all awesome, but for me the first "Alien" is acknowledge as arguablky the most renowed for some reasons: it was the first movie, so it was creative, innovative, well, it was the first one. The director's work was the best among them, the takes, photography... anyway, it was a better "movie" in its essence.
I didn't realise that so many Englishmen had a big role in making the movie. I thought it was all American for some reason. Don't ask why though 🤷 just did.
Lots of conversation around getting rid of blanks in movies after idiot Baldwin and crew, but even the highest budget and best effects could never duplicate the weapons in this movie because they are REAL guns with a costume on, firing real blanks. The recoil, the flash, the ejection of spent shells, the movement of the operating mechanisms, its all amazing and you just aren't doing that with CGI and the actor pretending the gun moves.
Haha! Vasquez is like " why are you touching my gun?"

Jesus Christ this movie was amazing
The pistol used by Gorman is a VP70, the pistol used by Vasquez is a Smith and Wesson model 39.
Even in the future the old 9x19mm gets the job done

Exactly. Alien III was terrible for so many reasons, the least of which was the effects. Terrible!
@2:52 she all lookin at him like”... if u dont get this heavyass shit off me....”😆😆😆😆💯
the pulse rifle is the best
I always wanted to see the phased plasma rifle 40 watt range!
@@matthewjdouglas6471 Hey, just what you see pal.
Vasquez only needs to know one thing
"Where they are"
This is so epic, I had to go get a taco and some pixy stix.
I liked all alien movies.
If you like Halo, and the sarge in Halo CE, Aliens was the inspiration for all of that.
The Assault Rifle, the Flood, Sergeant Major Blow The Hell Out Of Your Alien Ass Johnson. Halo was like a love letter to that movie.
Ah! interesting, thank you for sharing :)
Cool to see Vasquez. Did not think she was so petite. But mean lol.
3 ruined it for me. Period. =(

What movie is this? I've never seen it before :O

@something12211 Well, so you GOTTA see it. It's called "Aliens". Watch first "Alien", then "Aliens" and then "Alien 3".
@Turbokaratelaserpuma it's not a masterkey, it's a Remington 870 with a spas 12 grip
It's a callsign for any underbarrel shotgun attachment
@Acid4Blood is it Alien?
do you know what brand the 1911 was? at closer look it has an external extractor, most 1911's have internal extractors.
To clear some things up, the pistol used by Gore
metal bullets? still? we want plasma and high powered lasers!!!
Hahahahahahah!!!!
Hard ammo is more effective than lasers, they can do those now anyway, but they were shite.
Gorman and Frost carry a VP70, only Vasquez has a 1911 with a white grip
It was a Smith & Wesson Model 39.
I didn't realise that so many Englishmen had a big role in making the movie. I thought it was all American for some reason. Don't ask why though 🤷 just did.
The film was shot at Pinewood Studies in England. At the time, it was a lower cost option than shooting in the U.S..
VP70?! i thought it was 1911!
RIP syd mead

But sadly blanks can cause weapon malfunction
no problem
Alien 3 -4 ruined it for me the cgi in 3 made me cringe.
Just got a vp70
Smith and Wesson, actually. Not a 1911.
actually they used a puppet in front of a blue screen in alien 3, and that's why it looks like really crappy cgi
Vaquaz used a colt 1911
Not a Colt 1911, but a Smith and Wesson Model 39 in 9mm
rewatch alien 3 folks. really not that bad. event in certain spots. corny sometimes but decent .
I like alien 3. My only problem was the CGI
@@walcottdion5821 The xenomorph wasn't CGI, it was a rod puppet filmed against a bluescreen and composited into the film.

How evil is it to say what Canadian army things are still complaining about how healthy people are
These weapons are suck.
