As a hairy-arsed Yorkshireman I never considered myself a Royalist but when that lady died I cried like a child. She was my Queen for everyday of my life and now, for some strange reason I miss her. I have tears in my eyes as I type now. Thank you for your respect to our Queen and country. God save the King.

I hope that "God save the King" will be sung with the same passion. Personally I doubt it - he has had a difficult start, has never really been liked. Personally a man who has to have his pyjamas ironed each night, takes his toilet seat on every visit abroad, has to have 1 inch on toothpaste measured on his toothbrush, has never been faithful to his wife (even though she was not his choice) and during the funeral for his "Mummy" when he and Camilla had to sign the official papers, called the man who was to take away the signed papers "slave" (I and my son heard it and Camilla was very embarassed) (what I have written was relayed by his personnel and royal biographer), well I don't like him anymore although at 4 years old, I was madly in love with him - lol !!!!

Our sense of patriotism is quiet and dignified. Not many nations realise this until we have an occasion like this. Did you notice a few German flags in there? It sometimes surprises people that we British are often seen as stoic, unemotional, stiff upper-lip types, but we certainly can(and do) be patriotic, emotional and immensely proud of our country. I really enjoyed your reaction to this, thanks for your respect and obvious emotion and enjoyment! I always find it fascinating to see reactions, it's intriguing to see how people from other parts of the world see us, and react to us, and it makes me look at what I am obviously familiar with, as an Englishman, and see so much of it with a different perspective. This was a sixties song by Gerry and the Pacemakers, a group from Liverpool. It became adopted as an anthem both for Liverpool City and also Liverpool Football club and is sung on mass by the fans. It sounds amazing even though i am not from Liverpool and am not a huge football fan. You could react to the recorded version with that is linked to the city with video and then the live version that happened at Melborne in Australia when Liverpool FC played them. Reputedly this is 95,000 people in a stadium and the amazing thing is most of them are Australian. It goes to show the power of music. I think you will love this. Happy thanksgiving xx

Last night of the proms always special never miss it. Those standing at the front are the promenaders the parks from all around Britain have their own concerts but all join for this final night. It ends a summer of music concerts up and down the country.

Happy Thanksgiving Tony. I have been following your channel and really enjoyed your journey through British culture.
The Last Night of the Proms is a British Institution. This version of our national anthem is my favourite and never fails to make me shed a tear.

You were not alone in getting a little misty. Ex-soldier with a lifelong respect and devotion to Queen Elizabeth. Been hard - my Honk Kong born wife considered the Queen her British mum. Emotional stuff all around - thank you for the reactions. A personal favourite for the Proms would be Land of Hope and Glory (our unofficial anthem) - "Elgar: Pomp and Circumstance | BBC Proms 2014"

I went to a 'Last Night at the Proms' concert in Germany in around 2004. It was a great experience and to see the concert hall full of German folks singing Rule Britannia, Jerusalem, God Save the Queen etc., and waving Union Flags was simply amazing.

Your kind and thought provoking words at the end Mr Squiz…. 😨😰 (I’m blaming it on those damned chopped up onions ….. not me getting over emosh….👀🥺)
Hope you have/had a feast of a Thanksgiving with the wife and family and thank you for just being Mr Squirrel xxx 😘
I personally, will never stop missing our Queen - I cried at hearing the announcement, watching the vigils, at her funeral ceremony and when her lone piper played for the last time … 😥and I still find it hard to accept that she is no longer with us - Christmas Day will be strange - listening out for Her speech at 3.00pm, that has occurred since forever, almost - and just NOT seeing her looking calm, dignified and just being The Queen…

Her majesty was a time keeper, my 77 year old mother said "I can't imagine the world without the Queen" and yet her we are.
We may have a new King, but as a nation, we are still lost without our 'mother'.
The loss of her will take years /decade to get over 😞
