      The 4th and 4 no fg....thats a big 1. No d rush pressure is huge. A few more bad open field tackles and getting gashed. Lastly hurts final bad decision, while only needing like 2 10yd plays. Hated all them. We abandoned run 2nd half until 4th qtr with the lead. Things id like to see...same as last week, more involvement with Goedert and Dotson. Hurts did it more yesterday but, sometimes hes gotta rush north more and not just east and west.

      This is a very stunning situation. There is something wrong with the coaching. The defense in the last drive was in the wrong place on every play. You can't play not to lose. They allowed 20+ yard passes scared for the over the top pass. However the Falcons didn't play that way on the Eagles last drive. They played straight up defense.

      It's about time they start giving more snaps to Williams and Ojomo instead of Davis. I'm sure Carter is drawing double teams, leaving the other DT with one guy to beat. Davis isn't playing with power, and maybe Williams or Ojomo on a more regular basis might do better. Huff looks like a bust. Maybe we see if Devon White can rush the passer from the edge spot? At this point, they should try everything. The secondary is doing the best they can given how long they are being asked to cover receivers; CJGJ was poor in coverage on that blitz that turned into a TD, which is infuriating since it was either the first blitz we tried or it was nearly the first one tried. The defense look somewhat competent when in the red zone (we might want to see what Rodgers looks like on the outside with Q at the other outside CB spot, because Slay was awful on the biggest play of the game at a moment when he couldn't afford to be bad). But the defensive line was bad in every aspect of the game; I could almost live with limited QB pressure if they were stopping the run, but they can't stop the run either. I understand the Falcons played an entirely different offense compared to the Steelers game (in which they basically telegraphed every play so the Steelers could jump all over everything), but the coaching staff should have been able to adjust and get these guys to play a lot better than they did.

      @christophercomisac379 2 місяці тому +7

      Reddick disappeared for decent stretches of the last two seasons, getting sacks in bunches, normally against subpar teams. It also sounds like his attitude wasn't appreciated in the locker room. He isn't worth what he is asking, and, long term, his contract and presence in the locker room would have been bad for the Eagles. That's entirely separate from the Huff situation, though the Eagles spent a bunch of money hoping Huff could get better and replace Reddick... and he hasn't and he looks like a bust after two games of trying to use him as an every-down edge rusher. At this rate, they should throw Jalyx Hunt in and see what he can do - it can't be any worse than Huff, and maybe switching Huff back to a situational rusher could get something out of him.

    Their biggest issue is a combination of play calling and defense.
    1st playcalling: Not taking the points. I understand being aggressive, BUT considering the kind of choppy play that was happening early, just take the points.
    2nd playcalling: 3rd down pass to Saquon. Sure, Barkley should of had that catch. However, why get away from what was working so well.
    Defense: No pass rush. Missing Redrick's pass rush ability to help get pressure. And with no pass rush, also comes no run stop. Like with GB, they killed us in the run, which step play action for Kurt. This Defense doesn't look hungry.
    Despite all this, it's only week 2. Two more games to clean it up and scheme for not having AJ on the field. Though we'll see, considering how good both the Saints and Bucs are.

    The defensive scheme is the biggest issue. There is plenty of talent on the defense. The coaching staff does not know how to scheme with these players. A team with Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis clogging middle should be dominant up front. The ends are too far left and right which makes running easy. It looks like a wide 9 technique. It is pitch and catch. The offense cannot bail them out all the time. A team with 36 minutes of TOP and 185 rushing yards should never lose a game.

    My take on the game is 2 part. First, defensively, we don't adjust. Zone and straight cover defenses were killing us because we could get no pressure on the quarterback. Need to switch to man under cover when they're hitting the holes in the zone. Give the defensive line some an extra second or 2. Offensively, their blindness to middle of the fields routes and getting the mismatch of saquon vs a linebacker is glaring. Use Saquon's strength or your receiver's speed to exploit a mismatch. Isn't that what motion is supposed to help you identify and take advantage of?

  • @forever9314
    @forever9314 2 місяці тому

    First off, thank you Thomas for going back and rewatching this game to make the video. You're a stronger man than I am 😅.
    I'm deeply worried, because up until now we thought the problem was Jalen and the turnovers. Turns out our defense can't get a sack or a stop. Call up the Jets and get Hassan Reddick, or anyone that can actually register pressure. Because if you can't pressure a statue like Kirk Cousins idk how the hell this defense is supposed to make a run.
    Like yes they had a few RedZone stops, but like damn. You can't just let the Falcons run all over the defense, keeping our offense off the field.
    Also also, this game would have been over if Saquon had just caught the damn ball. Or if they ran it on third probably would've gotten enough for a brotherly shove. Clearly thinking the defense could stop Captain Kirk from getting 70 yards (with 1 minute 40ish and no timeouts) was a bad idea.
    Like damn

They need the coaches to make the right calls when it counts. Also, kick the field goal when it's early, same with extra points. You never know when you are going to regret not having those points. Last gripe, if you are going to make that throw on 3rd down, you need to have the guts to go for it on 4th down when a field goal had you losing by 1.
