- In this classic 16mm film the legendary angler Lee Wulff chronicles his early days of flying and fishing in Newfoundland and Labrador. In fact these videos are from the government archives as the province paid Lee to promote the fishing. This was just after World War II and his early days of using a float plane. Crazy that he was hooking and landing such massive trout and salmon on a small 7 foot bamboo rod! What is amazing is that fishing is still great in much of Newfoundland and Labrador, just like then!

Just picked up a Lee Wulff edition 4piece Garcia fly rod ...mint with original sock and tube. I love it.
Lee & gaudy were kinda mentors for me fly fishing & tying as a kid in early 1950s I am proud to kow of him when folks were few in fly fishing and Bugs were plenty :)

His 10 year old son is my 82 yr old grandpa now! He’s still around & a great guy. Appreciate you! I never got to meet Lee but my middle name is Lee after him.

If they ever new how scarce Salmon are today i don't think they would be smashing the Salmon's head.
These were early times--remember Lee susequently pioneered Catch & Release---
It's an odd narrative, where Lee's innate poetic desire clashes with the rat-a-tat reportage style of those times, like wild clear waters choked into a sluice of concrete and fed over a fish ladder.
