    Glad I’ve found your page. Joined a fishing club this year and I’ll be doing matches for the first time. Looking forward to seeing your tutorials and other vids to help the newcomers out. Keep it up

      Zak, this is great to hear! What region are you from and where will you be doing the majority of your fishing? Is there anything I’d be able to help you out with, in preparation for your matches? BB

      @@FirstTimeFishing I’m in Sheffield so will be fishing round the South Yorkshire area. One video I wish I could watch but I can’t seem to find on UA-cam is what actually happens on a match day. Form turning up, drawing pegs, how long to set up etc. Would you be able to do a video on this? I imagine people like myself who have never fished a match we don’t know what to expect or how the day is structured. Thanks

      No problem Zak... Match days are quite simple and slightly differ depending on venue, normally you’ll need to book your slot at least 24 hours before the scheduled match. On the morning you’ll have a peg drawn at the venue of which is up to you what time you get there in order to set up, some anglers like to get set up well before the start time and have some breakfast, others turn up 45 mins before, throw their kit up and straight into the match. So that is up to you, but I advise to get there couple hours before your first match and ensure you’re completely happy, plumb the depth of your peg and understand where the slopes/shelves are. Well the horn sounds, generally you’ll have 5 hours to catch as many fish as you can, in whichever way you want as long as you stick to the club rules, so get clued up on those! When the final horn goes, if you have a fish on, you generally have 15 mins to land it, but if not, secure your keepnets (of which there will be a limit of weight (by you guessing as the fish keep getting put in), which is normally 60lb-ish, again, check club rules) and start to pack away. As the club team come round to you to weigh, empty your nets into the bucket/bag and then they will weigh them for you... then take the winnings home 😉 it’s a great day! Make sure you let me know how you get on... it will take you a season to get used to it all and become really efficient, so don’t get frustrated and learn each time you fish 👍🏻 BB

    Another great video mate, would like to see a video recommending gear for beginners on the budget side of things. Cheers Pat

    Great vid, I imagine that the force of the press of those pellets into the feeder will be harder if you’re fishing in deep water?

    • @FirstTimeFishing
      @FirstTimeFishing 3 роки тому +2

      You’d be surprised Sav, once the soaked pellets are in the feeder, they seem to grip, and they’re not going anywhere... it’s the water that breaks them down and loosens them... the weight of the feeder hits the bottom of 5/6ft of water within seconds and the pellets take about 20 seconds and off you go... just make sure if you try it, not to disturb the feeder when it lands, like pulling against the line clip to put it on the rod rest... casting is key... 👍🏻

    I’m not convinced set the elasticated feeder up as if you’re fishing cut the main line get hold of the bait/hook and try and get the feeder off can’t vouch for you but I can’t get them off and so how does a fish

    Fish are after the pellets they will ignore the wafter trust me .best 2” hook length and pellet 👌

    So how do you get the feeder off the line once you've removed the stem I understand the X safe but what with the normal stems? Is there something I'm not seeing ? Thankyou!

    • @FirstTimeFishing
      @FirstTimeFishing Рік тому

      You have to unhook the elastic stem at the top, or if it’s inline, you have to snap the line and start again… this is where the ICS system from Preston is so much better as you can swap feeders at any time without ‘starting again’, hope that helps Robert 👍🏻 BB

    Nice clear video, but your hookbait isn't critically balanced with the wafter, so you're fishing a pop-up. Either reduce hookbait size to 8mm wafter/ 12 hook, or 10mm wafter/ 10 hook etc. The hookbait would then meander around the feeder vs popping up 4". Thanks for the vid tho :-)

      😆 I know Steve… it didn’t ‘Waft’ at all! I think I had a batch of extra buoyant wafters 😆 I relabelled the pot ‘pop-ups’ 😆 thanks for the kind words Steve 👍🏻 BB
