- Today I go on my first ever DayZ adventure as a complete beginner. I play solo on an official server and attempt to survive my first day by fighting off zombies, securing a reliable source of water and food, and building a basic shelter to spend the night.

Since Conan hasn't been doing so well lately, I decided to try out another PvP survival game. I had a really fun time recording/editing this first episode. If you'd liked me to continue my DayZ journey and progress from a total noob, definitely let me know in the comments and leave like/subscribe. Hoping the YT algorithm doesn't entirely bury this video cause it isn't Conan, lol.

What made you pick dayz of all the options?
I quit conan exiles a long time ago, it is just full of hackers, dayz is the next level for me it is very hardcore.
also if you wait in an area for about 15 minutes it will spawn food. and if you see mushrooms it means that there is a player nearby. not just mushrooms you can find fruits too.
Love watching people play this game, i'd love watching the full length versions of this series aswell.
I’ll try and see if I can make the videos longer. This ep had like 2-3 hours of raw footage. :)
And one thing to think about at the early game, dont run everywhere. That will burn up alot of your food that is hard to find sometimes
Oh yeah. I also gotta learn to manage my stamina better, I feel like I run out quick when I’m fighting zombies.
food is easy when you know how to get it. you need a knife. cut clothes to make 12 rags, combine to make rope. kill chicken, turn bones to hooks with the knife. dig worms with knife. combine large stick with rope to make a fish rod. combine hook with worm to make bait. never go hungry in game again.

When you fight the zombies, aim slightly above their head. You'll kill them faster. Climbing onto objects and punching them is useful as well especially if there's more than one.
Thanks for the tip, brother! I noticed while editing that I was punching more towards the chest. I’ll aim for the head next time.
one thing you could start doing towards the start is putting your back to the water and going inland. the further inland you go, the better loot you will find. be careful when you go in big cities and don’t ever get caught standing still.
Fastest start for top tier gear on officials would be a rogovo spawn and running up to vmc then airfield, also, IZurvive or any map is a good tool for learning. Good luck on dayz bro looking forward to the content

Hey zelo on your next adventure keep a eye out for small skinny base trees with red leaves or orange as these are fruit trees and if you stay in a area with a decent amount of fruit trees around it should spawn some fallen fruit near the base of the trees dried fruit is edible just a bit of info since you just started it can save your life . Love the video btw keep up the good work

Another amazing video let's go. this time a bit different :)). A quick update, today a cheater/cheaters looted half of our stuff from chests at pvp server, and we couldn't find any solution but to leave official pvp servers in the Conan exile. Now, I will follow your journey here.
Sorry to hear that. Cheaters were the reason I started playing DayZ as well. Worst time to be playing on Officials right now. Needed a break from from all that madness, lol.

When you find mushrooms or an apple tree, hang out for a bit they will spawn for you
Oh yeah, forgot about that. Apparently mushrooms is a sign that people have been around recently.

Great video! I hope you still play Conan. Even though its in a rough spot with hackers and cheaters, its still a fun game. Would be good if you expose some of the issues to try and prompt funcom to fix it.

eat food before it decays. best to go to a city near the coast, more opportunity. fun video! also fruit trees are good source at start.
Oh yeah, gotta figure how fast food decays to keep an eye out.

You probably dont remember as its a couple of years ago but i left a comment on one of your very early Conan videos about stamina management as you appeared to be stuggling a bit with that back then .. last time i checked in you were solo raiding large clan bases on Conan so i guess you got the hang of that! :D :D
Looking forward to seeing how you get on in Dayz ... its a fantastic game with so many layers to it.. takes a while to "git gud" as they say but im sure youll do it ... head north west and profit survivor! o7
Hahaha now I gotta work on my stamina management in this game.

Aim over their heads when attacking with melee, for some reason the hit box is weird with melee combat.
Yeah, I'm gonna try to aim towards the sky next time cause for some reason my character will always lower the target when I throw a right hook.

Fruit trees next houses are super important as a source of food when you are a fresh spawn
I’ll keep an eye out for them cause sometimes you really can’t find any food, haha. You gotta wait for the apples to spawn right?
@@Zelosykes so there are 3 types of fruit: apples, pears and plums. They can be ripe, dried or rotten. They will be around the base of trees that are in the houses yards. Just run around the trees and you should see them in the grass. The nice thing about the ripe fruit is they give you both food and hydration.
This is the only reliable food source I have found when spawning in. I can usually get to white food and hydration before leaving the coast by just consuming fruit.
Oh! I should also mention, dried fruit doesn't give much hydration and rotten fruit can be consumed in an emergency but only a couple bites every few mins and best done only with a multivitamin Watch out for "unknown food" cans as these will act much like rotten food. Eaten slowly, they will sustain you but, eaten quickly, will make you sick up and lose more food than you consumed.

I watch and enjoy your conan vids. Dayz way harder to stay alive and have a good source of food. lol its a big learning curve. I'm sure i'll enjoy your dayz adventures. Trust no one. You can just log out and be safe, you cant be killed while offline.
Yep, I always wanted to play DayZ but it always looked so intimidating due to the learning curve. But I’ll take it one step at a time and learn the game slowly.

20:53 your hatchet was ruined so it dropped to the ground when you hit that chicken. not sure if it does any (hatchet/fist punch) damage in cases like that, i think it doesn't

You can eat rotten mushrooms. The one you had was ruined from the zombies hitting you. You can tell this by the red dot next to the items.
Oh, that explains why it was ruined. So you don't get sick from eating rotten food?
@@Zelosykes you won't get sick from any rotten mushrooms. And if you find one, then there is a good chance there are more nearby. They only grow around hay bales and also in wooded areas around dead logs. If you are in a pinch for food, you can just sit in a bush or a house near where mushrooms spawn and they will start popping in over time. The longer you wait, the more will spawn... Note- if you are dry and not cold(and not already sick), sitting still will stop you from losing any energy, thus you will not starve if you sit and wait for mushrooms to spawn. The same trick works with spawning fruit under fruit trees. Mostly every house will have atleast a couple of fruit trees in it's yard. What I like to do is after I go through a small town looting all the buildings, I will go back through again and loot all of the fruit trees because I would have already been in the town for a while, allowing for many fruits to spawn in. Also note- rotten fruit will likely get you sick but it's not always guaranteed.
@@Zelosykes only rotten mushrooms are completely safe to eat. If all of your stats are up and white, full health, full blood, white hunger, white hydration, you will have full immunity to rotten food and dirty water and can safety eat raw or rotten food and drink straight from streams without getting sick.

If you can get comfortable with the fact that you are going to die, a lot... you'll do fine. Look up some loot route vids to help you gear up. (yes your still going to die) remember, this is a survival game with pvp and a steep learning curve. I hated dayz when i first started but when you figure it out it feels like you've accomplished something. Good luck.
Oh good idea about the route videos. I feel like map knowledge is super crucial for this game. It’s gonna take some time to get that, right now all the houses look the same to me, haha.
@@Zelosykes yeah, the map... lol there is no map like conan on official, it wont show you where you are on the map, by design. @superftlol here on yt plays mostly official, no nonsense (mostly) he's been playing since release. his vids will pretty much tell you like it is.
Alternatively you can look up iZurvive on your phone or another device if you can't find one in game, its 3rd party maps for dayz. it still wont tell you where you are but might help you start to learn the map you are on.
Very good gameplay but try to punch the zombies to their head to be much easier for you to kill them btw I’d like to see more dayz content from you

LOL I wish I could use some aloe potions. Healing on DayZ takes forever, haha.
unfortunatly dayz is not a streamable game, because pro dayz players knows exactly where to go and where to begin and where to loot and it takes them less than an hour to gear up and build their base in a safe place, hence dominate the map.

Uninstalled this game 2 or 3 times cause never cant find nails to made me a base. Then I understand it...

Oh yeah, build a base is a massive task on DayZ, especially on an official server where nails are super rare. Much better to build small stashes/bury boxes.

No I haven’t used that yet. Ima check it out cause I have no idea where anything is, haha. The map is HUGE.
@@Zelosykes yeah you need the map. On the map you can See the Spawn locations from heli Crashs, Military convoi and train Events. And on this spots you can get good weapons and armory.
Or you Go straight to the Air field but there might be other Players 😄
So for the next episode (haven’t recorded it yet), I want to try and get some better gear… maybe a better gun and ammo, and a vest so that I can at least take a shot from other players. I was thinking about hitting up a military outpost, just gotta find where one is.
Air Field sounds too sweaty for a noob like myself haha but maybe if I run into it, I’ll risk it.
@@Zelosykes the outposts are also good yes. If you are going through Forrests Always Check the Hunter shelters there are Sometimes Sniper rifles Like the Tundra spawning

The thing where you went completely wrong; you joined official servers. They are infested with bug abusers and cheaters, absolutely no point playing online at officials. Also PvP aspect of this game is garbage.

You can avoid zombies easily or outrun / lock them in somewhere.

Don’t know much about how the DayZ community is, but I know they have a “no mic, no life” type of culture, haha. So usually players with no mics will get killed. It’s a very interactive game when it comes to in-game talking, much more than Conan.
