I honestly can’t wait until they replace all the old clunkers with the new cars. I understand that some people have an emotional attachment to these old things, but that just means that they need to put a few in a museum. We shouldn’t keep forcing people to ride in them. The new trains are soooooo much better in every way that I genuinely feel cheated when one of these old ones shows up instead of a new train! I wouldn’t mind it if they kept a couple of full consists that they restored to 100% stock form at launch. But those things would have to be genuinely completely restored and not just left in the deplorable state that they are currently in. They could, for example run those on the weekends to show people what BART’s historic fleet was or maybe for special events. But in the state that these things are in right now, I’d almost rather swim across the Bay rather than ride in one vs the new trains!
@@RedReacts2025 I like the old fleet too. It's an iconic design and a technical achievement. It has spawned a ton of copycats and influence the design of light metros the world over. But the old cars were 50 years old. They were outdated technologically and perpetually broken Most of the riders loathed them. They were hard to clean and started to smell of urine and feces because of it. It was long past time for a un upgrade. And we got it! Rejoice! May these last us another 50 years! (But hopefully we upgrade to the next generation much sooner this time, lol)
They don't force people to ride the old fleet as of today. Back then Operators would either drive a Legacy Train or A Fleet Of The Future. This doesn't mean forcing someone to ride a train.
