Soft Arranger instalation tutorial (for Windows)

- Soft Arranger is a free software based MIDI arranger that works on Windows and Mac. Apart from the arranger application you will need to install Reaper, TX16Wx and a couple of other things. In this tutorial you have the necessary steps to install everything on a Windows computer and you will be set to go and have some fun making music.
Soft Arranger is aimed primarily at professionals who perform live on stage in front of an audience but it is perfectly usable in a home or amateur environment.

Hello, if you have trouble downloading, try other mail client. I could'nt download by gmail, but had succes with the windows 10 mail. Also, READ carefully the installation instructions. They are very well explained and concise. Thumbs up for the programmer. This is IMHO, the best soft arranger around. He deserves donations to reward all his effort. Best wishes ...

Hi, I was looking for such a software to play auto accompaniment in midi keyboard and I am using Cubase 10.5. recently I saw this video and downloaded the soft Arranger along with other required software (Reaper) as per your instruction. The first issue was under preference, Keyboard/ multi touch- Assign keyboard shortcut - I get an error message the message is (Error saving keyboard binding table! Could not create file)
No2. Even though the setup video is given there are no tutorial for start playing. Please be kind enough to help me to sort this error and the way to start playing (the way of connecting sound etc)
Also willing to know the of connecting Cubase
I'm not sure why Reaper is giving you this error but you don't need to create any keyboard shortcuts to use Soft Arranger.

For connecting other DAWs while it is possible it will require some re-configuring the DAW from your part. Here it explains it in more detail: softarranger.com/faq/can-soft-arranger-work-with-other-daws-or-hardware-synths/

@@SoftarrangerTV you probably forgot a couple of steps, like rescan for VST plugins (and use VTS2 not VST3), and to load in Reaper SA.RPP! 🙂

Thank you. I really appreciate every bit of support. Right now the project has slowed down a little due to summer gigs but I plan to rev it up again very soon as it's over.
I instal every step from video then i open softver then sound doesnt work after that i try some difrent set up and then i can hear sound from style but my midi doesnt work and dont change chord after i try to make midi to work sound doesnt work can u help me to make that set up to work
Can you confirm that your keyboard is transmitting on MIDI CH 3? Also is it in the right octave? Maybe you are in a high octave and that doesn't trigger the arranger chords. Just some ideas because what you are explaining sounds very weird.
Does the Soft Arranger save/export its job into midi?

Hello, I have already sent an email, but I wrote without a translator, so it is difficult to understand. I did everything, the only big problem is that the arranger can't recognize my CHROD. Sometimes, but only sometimes, it recognizes one chord and then none. The problem is that I can't switch my keyboard to CH3. Sono 61. I can access all other channels and see that they are active, but ch 3 (MAYBE IT IS ACTIVE?!) but does not blink in the arranger as active and does not recognize the chord. The key division is set to 77. I changed that as well, but it doesn't help.
Edit:
I lowered the midi split point to 30 and now it blinks chanell 3 - but it still doesn't recognize the chord. Sometimes, one of 100 times,he recognizes one, and then none.
Another problem - TX16 is always looking for a sample, it can't find it by itself, so I have to open it manually, because it's looking for it on the VOLUME hdd/, which I don't have. I can't tell him where to look forever for samples…
I solved that part by using only the Kontakt, it's a bit of a mess with changing the volume and changing the effects in the kontakt itself, but I'll manage it.
Cant see any import/export selection in the reaper preferences > assign keyborard shortcuts to actions > ???? !!!!!!!
Please help I really want to use the software...........................

Hi Manny. You are right. In the new version of Reaper this has changed slightly.
When you are in Options > Preferences > General > Keyboard/Multitouch > Assign keyboard shortcuts to actions or change existing shortcuts.
In the window that pops up, instead of clicking Import/export... which doesn't exist anymore you must click Key map > Import shortcut key map... and then continue as instructed by selecting the "SA Reaper Actions.ReaperKeyMap" file from your computer.
I hope this clears it up. Let me know if you need any more help.
can it be used for ableton live
It will require some re-configuring from your part in Ableton but yes. In theory it will work with any DAW.

One issue I still have, the chords don't follow me. I need to redirect my midi keyboard to channel 3, right? Any tips on how to do this the easiest way in Reaper would be much appreciated.
Yes, your MIDI keyboard should be transmitting on MIDI CH3. If everything is working correctly, when you play notes on the keyboard you should see the mute/activity buttons light up on the screen. These are the buttons numbered 1-16 and when you play the right part of the keyboard you should see number 3 light up.
There is really nothing you need to do in Repaer except setting the preferences as described in the video and loading the SA.RPP project.
There is a small bug with the MIDI ports that can happen while starting Soft Arranger and it could be causing your problems. Send me an email at info@softarranger.com we'll figure out exactly what is happening so that you can be up and running in no time.

Thanks for quick response, but i tried to do as you advised me and it is useless. When i chose the portable install then i browse it and i chose the SArranger and i opened the folder there are two folders, app folder and runtime folder + dll's files. Can you help me to check it thru Team Viewer when you'll be available? Thank you!

Hello! i can't install the Reaper inside of Soft Arranger because inside of the SArranger folder no Reaper file . My O.S is W.10

There isn't a Reaper file in the folder until you install Reaper.
You have to download Reaper and install it but instead of installing it on the normal Program Files folder you have to do a portable install and tell the Reaper installer to install in the Reaper folder which is inside SOFT ARRANGER PACKAGE folder. Then you will have the file there.

I don't use Cubase so I can't help you there but Soft Arranger simply sends MIDI messages so if you can configure Cubase to receive MIDI from Soft Arranger you will be set.
The next question is if styles that are created for Reaper will sound the same on Cubase. The answer is, no, unless you spend a lot of time setting it up and tweaking it.

Yes Soft Arranger is free. You will get the password automatically after you sign up to the newsletter on the website. Currently subscribing to the newsletter is required because it is in beta stage and I need to be able to contact users in case there is a major problem that needs to be quickly fixed.

Nope, not working. Followed everything on the video, but it's too convoluted and there's probably some bugs going around that prevent reaper from actually producing any sound.
I'm sure it is something simple. There are still some small bugs but nothing that prevents it from working and producing music. Send me an email (info@softarranger.com) and I can help you troubleshoot the problem you are having.

Hi, currently there is no way to convert styles from other arrangers. The problem is that every arranger has slightly different features and it's very difficult to create an exact equivalent on Soft Arranger. This is definitely something I would love to see some day but many things have to come together (time, money, support, number of users...) before such a project can be started.

Sorry about that. A small number of users appear to be having trouble with the download manager. In all cases it looks like a problem with Chrome browser running on Windows. You can try with a different browser or just send me an email to info@softarranger.com and I'll reply with a link to download without password.

Hi Ron, It's inside the KeyMaps folder which is inside the Reaper folder included in the zip file. So you should find it wherever you decompressed the SOFT ARRANGER PACKAGE.
