    Came back to enjoy again, it's autumn in Canada on the East Coast! Gets dark just around 6:00 in the evening! Great to watch these living in the city! And time goes back one hour in November. Standard time, early evenings in a few weeks around 4:30 p.m. Thanks once again for posting!

      Hi Janita, I'm pleased you enjoyed this one. I live in the UK, the autumn colours are fantastic, the air is cooler, but we are still enjoying plenty of sunshine and the days are getting noticeably shorter. I love the seasons, spring being my favorite, I love to watch the garden come back to life after being dormant for the winter months. Winter in Canada is way colder than in the UK, although I think you are better prepared. If it snows here everything stops, we simply don't have the equipment to deal with it. Stay warm and keep safe. Tim.

      Thank you, I'm delighted you enjoyed it. I clamped a camera to the side of the train and left it running, intending to use short clips mixed with the shots I was taking with a hand held camera. I watched the film back from the camera, the sound was no good, just wind noise, but the picture was fine. I searched through my music collection for a few tracks to use with the video in place of the terrible wind noise, the result was OK, so I continued and treated the whole video in two parts. I appreciate your kind comment. Cheers. Tim.

    Tim, your video productions are brilliant, especially those from the antipodes. But, this journey on South Island NZ, accompanied by your assembled vistas & most appropriate sound track music, is the best escapism from COVID lockdown blues! When displayed on a large screen TV, with ‘surround sound’ streaming.... just lifted the atmosphere; it dispelled the endless cycle of ‘rolling news’. Escapism of the highest order. Peter

      Hi, I will miss visiting New Zealand this year, maybe it will be possible in 2021. I love the beautiful unspoiled scenery, although the Kaikōura Earthquake did caused a lot of changes to the railway and parallel road shown in this video, it will take a few years for the natural vegetation to hide the scars. Covid 19 has prevented me from filming trains for over 4 months now, I will start uploading videos taken during my 2019 road trip around both North and South Island. As I edit them I realise just how beautiful the scenery is, I look forward to sharing them over the coming months. It's nice to know you enjoyed the escape from the endless depressing News shown on TV, to be honest I enjoy some of the novel videos posted to UA-cam, especially those where people are singing new words about Lock-down to familiar tunes, some of then really make me smile. Thank you for your kind comment, I hope to post Part 2 of this trip before the weekend. Cheers. Tim.

    Hi Tm Thank you for keeping us busy with your entertaining videos. All of which I watch and share with my train group. They love watching them as I do. So glad you are well. It is bad here in Kansas city, Kansas USA still. I am staying inside and wear a mask now always mandatory orders here. I pray this virus ends soon and all our lives will be somewhat normal again. I pray the best for everyone everywhere. Be safe. God bless you and your family.

      Thank you, I'm glad you and your group enjoyed the ride. I am concerned that Kansas is suffering from the virus, it makes good sense to avoid contact with other people whilst the virus is still with us. Wearing a mask helps in the fight, although they can be uncomfortable. I hope our prayers will be answered with an effective and widely available vaccine. Take care and stay safe. Tim.

    To be honest, the music fits the mood of travelling, and worked well in this video. Never mind those who don't like music in videos. To be honest again, I wish commercial music beyond the age of 51 years was in the Public Domain. There's so much commerciat stuff from The Shadows, Tornados, Ventures and other instrumental groups, plus solo artists like Mason Williams and such, that would fit videos like this, but because of copyright laws, we can't use them. Great video! Cheers, Tim!

      Hi Neil, I wasn't sure how this would go down, to be honest it has surprised me, I was concerned it might have proved unpopular, whilst it hasn't set the world alight, its gone down better than I thought it would.
      Restrictions on travel are going to apply for longer than I'd anticipated, whilst heritage lines are starting to open up, they will only be partially open with restricted seating and services. I do have more rail related content, but I will be posting some travel stuff as well. Before UA-cam, I could use whatever music I wanted, because the videos were not for public viewing. Today I have to be more careful, I've had some bad experiences, even with properly licenced music. Epedemic Sound are not expensive, they have an extensive library and their music hasn't caused me any copyright issues. It would be nice if some of the pop music from the past were either licenced at a sensible price or maybe used to support charities, Hank Marvin wrote some excellent music tracks.

    • @neilforbes416
      @neilforbes416 4 роки тому

      @@Timsvideochannel1 The music worked well with the video. Like you, I've had difficulties with so-called "royalty-free" music(Triple Scoop Music, I used one of their tracks and copped a claim, thus avoiding using music until I happened upon the UA-cam Music Library). Like you also, I used commercial music for home DVD burned videos that weren't intended for public viewing. That's why I wish any commercial music beyond the age of 51 years should lapse into Public Domain. And why not. The artists and groups have already earned enough from them. Let others get some use out of them.

    • @Timsvideochannel1
      @Timsvideochannel1  4 роки тому

      @@neilforbes416 To UA-cam's credit they have done a lot to sort erroneous copyright claims out. Their copyright tool works well, on average my videos are ripped off 4 or 5 times a day, sometimes there is a peak when up to 100 are ripped of in single day. I go through the claims, most are using up to 10 minutes from a video as visual content to go with a music track. I ask the channel using my video to credit the visual content to my channel along with a link to the original video in their video description, most are happy to do that, if they are not I issue a 7 day removal request, that way if they remove the video they don't get a strike against their channel, I only issue a take down request if they have used the whole of my video and added titles and credits claiming my work as their own. UA-cam do help creators and give far more guidance than they used to, they don't like videos being ripped off any more than creators do. As for music, I really don't know what the answer is, but like you I'd like see a time limit put on it, after which it enters the public domain. What will happen to my videos, is a channel a salable item, what would my family do with my videos? I've no idea, but if say my daughter expressed a desire to continue my channel, I would like that to be possible.

Covid has prevented me from visiting NZ this year, I had hoped to book on a special holiday train run by Dunedin Railways from Dunedin to Picton with overnight stays at towns along the way. I'm not sure if they will run it in 2021, I hope so, because it is the only way to travel by train between Dunedin and Christchurch.

    Great video. I live in Christchurch NZ and we have done this train ride twice (there & back). When things return to normal I want to do the Northern Explorer N to S.

      Hi, it was taken in late summer 2019. I stayed on the Banks Peninsula for a few days, before setting off into the mountains towards Queenstown, the scenery was amazing. This week I have been editing my 2019 trip on the TranzAlpine, another awesome NZ train ride.
      The Northern Explorer is a lovely experience, I hope you don't have to wait too long for a return to something close to normal life. I first time I did that trip was in 2005, there have been a few changes since then, with the electric commuter services at both ends being extended, along with the smart new carriages, although I did like the observation carriage at the back of the old train, I think it was the "Overlander" back then.

      Hello Eileen, New Zealand is hard to tour by rail in high season, impossible at other times of the year. I'm not sure how the Green government can justify the lack of a decent train service. I can't think of another country that fails to serve its most popular tourist destination by rail (Rotorua). I was sad to see the Taiere Gorge Railway mothballed, I was due to travel with Dunedin Rail on a special 7 day rail tour from Dunedin to Picton about now, sadly that may never happen. I hope the situation with Dunedin Rail is temporary; it was the only region where the council were proactive in promoting rail. To be honest as someone who tours the world by rail, I think the New Zealand government should be heavily criticised for failing to work with the rail tour holiday industry, rail based holidays are popular and common place throughout most of the world. New Zealand is a very expensive place to visit on holiday, an over-priced, uncomfortable, rushed coach tour is no way to appreciate the country, and sharing the roads of South Island with dangerous Chinese drivers isn't the way forward. Maybe only a tourist from outside the country really sees how bad the situation is, tourists cannot be taken for granted, when Covid 19 is under control I really hope New Zealand gets a grip of its tourist industry because I don't meet many Europeans when I'm touring there these days, they are choosing other destinations, simply because when you are paying a lot of money, you can choose almost any destination. I will be posting a video showing the TranzAlpine train in a couple of weeks time, it is a wonderful ride, although the on train staff are not as friendly as they used to be. If I were to meet the Green Prime-minister, I'd ask why they were considering mothballing the overhead wires on the North Island Main Trunk when they should be filling in the two glaring gaps, why most of the main tourist destinations can't be reached by rail, and why the clean green trolley busses have been replaced by somewhat smelly diesel busses in Wellington. She should visit Switzerland or come to it, most European countries to see proper integrated public transport in action. I live in England, a place that didn't appreciate its railways, now we are paying the price, with congested roads, pollution and sky high price tags for reinstating long closed lines. There is one NZ rail adventure I can wholly recommend - www.forgottenworldadventures.co.nz/ Its run by lovely people and its a whole lot of fun. Take care. Tim.

      @@Timsvideochannel1 When the railway was removed here in Eastern Canada back in the 1980's one of the most beautiful ways to travel was removed. I like to see these, with the sound of the railway running along the coast in much the same way. The railyway here in Newfoundland has been turned into a trailway across more than 450 kilometres of track.

      @@janitaosmond5007 It's always sad when a railway closes, especially one running through beautiful scenery. Trailways have become common on old rail routes, better than complete abandonment, at least the route is preserved should the line be reinstated, several have been reinstated here in UK, but the cost has been astronomical because parts of the formation have been built on. My mother keeps pushing brochures in front of me advertising rail holidays in Eastern Canada, my wife prefers warm sunshine, I'll have to find a way to keep them both happy.
