Products like these ear protection devices are mostly made in China to begin with and due to how cheap they are, it's harder to tell. One product I purchase that are EASILY recognized as fakes are microfiber towels. The quality towels are made in South Korea (too expensive to make in America), but the cheap China made towels have a completely different feel to them. The China made towels will usually have a tag sewn into the seam that says Made in China. The quality, Korean made towels will have NO TAG sewn into the seam. Finding Korean made microfiber is much harder to do at any local store but the fake Chinese made towels are in every auto and big box store all over your city.
Just opened up a pair I got from TEMU (essentially AliExpress) and compared them to a “genuine” one that I had already which I purchased off Amazon. Before I watched this video I compared them myself and essentially came up with the same idea. They’re built to a higher quality, the plastic connecting bits look tougher, definitely thicker. One thing I did notice is the fit and finish on the metal screen that goes over the microphones is a bit rougher on the “knockoff”, besides that I can’t tell a difference with audio quality. Time will tell, I’ve yet to take it to the range. What are your experiences with these after 3 months?

He did not admit that it was a fake one but he was very quick with returning the money and canceling the order... bought an other one on Amazon. The little rubber plug on the knock-off is quite loose, compared with the genuine one. The genuine one is specially made to avoid this looseness. This is no doubt more costly when done right. The metal grating over the microphones is shaped differently (formed more economically). The font for the word 'razor' is similar on the knock-off and the genuine item (when compared between units of the same purported model), but the boldness (thickness) on the fake is too thin...to the point where any bleed-over that encroaches from the background into the characters results in a quite noticeable change in the visual proportionality of the affected characters. The plastic hinge-piece does differ, as mentioned in the video. And, when compared to a genuine example of the same model, the difference is still evident. I went through the same process of hopeful skepticism, and ordered mine when they were on sale in "Choice" for $8.00. These fakes are definitely worth that much.* Since then, they've regularly offered them to me every day for $13.00. * I haven't had them to the range yet.
I got mine from Ali and compared with a full ear protection muffs but I couldn’t tell the difference, but I put a walkie on the Ali-walker, without batteries on the muff, and it works just as expected, so basically I think I will eventually buy an authentic one when the razor drops in price on Amazon. So far I can use it in shooting range and talk lol
Im unsure if my aliexpress razors are authentic and dont know how to test it without a firearm. Does snapping your fingers while its on cut the audio off? When I snap my fingers with the headphones on it doesn't cut out my snapping so I'm worried i got a faulty pair.

Hi Gun Hobby. I'm interested in the manufacturer's of each of the two models you purchased (Amazon vs. Ali). Even if they were identical size, shape, etc... the electronics inside them may be different. Walker's makes both electronic AND digital electronic Razor Slim models, and the manufacturer's #, depending on the model, is sometimes the only way to tell them apart. The non-digital electronic model won't have a "D" in the manufacturer's # (for example, GWP-RSEM doesn't include a D), while the digital electronic model will have a "D" (GWP-DRSEM). The digital muffs are an upgrade (both amplify "safe sounds", but the digital models allow for the wearer to better determine the direction the sound is coming from). That said, even when the manufacturer's # is the same, it's possible to have one headset behave differently than the other, with one reason being, as you suggested earlier in your video, they were produced in different years. If you receive my comment and you still have the packaging, would you mind letting me know their manufacturer's #. Thanks, and great video!
It's a curious thing to be sure. I'm betting Walker's licensed their design out because otherwise I'd have to imagine their would be lawsuits. These are being HEAVILY advertised and pushed from TEMU on Facebook ads. Tens of thousands sold I'm sure and that's not something that would just fly under the radar. So Walker's probably gets their share. Counterfeit, probably not. Walker's... also probably not. Somewhere in between, yeah.
I have two of them and I thought they were like walkie-talkies lol. Still helpful that they do what they do. Would have thought it was real cool if it also had a walkie-talkie feature.
They have an attachment that gives you one or you can make your own by taking a 3.5mm headset boom mic of good quality that you downwire into a bfuv9r radio you could get around 5 10 miles in city broacast/receive range as my uv9r detects my work from home and they detect me then if you get a 42 inch foldable antenna larger battery and learn how to use the nations repeater network you can probably get alot farther since theyre marketed as a handheld ham radio
Just remember to check your local laws regarding how youre supposed to broadcast on gmrs frs frequencies usually have to use low power (simple setting change in its menu)

I actually ordered myself of walkers razors patriotic set from Walmart online. I will let you know how they do.

Same problem with mine, also from Aliexpress: it does NOT CANCEL any noise at all. On the contrary, all sound are amplified. Indeed snapping the fingers is not a good test. I suppose that the microphones are inversely connected but I can not open the housings in order to check that. They promised to study the problem but after 4 months no response. and 25 Euro's lost.

Got some X-TRM digitals from amazon today for $70 and just saw this video. The headband is all rubber and has no soft cover like it should be. Amazon seems to also sell fakes. will be returning these.

It is only canceling loud noises like a gunshot. I think everything over 85 Dezibels.
