Today,April 20,2022 is 43 years that CBS aired the final episode before two extra weeks were put aside before GSN showed them in 2000.

I am very sure that Gene Rayburn knew that this was the final CBS episode. No mention was made because Mark Goodson made plans to syndicate the daytime version and drop the year designation to the show's title.
They recorded some more shows after this one: 16 shows were unaired on CBS.
In fact Carolyn Raiser, introduced in the last 2 minutes of this show, would go on the be the all-time MG champion on those unaired shows.

Gene says in Carolyn's intro that she had competed on the show before and lost, but was invited back because of a questionable judges' decision.
Ah yes, Carolyn Reisner won $32,600 on Match Game just before the end of the CBS run. She was the only contestant to retire undefeated.
There were some unaired episodes too, before the show went to syndication
in memory off gene, Richard, Brett , Charles, Bert, bobby, Bill, and all of you that made it all possible
