We all know what Trunks is. In Dragon Ball Super Chapter 88 Trunks makes very aggressive attempts at Mai. This was all part of his scheme as he was fighting crime with Goten. But apart from this, Trunks makes a lot of stupid decisions and mistakes throughout the chapter. Trunks truly is different from his future counterpart.

I’m very happy how Goten was presented in the first chapter, plus it was great to see him actually display a lot of wit and very quick thinking. He has a lot of similarities to his dad, but it’s also great to see him being way way smarter than Goku. And I think we’ll see Trunks display a lot more intelligence as the the arc goes on, hopefully we see Trunks tinkering with and fixing his and Goten’s wrist watches and also see him fixing the broken Capsule Corp helper robots with the Pilaf gang. Also considering Goten and Trunks are bored of the peace time, I think we’ll definitely see them training in this arc and focus a lot more on fighting individually and seeing them taking their training seriously along with them facing pretty strong villains or a pretty strong villain before the Cell Max fight happens. Also I bet you the new girl Rulah is actually gonna become Goten’s love interest/girlfriend in canon and I hope she actually does cause despite Rulah only being in one chapter so far, Rulah is already way better, way more likable, and way more interesting than Goten’s GT girlfriend. So it definitely would be a massive W for Goten if Rulah actually becomes his love interest/girlfriend in canon. Plus I definitely want Rulah to grow more as a character as well and her also becoming a active supporting character and I definitely would love to see Goten giving Rulah martial art lessons and lessons about Ki. Anyway really enjoyed this chapter, loving this arc so far, and I’m looking forward to Goten and Trunks growing and developing more individually as the arc progresses and hopefully Goten also develops leadership skills in this arc as part of his character development.

Well to be fair Goten took after Goku more than Gohan did, and Gohan got his intelligence from Goku.
So it makes sense that Gotens smart too, the problem with them both is that they won't use that intelligence for anything other than punching.

Well, the Ghost Kamikaze are Gotenks's ghost. He created them and thus he can do whatever with them and can control their actions. He's not scared of ghost that he made himself. It's literally his own technique.
Trunks wasn't scared of Goku when he came back from the other world because Trunks probably didn't know what ghosts were at the time and that he's probably heard stories about Goku from his parents and others. Besides, Trunks Also says it's not the same

@@QaamansLand I think I see what he means. Goten was confident and more willing to do things while Trunks acted foolish in almost every endeavor except that bike ride. Trunks lost that vegeta like pride he seemed to have in Z and even with Future Trunks.

I actually like Trunks taking on The Fool archetype. The Fool is the one who is usually shaped to be the next main character.
Maybe the ghost scare move conundrum is how Batman was scared of bats so therefore he dressed as a bat to strike fear into his enemies. Maybe trunks has always been scared of ghosts and figured when he was Gotenks that ghost could be used to fight buu

@@omardiaz9066 I mean you could argue maybe dying when he was 8 when kid Buu blew up the planet, where he himself was likely a ghost and concept of being dead gave him that trauma. Not that the after life as we know it is anything too dreaded of if you're not a villan so it's doubtful he's seen Hell or anything like that. But if you wana say his trauma stemmed from dying at a real young age himself gave him such a fear it's probably the only thing that holds any actual water besides being a cheap gag that came out of no where.

Think some people taking this "Trunks being scared of ghosts" a little too serious. Dragon Ball has always had this kind of ironic comedy, such as Goku despite being the most powerful person on the planet being afraid of needles.

Correctly if I'm wrong but if I remember correctly Mai pretty much says after Future Trunks leaves "I'll settle for you (kid Trunks) because in a few more years you'll be look more like him (future trunks)" or something along those lines. Idk it just seems really weird that Mai who's old than Bulma mentally is heavily implied to have some feelings for Teen Trunks just screams "grooming". Not trying to take it too serious because it isn't real life but it's a bit sus NGL.

People who complain about Trunks and Mai thing. Have you watched any vampire related anime or Inuyasha? Inuyasha has 300 plus year age gap on Kagome or Sesshomaru has about 900 year age gap on Rin who is his baby's mama. Wow, for every bit that took away from Trunks's Character, Goten's was actually really good. Goten seems much more well adjusted, show cased quick thinking, in numerous situations like covering for Trunks for his classmates, even calls out Trunks for some of his issues with ghosts with a point most fans would of used.
Also I think Trunks biking to Class might be more of a refence to the Buu Saga intros where Gohan was biking. Looking back for better or worse a lot of that was Call backs to that particular niche area of the series. Now will the series of chapters grow and become more of their own remains to be seen. Though I think there is a decent chance, maybe Trunks can redeem himself by the end in some way seeing as he seems to be the POV character and Goten just seems to be the wingman for now.
What about the simping
@@QaamansLand The simping is pretty bad. Guess it depends on the pay off by the end of it. Even though it is weird given Mai's actual history, she doesn't really seem to be all that invested in Trunks, like no real hint. So either she may do a pity date given all his efforts, or maybe turn him down for whatever reason.

On a real note, I'll just look at it like this. Obviously they're going for the scientists don't believe in supernatural ghost trope, and despite the Gotenks fact (which at the end of the day, Gotenks is still an entirely different person and you could even debate the Ghost part being apart of Goten's half), it kind of reminds me of the Goku being afraid of needles despite not being canon to the manga. Which is funny cause he himself has been impaled, beaten and even had ki blast that were like needles shoot right through his body. Pretty sure those segments are just meant to be all in good fun and not seen as something serious.
On the other hand I do like how Goten seems to be smarter and the voice of reason of the two. It makes sense too. Trunks wasn't like Future Trunks who actually took after his mother because Vegeta wasn't around. That and growing up with peace, it makes him want to train with his dad and seek adventure as well losing interests in things rather quickly. In contrast to Future Trunks who also wanted to be stronger, but wanted peace and actually helped and worked with his mother in the lab a lot. With Trunks having a disinterest for stuff and Goten who not only had a strict mother (although not as strict as with Gohan) and had a ton of interest with the stuff Trunks had. It makes sense to me that he actually had a lot more interest in technology and computers compared to him and thanks to Chi-Chi actually takes after his studies and as seen in this chapter, common logic, and quick thinking being put into play. With how much Trunks seemed to think he was better than Goten in his eyes, it's interesting to see how tables have turned here in that regard.

It’s kinda funny because I never really thought about the fact that Future Trunks was basically in a relationship with an elderly woman in a young body 😂 this chapter is what made me remember that Mai isn’t the age of the body she’s in, this was a good chapter tho, nice to have slice of life that focuses on Teen Goten and Trunks, hoping we get to see Super Saiyan teen Goten with his End of Z hairstyle

People really are making to much of a big deal about Trunks and Mai age difference. She only has memories of her older self but her body was regressed back to that of when she was younger which means her life span had been extended. She basically found the fountain of youth in the dragons balls wish. In a way it's no different then when people fan over vampire/human love where the vampire has lived for centuries prior to meeting their love. Mai lived her life single as a villian. Her getting wished into a kid again gave her a second chance for a new life this time allowing her to have learned from her mistakes in her past incarnation. Therefore, giving her redemption. Now what people really should be weirded out about is knowing Trunks is a time traveler who had the ability to go back to a point in time where he met Mai in her kid form, finding out she was infatuated with his older version, then he proceeds to going back into the future where we realize that her and Trunks were an thing. Trunks knew Mai would grow up to be hot so he made it his mission to woe her. That's grooming folks.
Well crap, I guess AF's Great Saiyaman 3 was right on the money with Goten carrying on the legacy...
Rulah is a new introduced character and she is one of Trunks' friends. Will she continue to play an important role of some kind in the future? Will she become Trunks' girlfriend after he registers that Mai is not interested in him? I'm not sure if Trunks really likes Rulah or not. If Mai doesn't like him, why is she going to the same school with him? The picture cover shows that she's wearing a school uniform. Maybe she and Rulah will become good or best friends.
I think everyone can agree that Future Trunks > Present Trunks

To be honest if I could fly I'd probably like to just ride a bike sometimes, and if I fought world ending monsters I don't think I'd give a shit about being late for class either so yeah Trunks biking to school doesn't bother me just like Goku driving a tractor doesn't.

I read the manga chapter a minute after it came out because I thought it was going to be good after 3 months, and the chapter was an ok one, but I also agree to why Trunks was sacred of ghost because it doesn’t make any sense to why he is scared.

I personally loved kid Mai and am upset that Super underused her before the window closed on her. This new chapters Mai is nice though a little to serious in personality compared to her smaller counterpart. I think they really made her too much like future Mai for her circumstances of her character. She doesn't even fit in with the Pilaf gang. Mind, you Kid Mai is my favorite Dragon Ball girl for how cute, eccentric, and pouty she was. They even changed her eye shape to make her look more serious. This chapter was a bitter pill to swallow man.

Never forget that this is a Japanese production writen for the Japanese youth - a Shounen manga. The reason is to teach and familiarize the JP youth with English words. Trunks is afraid of the usual scary interpretation of ghosts, not the kind you mention. Besides people often develop fear of things they didn't fear in their childhood. Many people love playing with insects/animals as kids but as adult, they fear them. The story is just humanising them but you are too blinded by your need to be nitpicky about everything to understand this.

I do like how Goten was quick on his feet, using things around him to preserve' Trunks identity. I could look past the ghost thing as an irrational phobia, and you could easily retcon Dr Briefs's stateent by saying: "He knew, just not trying to blow his grandsons cover".
But some things have to change. Tturnks not being smart is one of them. The fact that the grandchild of the smartest man ever, and the child of the smartest woman ever is not good with computers is something I can't fathom.
An easy dynamic Goten and Trunks could have is where Goten is smart in terms of the physical sense, being resourceful to get him and his friends out of a pinch, and Trunks being the academically smart planner. Basically, Trunks has the plan, and Goten does the patchwork if anything goes wrong with the plan.
Facts, I think it would also be great to see Trunks fixing his and Goten’s wrist watches as well as fixing the damaged Capsule Corp helper robots with the Pilaf gang. And also for Goten, I definitely would love to see him capitalize on his quick thinking just like you said, I think Goten going through different types of Martial arts training and also training in a Gravity chamber and working on his quick thinking for gravity chamber training would be really nice Goten’s character development. And another thing I definitely want for Goten and especially for Goten’s character development is Goten working on developing leadership skills so that way he grows way more individually as a character, he’s already got the wit and the quick thinking, so seeing Goten also develop leadership skills while also capitalizing on his quick thinking would definitely be very nice. And if Goten and Trunks are gonna face very strong villains in this arc before the Cell Max fight, I definitely want to see both Goten and Trunks display really great battle IQ and fighting skill with Goten using his quick thinking and adaptability and Trunks’s planning along with Goten leading Trunks this time and asking Trunks to make the plans.

this Manga chapter sounds really good, I heard some goodthings about it. I personally don't think trunks being afraid of ghost is stupid, it could be easily explained why it is not stupid. I don't quite understand your point about trunks saw vegeta and goku as ghost before. Because goku and vegeta never appeared as ghost when they came back to life, when goku and vegeta came back to life they came back to life as goku and vegeta. not as ghost.
You can say, yeah goku and vegeta are technically ghost. But the whole point is trunks was never scared of goku so once trunks see the appearance of goku no matter if goku is technically a ghost, goku didn't take on an appearance as a ghost. goku and vegeta never had any ghost characteristics about them. The example of characteristics of a ghost is gotenks ultimate move, the ghost kamikaze attack. which Is my next point.
you can say that gotenks is mostly dominant by trunks but last time I checked the first letters of gotenks started with "Go", "T" is not the first letter in gotenks. so what does that tell me is, as history show. gotenks is more dominant by goten. you can talk about the personality of gotenks, but the track records of fusions don't lie. now I maybe wrong on this one but correct me if I'm wrong. but to my knowledge a fused being is a different identity, meaning it is goten and trunks but at the same time it's not goten and trunks. it's a whole new character.
This is what I have always believed about fusion, since it is it's own identity. the two characters that fused is no longer there, so they don't have any memory after they had fused, only before they fused. I don't think I seen a piece of evidence that goku or vegeta recollect something that vegito or gogeta did. so if that's the case then trunks don't know anything about ghost kamikaze. this was a good video, merry Christmas and happy new year.
