Great explanation, I really look forward to learning all of this. I have tried to do so many different things career and work wise. I think this may be it. A while a go I worked for a start up company and I loved the freedom that the software engineers seemed to have. Not to mention the schedule. I thought that I would have to really go back to school to learn this and I am so excited to see that is not the case. I do have one question as I am attempting to keep up from my IPad Pro. Would it be best to just go out and invest in a laptop? If so which brand do you recommend? For the company I used to work for I know that they provided the engineers with a Mac book pro while at the company. Please keep up the great work.! As a POC this is excited and I can’t wait to see where this takes me.
Hi Ayesha! I really appreciate you, thank you 🙏🏿 If you’re interested in learning how to code, you definitely need a laptop. It doesn’t have to be expensive tho, so get one within your budget. The top of the line laptops are usually provided to you by whatever company you work for anyways. When i was teaching myself, back in 2016, I bought a refurbished Macbook Air, that i still use today. I don’t want to recommend a brand tho, because your budget is what matters most at this point. Hopefully that helps. Thank you for tuning in and subscribing to my channel!

Hi Kita. What are you looking at? Being a software engineer or software developer are the same thing, just depends on what the company decides to call the role. Those two titles are interchangeable.
@@rootstechnology That makes so much sense. I keep seeing people use the words interchangeably but I wasn't sure if it was correct to do that. I started taking "The Complete Web Development Bootcamp" by Angela Yu a about a month ago. It would definitely help to have a real life person to help me on this journey. Thank you, I will be binge watching your videos this week. I’m just now curious about this field and would like to change my career path. Do any of your customers end up getting jobs without having a degree? I’m currently going to school and have worked in the health care field (document coordinator) for 14 years. I would love to get my foot into the IT dept but I don’t have a degree yet. I’m hoping with a bootcamp under my belt and the fact that I’m going to school to obtain a degree, will help me get a job. 🤞🏾
Hi! Most of my students have degrees, but I wouldn’t let that discourage you from applying to coding jobs. You shouldn’t be leading with your degree anyways, you should be leading with your portfolio projects that prove you know how to code. That’s the main importance, so it’s best you keep the focus there. As long as you’re in school, you don’t need to mention anything about your enrollment status unless they ask. So, don’t let that distract you from your coding journey. Hope that helps. Thanks for tuning in and subscribing to my channel!
I was just interested in watching this video on what software engineer entails and this really intrigued me! What do I have do/start in order to start learning the basic skills in software engineering? What would you recommend?

Hi! Sorry for the late response. Is that Bin Info not being there affecting you writing code? What problem are you trying to solve for? I ask that so I can better understand what issue you're dealing with, because the Bin Info doesn't contain any information that you need.
@@rootstechnology I have the same issue. I tried to download my page after the tutorial was done by clicking file -> download, since bin info wasn't available and an error message popped up and all my info was erased.
Are you signed in? You may have to sign up/in and try it that way. Otherwise, the issue you're trying to figure out is beyond the scope of the tutorial and would require more hands-on guidance. But here's high level what you need: create a folder on your Desktop called "sample-project" or whatever you want, then create an "index.html" file in that folder and put your HTML code there. After that, create a "styles.css" file in that same folder and put your CSS code in there. Then, look up how to connect an external CSS file to your HTML. Finally, you can double click on the HTML file to open it in your browser. To edit the code, you'll need a text editor, check out Sublime Text. But like I mentioned, all of this is beyond the scope of the tutorial so you may need more help with these tools and I can't offer that over UA-cam comments. If you're interested in having me teach you how to code, check out my coding program, www.ROOTsTechnology.info
Hey Edwin! I'm glad you're working through this tutorial and learning a long the way. Unfortunately, I can't help you without seeing the code you're writing so I'd know what you need to change. I don't do code reviews over UA-cam, but if you'd like to set up a video call for me to review your code with you, use the Contact Me at www.ROOTsTechnology.info to get in touch with me. In the meantime, make sure the url for the image you're using has a ".png or .jpeg or .jpg" at the end of it. And, Google the IMG tag to learn more about how to use it. Hope that helps. Thanks for tuning in and subscribing to my channel!
Is web dev considered “software” engineering? I always thought it dwelled with c# c+ Java the high level coding that’s way more complicated than web development syntax. I’m an aspiring developer and reviewing the basics here thanks for the easy to understand content 🙂
Hi! Web development refers to building websites and applications for the web, but not all applications are built for the web, so software engineering is more inclusive of those types of applications. I'm glad my tutorials are helping on your journey! Thanks for tuning in and subscribing to my channel!
Hi Marshawn! How long? That depends on you, really. How much time can you commit to studying, how quickly do you understand the material, do you have a mentor/tutor to help you whenever you get stuck? etc. Those are all the factors that determine how long it'll take you. If you're interested in a heavily project-based program with me as your mentor, check out my Coding & Career Prep Program: rootstechnology.info/
Hey, thank you for all you do and all the content you are making. You really have me wanting to pursue a career as a software engineer. I was trying the tutorial in the video but when I put the code in for the image nothing pops up on the output. Do you know the reason for this?
Hey Jordan, I'm glad this video inspired you! So, I can't really help you without seeing the code you're writing and I don't do code reviews on UA-cam. Try and make sure you go over the code in the video and see you're doing it the same. Then, Google the "img" tag for you to learn more about how it works and hopefully that helps. Also, make sure the link for the image you're pointing too, ends in a file type (.jpg, .png, etc) Otherwise, if you want more help, you'll have to schedule a video call with me at www.ROOTsTechnology.info Thank you for tuning in and subscribing to my channel!

I dont know why my is bigger than what you have on your screen
Hi Kasmene. Maybe your P element has a different font-size on it that the browser gives it than mine. You'll need to watch the CSS tutorial and Inspect Element tutorial to help you figure that out. Here's the rest of my Coding Tutorials playlist to help you with that: ua-cam.com/video/gskko9DggXs/v-deo.html

Mine does not have a "Bin Info" at the bottom right corner. Can you advise on this TJ? Thanks
If you're interested in having me teach you how to code, check out my coding program, www.ROOTsTechnology.info
everything runs smoothly for me until i get to the image part, the image wont show on the output part of the screen any suggestions anyone

@@rootstechnology thank you sir for the clear understanding
That hit the spot
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
How long will it take 2 learn how 2 be a software engineer?
Also, make sure the link for the image you're pointing too, ends in a file type (.jpg, .png, etc)
Otherwise, if you want more help, you'll have to schedule a video call with me at www.ROOTsTechnology.info

@@rootstechnology Bet, I really appreciate the response. I’m saving up to purchase your course as we speak. Talk to you soon
That’s awesome! Like your drive and initiative, looking forward to having you as a student!
I used to code started in 2006 I had so many problems I had to quit school I was 25 now I'm about to be41 and I kick myself in the azzz
No, it's not you, Computer Science programs are hard. But, you don't have to kick yourself though, it's not too late to learn and try to make a career pivot, I'm sure the things you learned back then will help you pick up where you left off a long time ago, almost like riding a bike.

@@rootstechnology you know you're absolutely right.. back then I was learning while technically alot of the code was difficult to remember.. but now I've been looking at recent UA-cam videos and css is getting easy.. you're so right, I got time and it code motivate me to begin again.
@@rootstechnology actually your videos help me to notice how much it's changed and how easily it can be done.
So a software engineer is just an expert google searcher ?
Ha! Pretty much! Knowing how to Google will be about 40% of your job as a software engineer, but you have to understand how code works in order to sift through the different search results. But yeah, you hit the nail on the head, Jonathan lol
