Thanks for all the comments here,I'll look at more reviews now before making final decision. I have a old polaris mapping unit that I love and still use (8-9 yrs old now and still working) I'm looking to upgrade to the full headunit, as far as glare, in all fairness even the original head unit has that problem, I drive multiple vehicles in my field of work and it seems to be a common problem. I think it more a case of the angel they are mounted at in the dash. And GPS will always drop out in tunnels if they are long or go deep enough into the ground,
Yes the main problem in the Patrol is the dash where the unit is is very flat would be nice if it was tilted up a bit would help, also I do think they could have used a better screen to view in daylight smartphones are better. On another note since I went back to Polaris in that video and they worked on it has been no more problems.
Thanks for the review Carl. Even though you didn't buy the unit or have the unit fitted by us, we still have bent over backwards to help you with the "issue" you were having & it turned out to be an issue with the way you wired it up as explained by our tech on the day you came to see us. I can guarantee if you go with another brand of head unit you won't get this kind of after sales service which is something we pride ourselves on. Also if you had come to us directly we would have explained that there were 2 types of units available to fit the Patrol.
Yes in hindsight that would have been a better alternative, going to a dealer I had used before was a mistake he gave me bad advice. Problem was at the time I did not know what to choose so that is why I went that way, should have done more research! And the connection, after a phone call to you whoever I spoke to advised to connect they way I did! As far as they after sales service it is second to none I must say now some time has passed.
Also as a final thought let me say after taking a 3000 Km trip the unit still is not without some software issues still the original fault albeit now somewhat minor
Dont bother with the bigger screen I have it in my cruiser 80 amd it has same problems as yours drops out all the time, not as bad as it was because i had a soft wear update but the mic on it is crap people cant hear me speak on it. A mate of mine hated it so much he put his pioneer 1 back in less then half the price and a lot clearer.Is it worth the $900 there asking no i dont think so. My opion is get somethink else
interesting as they were saying was my fault even though I connected as I was told after calling the tech and was told by reseller there quality was A1
@@travelandadventurewith4x4 yeah it wasnt your fault mate just trying to make excuses for there faulty product. Also went into a another supplier in qld and they put 1 in there car and they were not happy with it as well,so its not just us
Driving through tunnels will cause your unit to loose gps . Not rocket science.. Why is it always someone elses problem. My opinion... You will never find a unit that will not have some kind of glair.. Did you end up going with a different unit and if so is it any better.

what a load of crap I had mine done by a electricain and im having the same issues. So your argument dosent stand

No still have the Polaris and works OK now except I dodge motorway tunnels in case it plays up again could not handle that again!
