What more than half the country was not thinking about. Should abortions be allowed in all the states? Should everyone be required to call people by their pronouns? Should men be allowed to participate in women’s sports? No one in this country needs a celebrity to tell them what is important or a degree to figure it out.
“It’s the economy stupid” - it is as true today as it was when it was first coined 32 years ago. The only election where it’s bucked the trend in terms of the economic argument not winning out I think (correct me if I’m wrong) is 2000, and even then it was the tightest election anyone has seen in living memory.

Everyone's trying to over-analyze this election when it was very simple: most people weren't satisfied with the economy and voted against the party they hired to do that job 4 years ago. All of these "dog ate my homework" type excuses are making the mistake of assuming most voters spend as much time thinking about politics as MSNBC analysts, which they don't. The question they ask themselves every 2 -4 years is quite simple: "Am I better off than I was?" If the answer is no, the ruling party will be voted out, and no excuses will change that. The time to worry about your position in an election is not right before the election, but while policies are being implemented. The problem was, too many Democrats don't like hearing any criticism of their party. Whenever I criticized Biden's economic policies on the MSNBC comments, I received hostile replies and accusations that I was a "Trump supporter" (I'm not and never have been).
Objectively, we were better off than we were 4 years ago by every major metric. What you described was pure personal feelings that is more about self affirmation than the economy or immigration. The problem with the question of are we better off is, we don't have the ability to compare what life would be like under Trump the past 4 years. The US is not in a vacuum. “It’s the economy stupid” - it is as true today as it was when it was first coined 32 years ago. The only election where it’s bucked the trend in terms of the economic argument not winning out I think (correct me if I’m wrong) is 2000, and even then it was the tightest election anyone has seen in living memory.

Everyone's trying to over-analyze this election when it was very simple: most people weren't satisfied with the economy and voted against the party they hired to do that job 4 years ago. All of these "dog ate my homework" type excuses are making the mistake of assuming most voters spend as much time thinking about politics as MSNBC analysts, which they don't. The question they ask themselves every 2 -4 years is quite simple: "Am I better off than I was?" If the answer is no, the ruling party will be voted out, and no excuses will change that.
The time to worry about your position in an election is not right before the election, but while policies are being implemented. The problem was, too many Democrats don't like hearing any criticism of their party. Whenever I criticized Biden's economic policies on the MSNBC comments, I received hostile replies and accusations that I was a "Trump supporter" (I'm not and never have been).
Objectively, we were better off than we were 4 years ago by every major metric. What you described was pure personal feelings that is more about self affirmation than the economy or immigration. There’s this weird idea that Trump is going to make a utopian country when he didn’t do that last time. Did people forget he blamed everyone else for his failures and took 100% credit for all his successes
The problem with the question of are we better off is, we don't have the ability to compare what life would be like under Trump the past 4 years. The US is not in a vacuum. The entire world was worse off the past 4 years, and the US outperformed compared to that. We can see this in that every single incumbent government lost during this election season. I accept that better off 4 years ago is a really easy message to spread, but for me, that is not a good enough view into what's going on.

Knowledge doesn't just come from college like it's the only source. There have been things call libraries for decades and now there is a vast amount on the internet. Intelligence is the ability to reason and think abstractly, at least in my opinion.
