This is the "BEST" home/yard make over that is affordable and your children help out the entire time! Yes, it was a lot of work but you did it!!! Do not ever let anyone tell you that you cannot do something when you accomplished this "on your own" without professional help! The end result is clearly a transformation & make-over, but you don't mention a lot about how you fit the puzzle together.

Your kids will treasure and enjoy “their” pool area because they EACH put a little of themselves into it, this comes to show that real parenting still exists, without having to throw a cellphone or game console in-front of them. This backyard project will allow your kids to create memories that 30,40 years from now , will have them laughing and talking about !

This is how my family did things when I was growing up. My mom was divorced and raised us on a very limited budget. We worked together and she proved that taking care of and appreciating what you have is a great way to be happy. The satisfaction of working magic like this family did is priceless. Love between family and friends is the true meaning of happiness and nothing in this world can beat it.

I watched all 3 videos and was mesmerized. I was really rooting for you all the way. I *love* pressure washing. It's not like doing laundry or the dishes every 10 minutes. You do it once and it's amazing how much better everything looks immediately.LOVED what you accomplished. LOVED that you had kids involved. As an ex teacher & mom I'll add that you've given them another "room" to hang out in especially during this pandemic. Great job ! I''ll add one bit of advice though: Buy some sand bag weights for the tent. If you leave that tent up for days & weeks ( they say we're not supposed to do that but oh well...) one good wind will move it. Trust me on this. It could go flying as our first one did even though we had it zip tied to the deck. GREAT JOB!

I love the natural slate wall, look.for hens n chickens, it's a succulent and can just be stuffed into cracks and give the wall a beautiful lived in look. Really nice looks a lot different, an idea, they sell in lows weed killer is an spray that you can use to keep the retaining wall free of weed, you just spray it, it will keep the weed from getting to your already clean wall, just make sure to not get it into the flowers it will kill them, it will not harm the tree tho, really cool, nice work, make me remember went I use to help my grandma. ✌️✌️👍👍👍👍❤️
Great idea! I would like to suggest an alternative to store bought weed killer spray. Believe it or not, vinegar and water sprayed on the retaining wall will also work...with less toxicity.

Better than the chemical sprays and pesticides, you could try dishwashing liquid, vinegar or something less likely to burt the kids. I pull mine, but that gets on my nerves. Because the lawn guy keeps turning the blower that way. Smh!!! I lease a studio apartment for which the landlord lives above me. So, I just chill and consider it exercise. LOL

All I can say is Wow!!! great job even the kids helped with everything .looks so nice. I know that was a lot of hard work. that was a great power washer it cleaned that wall good and the steps. You did a great job of decorating and I love that table an the place setting and the chairs were awesome. It looks like the kids are having fun in the pool. Hi Shyvonne, You showed up on my feed & I just watched your backyard transformation. You & the kids did an amazing job. We do all our home projects ourselves too - helps teach the kids what you can do with your own hands. Looks like a really relaxing place for you all to enjoy. You should think about adding some weights to each of the poles on the canopy. It will help keep it down should it get windy.
Water weights
I have many years experience with tents and some tricks of the trade. If you get four 5 gallon buckets with lids, you can fill them with water and it's easy to empty the weights without leaving sand everywhere. I find that now and then people will also sit on them while standing by to enjoy the fun. Ratchet straps directly attached to the top of the tent frame and hanging down to attach to a bucket on each corner, will give you the best stability. Don't count on just grabbing your tent if the wind kicks up. I've had more than one lift off and land in a heap elsewhere. You've done such a nice job, protecting it should be fairly cost effective.

I watched all three parts of this DIY Backyard Makeover. You know, I see a lot of makeovers that show only the before, some parts of the makeover, and then the after. It’s like it happens by magic. But yours is different. The time lapse shows how much work, time, thought, planning, care, and energy you put into it. I especially loved that your kids were in on the action (I think the power washer was their favorite-mine, too!). Regarding color scheme, how inviting! Green for plants, yellow for the sunshine, and blue for the sky. All three colors echoed the entire backyard. This was truly a pleasure to watch. Brava! 👏 👏 👏

I would worry a little bit about those white pipes coming out of the house. It’s so close to the chair and looks like it vents out right towards the pool. I think I would make that vent straight up so it doesn’t vent out into your living space. If I’m right I think that’s for furnace which you probably don’t have to worry about in the summer anyway but if the kids play out there in the winter you may want to change that.

One of my fondest memories as a child was when my mom would spray us with the hose while in our bathing suits. So I JUST KNOW they love that pool. So blessed🥰🥰🥰 Y’all did such an amazing job.

That was a major transformation of your backyard space! It was wonderful to see your family team work together. I’m sure the kids will remember it forever and be proud of their accomplishment. The rock wall is a beautiful part of the room. How nice to be able to spend time on the patio. Your color pallet and decor was very nice. The cinder blocks storage area was a great idea and you managed everything on a budget.When you show the work in time lapse it seems to go really fast. How many days did you actually spend doing it?
