It's called a loop buffer. It is shown as full, but if the label roll is empty and needs to be changed, the rollers move closer together, so the machine is still getting fed. When the change is finished, the buffer fills up again. The more rollers and loops, the longer the machine can keep running without a label roll and therefore there is more time to change it and splice it.
@@vinnynocentino1980 Yes, that's right. There is no automatic splice for this, as far as I know. It wouldn't be much use anyway, since the label roll will have to be renewed anyway. But there is this add-on called a "Multireel" which contains up to 8 (I think) rolls which are then spliced automatically. Btw let me just clarify I am not speaking in any kind of official capacity here.
