    Hi Richard, the only thing that would have been awesome is if aem, snow or one of the other water/methanol injection companies hooked you up with a 8 injector or throttle body plate injection system so you could show that those gains were primarily charge cooling on the injected application of the tunnel ram.

    Increased atomization with the carbs on high ram is a huge deal one of the reasons turbo charging works so well. Would be cool to see how hillborn injection stacks would of worked on that stroker.

    I was thinking about how old-school jet boats are trending again. How about a typical 500-650 hp BBC or small block and compare different brands of old and new tunnel rams and dual-plane intakes that are used on boats that typically spin between 3500-5500 rpm. If there's a low-end to mid-range rpm tunnel ram I'd like to see it.

    That setup is similar to my dream street strip big single turbo build with no budget. I picked up a 2008 3valve mustang which is something I would never do I've always liked how they look but they ain't very cheap and I don't know as much as I should about the platform I've had a turbo is sn95 and fix body but they where way more strip than street and I have a 2000 Z28 small tire stock suspension car grudge race track of street and I run some N\T stuff and no prep stuff on and off the past two years and it gets most of my money just to keep it ready to party but I have been wanting a quick reliable street car that's actually nice and comfortable for a while now. my pawpaws buddy bought the mustang new and besides a k&n filter it's bone stock and in amazing shape it still looks new inside and out and under the hood & every where else with 73 sumthin thousand miles sonic blue paint I got the deal of the century on it paid 4500 bucks for it! The little 4.6 surprised me even though it's a automatic trans so it got me wondering how fast I can go before kick in the rods out of it full weight like I would drive it on the street before I throw the nice little aluminum 5.3 with rods pistons and PRC cc'd 225's and forced inductions 85mm t6 1.32 exhaust housing and th400 with a holley terminator setup. Id like to see if the sbe 4.6 will go 6.50s in the eighth with the trans it has I'm not trying to buy a Ford pattern bellhousing for my th400 I'll never use again unless coyote stuff gets cheaper lol the car is getting several suspension parts from bmr and team z and some strange double adjustables they are my go to sbhock, I've picked up a on3 single kit for the car it's complete besides the turbo and waste gate I'm gonna have to have a t6 flange welded on and I'm going to run a 60mms gate I already have a billet wheel s475 with a 96mm turbine and 1.15 56 housing I'm gonna use I really want to do a CAME deal with some mild turbo grinds but I just can't justify spending almost $2000 for the cams and all the other parts I feel need to be upgraded valve train wise I will probably just put some Pac valve springs in it because I'm not gonna turn it more than 6500rpm if it will make around 520whp and stay together and get a good converter so I can build a few pounds of boost foot braking it and on e85 or e90 it should run down in the 6's and mph pretty good if the od style Ford trans a lot of guys run in fast street cars aint super expensive I will go that route I think they are called 4r70's I'm not a big Ford guy but I know you can get a manual valve body and trans brake for those and a lot more converter options which ever I end up with it will be a ptc Dusty Bradford. I've been wanting to try something different so I'm gonna give it a shot lol I just don't want to spend 6000 dollars on a hand grenade that can go any time I haven't seen any boosted stock 3v 4.6s make much over 500 and from what I've read they don't last but I've already got the turbo kit a jegs brand sheet metal intake (not installed yet) that is supposed to bolt right up and use all the factory stuff and I'm gonna use the Bosch 210s I already have that intake makes less power bellow 4000rpm and supposed to make 13 more hp above that and says it will make power up to 7000+rpm I'm gonna try and run it like sbe gen3 ls stuff and try to keep the tourqe down in the lower rpms idk I will find out what happens in the next month or two lol but there is still light at the end of the tunnel I have a aluminum 5.3 and turbo that will make 1100whp and a nice th400! I just know I'm fixing to have to open up my wallet! LoL

    You see the power difference you get from just the charge cooling from the carburetor.
    Please please please test cool can.
    You can do with just regular ice water and you can do with dry ice and ethanol which will be extremely cold
    Because of the vaporization of the carburetor, it will still have charge cooling on top of the extra coldness.

      Port efi when you want more precision, carb or tbi when you want a little more power. Probably the best set up would involve port efi for start up, idle and cruising and then adding in injectors just downstream of the throttle body to cool the charge on manifold designed to be "wet" but this is a lot of added cost and complexity/tuning for a relatively small power gain (only about 20hp on a 700hp engine).

      It's not really necessary to test. In this video they tested efi vs carburetors on the same intake. tbi is going to be very similar to a carb(s). Again, venturi on a properly sized carb cost negligible hp relative to efi. So long as carbs are "big enough" a comparable efi tb without venturi doesn't do much, if anything. In other words, if an engine at a particular power only needs, say, 800cfm then putting a 1500cfm tb on it isn't going to do much, if anything.

    All major engine builders all agree carburetion makes more horsepower than fuel injection, it has always been the case even with advancements in fuel injection technology. Die hard fuel injection guys always down talk carburetors, mainly because they have no clue on how to tune them. Fuel injection gives better drive ability, and increased tuning options for all RPM ranges, easier to fine tune specific areas. Head flow is most likely the increase in power with the ls7 heads, as they are the most critical in making power as for top end parts go. It’s always the combination of parts, and when matched correctly throughout for a total package is the key. Good video.

    • @177SCmaro
      @177SCmaro 2 роки тому +1

      It's not so much efi is arguing "it's better" it's more "we like the list of trade-offs efi gives us". If the budget is avalable I will usually trade a little power for absolute, rapid, automatic control over fuel and timing at every rpm and load. And I say this as a guy who's got both carbed and efi cars.
      That said, efi can make you lazy since, once you get it set up and figured out it's so easy. I just grab a laptop for my efi car. I need half a toolbox full of carb parts to really dial in carbs to a knife edge and still they're usually compromised in one area at the benefit of another.

    • @PistonAvatarGuy
      @PistonAvatarGuy 2 роки тому +1

      "carburetion makes more horsepower than fuel injection"
      Nah, you can get the same charge cooling effect with ITBs and injectors placed above the velocity stack, that's why you'll see staged injection systems on some really high-end performance engines (Kawasaki H2, for example). F1 engines and Top Fuel engines also inject their fuel high in the intake stream in order to achieve this effect.

If the car wasn't traction limited already I would think better 60ft off the line with the preswap but better mph with the after. I usually shoot for the former rather than the latter if I can adjust suspension to fit. Am I way off here? Trying to learn.

    Ls7 heads over the ls3 heads on the same bore will make 30-40 more hp. It's definitely the ls7 heads. I've seen C6 z06 guys afraid of dropping a valve again will go down from their 600 rwhp hci ls7 to ls3 heads and make 550-560 rwhp. The ls7 heads really do make that much more power than an ls3 head.

    I think the answer to your questions is. yes.
    In all seriousness though, I am not so sure it was the charge cooling that netted you more HO on the top change. I think it was more the fact the air is not changing direction as it enters the runners from the plenum. Maybe even better distribution to the cylinders also. I cannot believe the airflow is not as prevalent at the rear cylinders vs. the front cylinders. Uneven power will effect the efficiency in a negative fashion. Would love to know if that theory holds any water. Fun stuff, Richard. Thanks

      Not going to doubt you with less money and headaches to a naturally aspirated coyote 5.2 will need to turn 9200rpm to do so so I'm thinking it better be put together right using the most expensive highest quality parts available to do so and even then it will not touch these torque numbers these engines are making better off with the Ford new gas 7.3 truck motor it will be much more simple more cost effective and make way more torque than a 5.2 coyote but your entitled to your opinion and it will be more reliable and last longer than these engines the 5.2 coyote will be turning 9200rpm and the engines in the video turn 7200rpm think about it logically even if you made this kind of power with a 5.2 coyote engine it would be a edgy engine and wouldn't last very long and would wear out quickly turning this kind of rpm
