  • After our morning in Torridon, it was time to make the final drive north west towards Durness for the last leg of our Scotland trip. Our route via the North Coast 500 passes through some of the most stunning scenery in Scotland, including the magnificent mountains of Assynt. We made a few stops on our way to photograph some of these scenes, including Star Pollaidh and Suilven, some of the most beautiful mountains in the United Kingdom.

Great video Sam. 2 of my favourite mountains. Long, long time since I climbed Suilven. Must get back up to Assynt.

Mine too Alan! I always seem to be passing through Assynt on my way up north and never lingering for long enough, one day I will just grab the tent and spend a few nights there. I hope you can make it up there once this is all over. S

Lovely video Sam and well do for literally 'immersing' yourself in the environment :-)

Oh, ha ha Ian! 🙄 😄 I kind of wish Hannah had been filming me when I went in, I rivalled Darren knight for ‘falling into ditch in style’ 🙂

@@BosePhotography Haha, indeed I think that manoeuvre is indeed now know as 'doing a Darren' in photography circles!

You are looking like a weather forecaster in front of a green screen at the end there and I'm sure I stood on the very same blades of grass for your last shot too! Though i never got those reflections! That's one great day's photography.

Haha, I just looked back at it and you're absolutely right! I was there, it's not a green screen, honest! What a stunning spot, we knew we'd be around Lochinver for sunset so after abandoning Ardvreck (way too many people that day) I had a quick look on google maps for a spot that might be suitable and it turned out pretty well! We couldn't have wished for better conditions really, what a day it was! S.

Harris, Torridon & now Assynt, that is just rubbing it in Mr Bose...lol. Years ago I recall seeing an image of someone camping on the top of Suilven with an inversion below them - ever since I have had a fascination for that lump of Torridonian sandstone. Have never been to rthe NW part of Scotland and sadly my days of climbing hills seem to be behind me but I would lve to photograph it and that lochan you was at looked a perfect location. Loved the image at 6:42 but like most on your Scottish series I would be very happy to come away with any of them! Atb Al

It has always held a fascination for me Suilven, such an impressive and slightly bizarrely shaped mountain standing on it's own up there. I remember driving past it many times when I was a child and being awed by it. Luckily, the place I photographed it from is easily accessible, just don't go falling into the bog like I did! S.

Yes absolutely, I couldn't believe how lucky we were! Lochinver is known for its midges but we were there in September so we missed the worst of them! S.

Beautiful images Sam, you consistently produce photographs of a very high standard, easily equal to the best UA-camrs out there!

    • @BosePhotography
      @BosePhotography  3 роки тому

Wow, thank you very much Simon, that is quite a compliment and hugely appreciated! It is largely thanks to other photographers on UA-cam that I was inspired to take up photography in the first place a few years ago so that really means a lot. Thank you for watching! Sam.

Great Vlog, wonderful location, brilliant subjects, I think we agonise over light sometimes and your first "midday" image is proof of "just take the shot" then wait. Thanks

Great shot of Suilven. A few years ago I stayed at a Loch side cottage in Lochinver, amazing scenery all the way up the North West route to Durness.

Thank you Russ! It's a stunning part of the world. I hadn't realised you have been to Durness, I have probably mentioned it before (apologies if so!) but I am originally from Durness so this landscape is really home for me. Sadly I moved when I was 14 so long before I took up photography, but I still try to make it up there as often as I can! Sam.

Superb images, just fantastic light and the scenery to die for, I was up there last year and got some amazing images, sadly this year has been non existent and at times travelling unadvised which is understandable , look forward to the next video, regards, Colin.

    • @BosePhotography

Hi Colin, thank you very much for your comment! As you say, the scenery there really is to die for, it's like being on a different planet at times. Such an awe inspiring place. We were very lucky to make it up there this year in the brief window when travel was possible, but we were extremely cautious. Let's hope things improve next year, and if so, we'll hopefully all be able to make it there again under better circumstances. Sam

Great video Sam, maybe you could have got a good shot of Sullivan with some light on it if you hadn't used the dreaded triod

    • @BosePhotography

Haha, thanks Stuart! I think perhaps the main issue was the time spent faffing around filming myself walking down to the loch! I did think I had more time though, it was a long time before sunset! S.
