I attached mine to my lanyard. Which was a lot nicer than my writst. Apparently, they just had to see the yellow wristband.

I have that wagon, got from Costco. Honestly it is so amazing. It's basically an improvesstroller for a toddler who doesnt want to walk all the time. The added benefit is you can also fit a lot of stuff in it. We use it all the time. Although yeah not sure I would bring it to a big convention though...

If you’re aware of the space it takes up you’re good. It’s crowded and people don’t always look down. It could be a tripping hazard if you aren’t careful.

I didn't attend but having to wear the bracelet for more than 1 day at a time sounds a bit much to me too. Good to know in case they do that at other cons. Thanks for sharing these things you didn't like!

I saw that they banned carrying the boardgame backpacks at Essen Spiel. Only small roller suitcases seem to be allowed

Yes that was probably my biggest concern was that there didn't seem to be anything specific as far as releases go. That was the reason for my decision to not go this year. It didn't seem like there were a lot of games coming out this year that I personally were interested in

You could take off your wristband, but then you had to get a new one by standing in line again.

Yeah those wagons are the new strollers, I've noticed. My kids are past the age for strollers but when I see those wagons I wonder if they would have been easier or not. No idea.

All your reasons were 100% legitimate. Having to wear that stupid vaccine band to bed and shower sucked. Another thing I would add is no FREE tables in the gaming hall for people who just bought games to sit and play at. I don't care if other areas of con had places to play at there should always be an area right next to the area where you buy stuff!

Rob, next time do what I did, I wrapped my covid proof of vaccination around my strap that holds my badge, that way the badge and and proof of vaccination is right together, I am like you, i hate those wrist bands, but putting it around my badge strap took care of that.

I don't attend conventions for every bit of your five reasons plus a few more reasons. It is nice though that content providers like yourself will "go in" and give us the gist of the conventions. However, I would consider going to Uranus Fudge Co. I live close to a Target and didn't know, until your videos, that they have gotten so involved in board games. I guess I need to get out more.

Apparently I was the only person who went to Gen Con and never once thought about the wristband other than when I was taking a shower. Huh.
I spent the entire con being bothered by my mask, not because of my ears (I had masks that wrapped all the way around my head instead of hooking on the ears) but because of my glasses. I don't think I ever went more than a half hour being able to see without spending at least five minutes adjusting the metal clasp on the top of the mask. Real annoying to not be able to laugh too hard at any of the shows I attended because I'd be fiddling with my mask for the next five minutes and not focusing on the show (and I saw a lot of shows).
Still went along with it happily, though, since the alternative to "wearing a mask at Gen Con" would have been "staying at home all week", not "not wearing a mask at Gen Con". I suppose that would have been fine for you, though, since it would help with the crowds issue.
I don't know if we'll ever see any (or at least as many) true Gen Con exclusive releases anymore, now that publishers and gamers have almost completely moved away from the "wait until a game actually exists to buy it" model to generate hype in favor of Kickstarter.

I am still wearing my Gen-Con vaccination wristband, so certainly I agree with you that it was no big deal, haha. I used to be annoyed by masks but ever since I found out that KN-95s are actually comfortable I have had smooth sailing when masking is required.

i would never bring one of those wagons to a con lol, i love mine though, mines mostly for going to my kids baseball games and such. It's not meant for tight packed in places like cons.

Gamer BO is one of the worst things about this and video gamer hobby. I seriously dont understand why its an issue and why the people who have these hobbies can take 15 minutes to take a shower when they sit around for hours on end playing games. You cant tell me you cant smell yourself when it is that pungent.

Preach!!! What cofuses me is that they can learn a game with a 50 page rulebook or beat a complex video game with a 16+ button controller, but they can figure out how to remove the cap on a stick of deodorant. 🤣

When I used to play MtG some tourneys got pretty sweaty but we all smelled together so I got used to it. It can't be helped when you put a bunch of people in a hot, small room. Deodorants are a scam and pray on people's insecurities. Sweat + deodorant doesn't smell any better than just sweat. Shower is the only answer.

I agree about the water, backpacks/wagons, and the exclusives. I wear a watch everyday so the wristband didn’t bother me. I respectfully disagree about the masks. I work as a therapist in a rehab hospital where I have worked with people just getting out of ICU from Covid. So I was happy about the masks. But I also respect how people feel who don’t have to wear a mask everyday and how it can be bothersome. I have had to wear a mask since day one, and I am still required to wear one while at work. Crowds don’t bother me because I’ve never been allowed to socially distance at work. Thanks for all the videos you do. Now I have to go watch more TMB videos to learn how to play the new gearlocs I bought at GenCon.

I disagree with the mask thing, not a problem for me. The water stations, I never used them so I can't answer to that but I have used them at past gencon's and agree cold water better than warm. I just carried a water bottle on my belt that I filled up in the hotel room with bottled water before I left ( I was in the westin so its just a five minute trip to and from the room :) ) However the huge boardgame backpack thing I agree with. I have one as well and just used it to carry games to and from my car to the room and to a math trade I participated in. I was in line at one point and the guy in front of me had one on and I asked him if it was comfortable to wear (since I had never used mine as a backpack before) he said no that it digs into his shoulders and over time hurts his back but it allowed his hands to be free and carry more stuff. I would never do it but to each his own I guess.

I did say in the video that I am all for prevention of the spread of COVID using masks. That still didn't change the fact that the con was less enjoyable to me because we all had masks on. Wearing one for 14-16 hours each day sucked! Especially with the heat and my asthma. Thankfully I didn't get COVID there. I'm very glad I had all my COVID shots and boosters! 🥳

    • @RobsGamingTable
      @RobsGamingTable  Рік тому +1
