I've lived close to both Chicago and Seattle, and they are really different (except for traffic lol pretty similar). When quarantine is behind us, I highly recommend taking a trip along the Olympic Peninsula all the way down to the Hoh Rain Forest. Really breathtaking! You are so right about the cost of living! Most of Washington State is crazy expensive, but especially the Seattle area. As far as food, Western Washington specializes in mainly ethnic, seafood and burgers it seems. Keep looking. There is some great affordable food mostly in smaller ethnic places. Hang in there. You'll find some gems! :)
