Her comment at the end about “what 23 year old doesn’t have people over when their parent is away” speaks volumes about her. Not all kids do this especially when raised right. It’s like she’s agreeing to what he did
Agreed. Also...23 isn't a kid. That's well past the age where you should be wilding and well into the age where you should be starting your career. It's representative of one of our bigger issues as a society. This sense that "childhood" gets longer and longer with each year.
Sounds like the apple doesn't fall far from the tree and obviously the son didn't fall far from his mom. The defendant was cool calm and collected and had his sheet together.
Of course not.....she doesn't hold herself accountable for raising a jailbird, so that's the best she can do to set the example for her son. I'm willing to bet $4 that his criminal behavior is intertwined with addiction struggles. She probably handed him his first cigarette. Well, the second one. The first one was the one he stole from her pack, and she rewarded that behavior by buying him his first pack.
It doesn't matter if he replaced the carpet when people leave, he doesn't have to, it doesn't mean his property should be damaged. He could remodel and gut the whole place, it doesn't mean he's not entitled to damages.
Absolutely, but if I had a tenant who went on vacation, let her grown son live there in violation of the lease, had the son get the police called to the property on (at least) FIVE of the seven days mom was gone, and then had this lady complain about the security deposit? I'd be salty too.
The Plaintiff is an enabler, and she knows that her son is a criminal, and she just looks the other way. She thought that was going get a windfall because of the hurricane, and I wouldn't be surprised if she already had another vacation planned for the deposit that she thought she was getting back, after her son's damage.
There was a tenant in my apartment complex who was given the choice to leave or be evicted because the property manager observed her son selling drugs on the property. Sometimes he would hear me come out my door and he'd offer me things he was selling. One time, he had several sheets of car inspection stickers that had to be stolen.
He said “we replace carpets when tenants leave” and refers to the cost per unit. He didn’t say they replace carpets every time a tenant leaves he’s saying he has multiple units and that’s the cost when they have to replace them.
@@coryparsons8933 "We replace carpets when tenants leave." Means exactly that. He didn't say we replace some carpet when tenants leave. He didn't say we replace the carpet when some tenants leave. because maybe every tenant he has had maybe has done something to the carpet that warrants replacing it? If the burn marks wouldnt have been in the picture, the judge would not have allowed his deposit back... pictures are money makers...
Well what about her breaking the lease first by having her convict son live with her? Where’s her responsibility in this? She’s not a good mother, she took responsibility for her son who needed supervision per court order and she just let ruin the apartment while she was on holiday in Mexico
Mom may be enabling her son. But I don't like this judgment. All other times u do "rough justice" because ppl don't bring proof of cost. So why now, is the defendant allowed to keep all the money without showing no proof of what it will cost to repair
What parent goes away in a 23 year old doesn't do that I have four sons and out of four of them only one of them might do something but the other ones would never do that so it's not just a thing that they all do
Being stupid on purpose today? Obvs the point was that his shit didn't say what the men said it did. She was already looking at the words. The guy was stupid for trying to glaze over his own documents.
This verdict was bullshyt. How can you charge someone for not cleaning the carpet then there was literally NO WAY for her to clean the carpet because of no electricity or water? That's ridiculous.
Ummm, at 23 he should have his own place.... WTH is wrong with parents nowadays? This "gentle parenting" has ruined a whole generation of people. They suck!
Not making her son responsible says a lot about her as a parent.
I think the son is the way he is because mom is an enabler
Her son is probably back in jail.
She said “what 23 y/o doesn’t have ppl over when the parents are on vacation”. Ma’am he wasn’t supposed to be there in the first place. 🤦🏾♀️
She is an enabling parent It's not a random visit.
Her part of the rent was $129? She can't pay full rent, yet she went to Mexico for 8 days???
Section 8........
Because she's a nice looking woman, I'll pay her. 😂
Exactly why there should be stipulations on section 8! You shouldn't have it for more than a year or 2!

The mom's the problem, he'll keep ending up in jail as long as she enables and makes excuses for him.
It is her way of getting rid of him. Just a thought.
Were you neglected as a child?
She is in court because of her son that SHE raised.
The state raised. She got welfare

They spent $1500 no matter what.....LOL
The defendant said "we replace the carpets when a tenant moves out", if that's true, he shouldn't be entitled to charge her for it.
I'm thinking it would be because of wear and tear. This is damage caused by her in addition to wear and tear.
