    Nice to run into you two. That was a random, but cool, encounter. Good video as usual.

    New to your channel and I really enjoy the content. When you said Mount Dora I nearly fell out of my seat, not too many people ever heard of it and that includes most people raised in Florida. Originally from Miami but the family moved there in 95 . If you haven't been back there in the last ten years you would be shocked at the amount of growth. Still an amazing beautiful town but all the action is in Tavares down on the lake now. Breweries and restaurants with live music every weekend down on lake Dora.

    Hot damn this was my favorite episode thus far! I also joined the service in 1990 (Navy) and became an Airframer on mostly helos. I spent the next 10 yrs traveling all throughout Asia and the Middle East. The people, beaches and food made Thailand an immediate favorite for me and I’ve never stopped dreaming of returning. Watching your videos and adventures really makes me feel confident that, “I can do that too!” Thank you for your time on these videos Devil Dog and sending a Thai Iced Coffee your way!

    The joking remark, out of admiration and applause for the good material again.
    Now, don't want to involve myself into something, but you should do more brag about your gloves.
    And in all seriousness - these gloves are silky light and got insane grip. I would ride such on a motorcycle, I admit, they are perfect for driving also. I am such a fan of applicable clothing, that I applaud you on your gloves. Good ones! C'mon, c'mon Mr. Braggy! :)
    The serious part: from Sofia Bulgaria I salute you and I thank you for your service, as both our countries are business, military, and political allies!

    Hello Tony and Kendal! Y'all have been such a treasure trove of information; THANK YOU!!! I'm planning to visit Chiang Mai hopefully the first of March to spend a month or so and see if I like it as much as I think I will. If I do, I'll be retiring there to enjoy my retirement life. While I'm there I'd like to get some dental work done as I've heard the dental care is great in Thailand and very affordable. Have y'all had any experience with a dental clinic in Chiang Mai you could recommend? I'll be booking a flight and an Airbnb hopefully to arrive around March 1. It would be great to meet up so I can buy y'all a Thai tea in person. Peaceful Wishes

      Awesome, glad to hear it! We really like a dental clinic called Empress Dental, it's located in Hang Dong which is the city we live in. Here is a link to their website: www.empressdentalclinic.com/
      We would love to meet up with you when you are in town. Best wishes for your travels! 🇹🇭😄

    Another great video! Just started my journey towards Thailand. Hitting a few states before my flight out in 25 days. Just posted my first UA-cam video about. Keep inspiring brother!

    would you be willing to make a video about working in your particular fields and the ability to find work - moreover, how it all went down when it first started (you guys working there and that experience). Was it difficult with knowing limited Thai and is work fruitful everywhere you go? Do you guys supplement your income aside from work/UA-cam?
    I am currently in the process of working for the state but and anxious and really feel the desire to have my backup going to Thailand and teaching English and/or working with data analytics (which I only know sparsely at the moment) (or use my bachelors in supplychain management). But even down the road when I get this job, I want to know the working aspect in depth in Thailand.

      The best scenario is to have an income from a job in another country while living in Thailand. Thai wages will be too low for most. Online work is king.

    Hi Tony. Quick question about retiring to Thailand. How much surplus income do you think you need, if any, over and above your living expenses for travel and vacations during a year?

    Love your videos! I'm 67, my wife(girlfriend) is 55. I have lived in Florida for the last 50 some years. We met here in Pinellas County over 15 years ago. I have been to the Philippines only once in that time. I got to visit Thailand for a month back in October. She visited only for about four days, as she spent three weeks in the Philippines. We are seriously thinking about moving to Thailand. We didn't get to Chian Mai during our stay, but that is where we are hoping to go. At my age, this is a scary prospect. We live on a modest budget and are finding things here getting too expensive. Rent is now over $2000 for a small two bedroom apartment. My biggest concern is healthcare. I get my care at a local VA. Since this is not available to me outside the US, I need to explore what is available. I did view your post on Expenses 2023 and that provides great info. Any thoughts?

    • @darwinjina
      @darwinjina 2 роки тому

      Once you get over 60 yo, it's harder (and more expensive) to get insurance in Thailand. I thought I had heard that there were some VA services in the Philippines. Otherwise, you may need to grab a flight to Guam. (which you may find limited as well)

      @@darwinjina from what I've been told I am not eligible for VA services outside of the US. It has to be service connected or you need to be retired from the service. I didn't serve that long. Additionally, I have two types of cancer, both in remission.

    • @darwinjina
      @darwinjina 2 роки тому

      @@sharbymj I suspect with two types of cancer it may be difficult to get healthcare. You may need to fund it all yourself and fly to US when necessary. I'm hoping you can find better methods
