*I want to adress every medical student here. You are heroes. I own my life to a young intern when I couldn't breath and was in agonising PAIN asked me about blood disease in my family tree after the "real" doc decided that I had an ordinary lung infection and wanted to dismiss me. We have the apc resistant gene in my family and I had a double massive lung embolism. I am very, very lucky to be alive today. I was 28 years old when it happened.*
Thanks God you fall under a safe doctor and you are a live today . May i ask how did you know u have a genetic problem ? and if you knew before didn't the genetic doctor explain to you what risks in future ?

Sorry for my late answer, when this angelic intern asked me, i mentioned that my younger brother has had two DWT:s in his leg at age 23 and later at 25. After that we got referred to a genetic specialist, who took dna samples and fortunately my great grandmother was still alive so we know that this apc thing has killed a lot of my ancestors, tracing it back four generations on my maternal grandfathers side. He had his first of six heart attacks at 31, but managed to stick around reaching 73 years on this earth. So, i didnt know about the apc, just that my brother had these strange clots. What's interesting is that HIS doc didnt react, I mean 2 DWT:s at his age?! I think that we both are lucky to be alive.
It is a dominant gene, and I've brainwashed both of my sons about the symptoms. My mom passed away quite young of cancer, but we know know that she passed it on to us.

19:00 Well's clinical prediction for PE; 20:46 Normal D-dimer can rule out PE (if on the fence about ordering the helical CT)
In light of your D-dimer explanation, kindly explain its usefulness for PE diagnosis in terms of Sensitivity and Specificity.
Thank you.

How much time sitting do you consider to be a "long time"? If someone is sitting down at a desk for 2 hours straight studying for example, could that be a cause of DVT?
Simone Bradfoot *Late answer, but anyways, I had a double massive lung embolism, and if I'm going to fly for more than 3 hours, I should take a shot of blood thinning medicine. And of course I'm using these sexy socks that reaches up to my knees.*
Technically the guidelines say I believe it is 5 hours of consistent sitting.
Please fix the audio or reupload!
Why this Vedio has no sound any help?
turn on close captioning
There is no audio
thank you!
Thank you.
No audio makes it difficult to watch (
Why we can rule PE wit a normal d dimer . D dimer is a byproduct of fibrin degradation. If it's normal then no break down happening. Do u mean high? Please explain cus I'm confuse
Maggy Watkins because D-Dimer is highly sensitive despite being nonspecific
Is the Muscular Calf Vein not the most common site?
When you say spiral CT, are you referring to an CTPA?
Simone Bradfoot spiral and helical are same as far as i know.
