Steve Lukather is one of the best players ever. He’s done session work on hundreds if not thousands of songs. Thanks for breaking down the solo. I remember working on it for hours before I figured out the crazy drop on the B string!👍
The pace and "direction" of your lessons are brilliant. Easy to follow, without showing techniques we should already be competent in, at least if you're trying to play Luke's guitar parts. You're one of the best guitar instructors on UA-cam imho. ✌️🇦🇺
Haa...Doug...nice one...as i said on your "shorts" no Toto "fan"...but hey...Steve is a excellent mucician....going to incorporate that extended bend with the pinky on into my soloing...where it fits....thanks a bunch for taking time and effort to present this song.....and yes...i've felt the same about it forever.....haha....played on the radio far to often....
Awesome playing, ear, and patience!! Never loved this either, Hold The Line was more my kind of grind. But, we grow, thank goodness. Luke rules. Hey, one cat does I Need A Lover by (then) John Cougar. He blurs some stuff and I hate his tone. It's all about the intro, key mods and all - if you're up for a challenge, i know you could nail it. Keeep awn!!😉
Good lesson! By way of constructive feedback, my preference is show me the whole song (or the parts you're teaching) right at the outset. Advanced players just want to see what you've worked out, usually don't need more than that. I can scoot forward to the breakdown if needed, but TBH, i just FF thru all the explanation. Still, great lesson overall! Thank you!

Underrated Solo from Lukather (who is the No.1 underrated guitarist in my book, anyway), and an overall great song!! Thanx for this, Doug!!!
Every time you post, I just sit back and Smile!
Wow I still have their 1st Album in my collection from 1978. Steve Lukather is a great under rated artist. Thank you 12 Ft ♪♫♪♫♪
Underrated? You've got to be kidding. You're in a club all by yourself if you think that.
